| Picture to the postings |
Jul 5, 2006 2:01 am Mood: sleepy, 510 Views | | I thought it was time to put my picture up. I wasn't too sure at first if I should bother not knowing how long I was going to be around. The one attached here is my most recent pic taken at church back in March.
If I look tired, I was. I had worked an overtime shift all night before I went to church. That day, we had Sunday school classes both before and after service, then communion, then lunch, then a special showing of the play that the church's school put on.
On my way out, I was nabbed for a picture for the official church registry. Everyone remarks I look tired, and now you know why. And you know what I look like.
The other picture which accompanies my posts and profile is of me and my cat. Yes that is a real cat, not a baby cougar. His name is Nukey, and my children gave him to me two yeas ago as a Father's day gift. He weighs about 15 pounds, and loves to be brushed. He has his claws, has been neutered, and is a big baby. However, he still mates with female cats in heat but of coarse shoots blanks. That is something I've never seen before. My wife has three female cats, and for the year before we separated, Nukey mated with which ever of the three when they went into heat. So he had a small harem. He seemed to prefer calico cats though. I'm just glad I got him after he was neutered. Hate to think what he was like before.
So now I think he misses female companions at least as much as I do. He howls for them frequently. |

| Real America, The Agent of Liberty |
Jul 2, 2006 7:44 pm Mood: thankful, 462 Views | Of all the countries in the world, America is best known for the liberty it's citizens enjoy. We can openly express our views, worship God, and even criticize our government. Things we enjoy and call our rights, are called treason, and cause to be put in prison in many other countries. What makes America so special? The land?, the government? the people? the prosperity? No, none of those things.
It is because of the agent of liberty, who lives with us, and in us. 2Co 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Actually the agent of liberty is two fold.
1, Our Lord Jesus Christ: Without our Lord's death and resurrection, there would be no liberty.
2, The holy spirit: The Lord's 'stand in' as our Comforter until we are raptured.
Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. Joh 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
In verse 18, the word 'to' should be 'for' In verse 17, 'the Spirit of truth;' is the holy spirit. There is a really cool tie in to this verse. Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The truth shall make us free. The spirit of truth,(that makes us free), is that same spirit, that where ever it is, liberty also is.
So where exactly is this spirit? Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
The holy spirit, the agent of Liberty lives with us and in us who are born again. That is the Real America.

| A Friend Indeed |
Jun 25, 2006 2:59 pm Mood: enthusiastic, 432 Views | The teaching topic of my Church this morning was the friendship between David and Jonathan. I really enjoyed it, and thought I would transcribe it's main points on my blog today.
NINE CHARACTERISTICS OF A TRUE FRIEND
1, Unity, agreement, or connection by a common bond, much like a chain. 1st Sam. 18:1a;And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David,
2, Love, Not human sexual, or the love of God, but friendship love. Caring for friends needs, and putting them ahead of yourself. 1st Sam. 18:1b and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
3, Commitment, Sacrifice or loyalty. 1st Sam. 18:3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
4, Self sacrifice, Giving something to the other that is personal, or has important meaning. 1st Sam. 18:4 And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.
5, Intercession, Stick up for, or speak up for a friend. 1st Sam. 19:1 And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David. 2 But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself: 3 And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee. 4 And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good: 5 For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause? 6 And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain. 7 And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
6, Counsel, Ability to talk honestly to your friend. To give and receive advice, but always truth. Not just what the other person wants to hear. 1st Sam. 20:1 And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is mine iniquity? and what is my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life? 2 And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will show it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so. 3 And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death. 4 Then said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do it for thee.
7, Faithfulness, Do what you say you are going to do. Stick it out, even in bad times. 1st Sam. 20:12 And Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and show it thee; 13 The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will show it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father. 14 And thou shalt not only while yet I live show me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not: 15 But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth. 16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David's enemies. 17 And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
8, Honor, Appreciate and understand your friends for who they are. Show them respect. Defend them to others. 1st Sam. 20:30 Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother's nakedness? 31 For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die. 32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done? 33 And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David. 34 So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.
9, Show emotion, Express emotion for one another without fear of ridicule, or rebuke. 1st Sam. 20:40 And Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city. 41 And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded. 42 And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.
A DYNAMIC FRIENDSHIP REQUIRES FOLLOWING THE EXAMPLE OF OUR DIVINE FRIEND, AND LORD, JESUS CHRIST.

| Love of Money |
Jun 21, 2006 1:30 am Mood: pessimistic, 364 Views | Today, I want to shift gears, hit another matter, and complain a little bit about the place I work, and since this is my blog, I can vent if I want to. I'm using the American Standard Version for this scripture.
1stTimothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
I want to look at sort of a back door angle of this. An aspect which may not often be considered. When reading this verse, what immediately comes to mind naturally is making money, how it's done when it is done with evil. Such as shortchanging a person, overcharging, or outright ripping them off. But I believe this can also apply to saving money.
No, I'm not talking about a money savings account, or saving for future. I'm thinking specific ly of businesses. Yes there are I'm sure other evil means of saving money, but again this is my blog. But first to back up and talk about my employer.
Actually I have a wonderful job. I work for an employer many people can only dream about, and in a lot of ways I have it real nice.
I work in a factory which seems more like an office setting. We have carpeted floors, air conditioning, very little noise from the machinery. And we lead the industry in safety, environmental issues, quality, and customer satisfaction. Three times a shift we stop working for 3 minutes for what is called ergo stretch. The intercom plays music, we stop work, and do a series of simple loosening up type exercises. Yeah pretty much unheard of isn't it? We have one of the best health care plans in the state, medical insurance which covers 90% and doctor co-pay of only $20. Prescription co-pays are only $15.
With such a job I'm sure you're wondering what do I have to complain about? Perhaps because I see more potential to be even better yet, or perhaps nearly everyone everywhere complains about their jobs.
Like a lot of businesses a concept called LEAN is becoming very popular. As far as I know LEAN doesn't stand for anything except for being lean.
My employer started lean about 6 years ago in partnership with my labor union. The idea was to save money for the company by identifying wasteful practices and getting rid of them. Sounds wonderful doesn't it? Indeed it is if it's not over done.
Well my company got real good at it, and it expanded past just simple wasteful practices. We went into safety with things like ergo stretch, early intervention for receptive motion injuries, ergonomically friendly work stations, and even chairs. Our On the Job Injury rate droped so much that we are the envy of the state. The company is saving millions upon millions of dollars in employee work injuries. This too is wonderful.
You are probably wondering so where is the problem? I'll get there but I'm not done yet.
We have environmental programs to reduce solid waste to the landfills by over 60% each year. Which becomes harder each year to keep reducing waste by such a percentage. Actually we have been running higher then that the last couple years. We have become so efficient, that we are literally making money on our waste products generated to produce our main products. We recycle everything.
Again sounds more like really good stewardship then a problem doesn't it.
We have slashed our departments staffing to less then 20% of what it was 6 years ago, yet we are also outproducing now what our former staffing did which was five times bigger.
Now here's where it gets sour. We have been so successful at saving money in our company that management is becoming greedy over it. Things have gotten so that the more money we save the company, the more we have to save. Budgets are getting cut in expectation of more savings and higher production. These budget cuts are taking staffing levels down to serious levels of under staffing. Maintenance is starting to become deferred.
I had a chuckle today in that a machine called a bagger, used to seal our product in a plastic bag malfunctioned on one of the work stations. The maintenance man exchanged it for an extra bagger in storage. But instead of repairing the malfunctioned bagger, he took it to the storage the replacement came from. So the next malfunctioning bagger would be replaced by an already bad bagger. And you might know the next bagger failure happened to me. The thing started to smell like something electrical was burning inside, so I called the maintenance man. He was busy assembling a new tampon dispenser in the front office area, and said he would look at my bagger when he was done. Being always the dramatic one, and funny at the same time, I asked him for a fire extinguisher, and told I would call him when we evacuate the building because my bagger machine caught fire.
He didn't think it was funny but to me, placing the assembly of a new tampon dispenser which nobody will use until the next day, ahead of a much used machine in danger of starting a fire seemed to me his priority's were out of wack. So to shut me up, he brings out the bagger in storage that malfunctioned earlier today, because it will save the company money over repairing it.
So where does it end? It makes me wonder how much longer until our health benefits begin to really get slashed to save the company more money yet. I wonder if next I'll be putting labels on empty bags without the product and shipping them out that way to save money. Boy, if all I had to do was put labels on empty bags, I could increase my production by over 10 times, and the company would save a lot of money on the products I didn't' bag and ship.
Please realize I'm not being serious, but I'm venting over the greater and greater effort to save more and more. Do more with less, and push it like crazy.
At some point, that push to save more and more money is going to cause quality, and safety issues. Now that seems to me to be getting awful close to evil. Saving money in my company is becoming as much a love and obsession as making money by evil means. It hasn't gotten to the point of becoming evil yet, but can you see the potential. Here's that scripture again.
1stTimothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
I'm becoming concerned that this love of saving money is a root that may branch out into greed and other evils. I think this is beginning to happen in my company, just as the verse says. And if so, it would be truly too bad, to lose all the wonderful things my company has done, and the things we have over the obsession of saving ever more money.

| Who do I think I am? |
Jun 19, 2006 3:30 am Mood: jubilant, 350 Views | I know who I am, and who the Bible says I am (in Christ Jesus my Lord) I'll never forget, (although I wish I could) who I was before, and what I would be now without my Lord. Unlike the vast majority of Christians, I know and actually believe exactly what will become of me should my death occur before we are raptured, as well as what I will be when the rapture occurs.
Two clues 1, 1st Thes. 4:13-17; 2, and unlike nearly all self-proclaimed Christians, I will NOT be in heaven as soon as I die, and neither will you. That is what the Book says.
The two most fundamental things about me are 1, What does the Book (meaning the Bible) say? 2, If my believing does not match the Book, then what does the Book say?
In the case of life after death, it is the first documented lie told by the Devil. All the way back to Gen. 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
That very same lie is repeated in nearly every church in the world, nearly every week. But that is NOT what the Book says.
With the exceptions of a few unclear verses that can be explained with a little truthful studying, The Bible says conclusively when you die, you are dead. The dead will stay dead until one of four events take place.
1, Ressurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Do I even need to point out any scriptures on that?
2, Rapture. All dead Christians rise, and those still alive are directly changed to spiritual bodies. 1st Thes.4:13-17; 1st Corth 15:51-53;
3, First resurrection. All believers other then Christians raised in the rapture, and the believers that lived through the Great Tribulation. Rev. 20:1-6;
4, Second resurrection. All believers who died during the Mileniual Kingdom, and Everybody else. Rev. 20:11-15;
Are some of you getting angry yet? Of coarse you are. Why? Because the faith which you have claimed for however long has now been challenged and documented to be different then what you were taught, due to the fact you never checked it for yourself. Nor did the person who taught you.
I did say before in my profile that I am an in your face type of person, and when it comes to the Word of God, I am. Some of you will think I am egotistical, or even obnoxious, and I will concede those points, but I will hold to them even if it means I never make another friend. Why? Because it's right. Not that I'm right, but the Bible is right. And if I believe the Bible, then I am right too. However, not because I'm so great, but because our God is so great.
Do I have a lot of audacity? I'll concede to that too, and again refer back to the Book. It's not a matter of what I say or believe. Not a matter of my education level, credentials, or titles. Paul says in Phil. 3 that his credentials were a loss for Christ, and so they were.
I won't be impressed or intimidated by titles or degrees. I don't care what Theological Cemetery you graduated from. You will only impress me with one thing. What does the Book say?
That's who I think I am. If the Book is wrong, then so am I. However, I believe the Book is right, so if I literally believe what the Book says, I will be right too.
As you have deducted, I am very bold when it comes to speaking the Word, which again is exactly what the Bible says in Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
I have always aspired to be like that, but I also know Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
As bold as I am in speaking the Word, when I have your attention and you are being meek to God's Word, and especially when you learn that you misunderstood, or were taught wrong, I will try just as hard to Not gloat over it and say I told you so, because that is not how Jesus was with people. But I am not perfect either, In the human manner. But Spiritually, Yes we are all made perfect in Christ our Lord. So what makes me more special then any of you? Nothing. I was just as much a sinner as anyone else, and by the faith I received, am just as born again as anyone else.
The only difference, the only thing that matters which you will read of me hundreds of times is What does the Book say?
God bless you all. | |
