| THE OLIVE TREE with grafted branches |
Dec 17, 2006 11:46 am Mood: grateful, 238 Views |  | This is part of todays message given in my church, River Of Life. I found it very interesting in how it explains a difficult section of Romans 11;
Rom 11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; Rom 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Rom 11:19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
Israel is the natural branches of the olive tree. We, who were Gentiles that converted to become Christians during the Age of Grace, are the wild branches grafted in.
The natural branches of an olive tree draw their nutrients from the tree itself which is nurished by the roots. But in olive trees, when wild branches are grafted in, they are unable themselves to draw the nutrients they need. The tree itself has to push the nutrients into the grafted wild branches.
Because of Israel's unbelief, it was made possible for Gentiles to be saved as well. But Israel can believe again and return to join the united one body of Christ.
Rom 11:23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. Rom 11:24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
Finally, the natural branches must be grafted back into the tree, for if they are not, after a few years the grafted wild branches will stop bearing fruit, and the tree will begin to die.
Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
We Christians today do not stand on our own. All we have been given by God is ONLY because of his grace. Without God we are nothing, and without Israel we would die off. We need Israel in order to continue to thrive. That includes ALL their laws, writings, history, and prophseys.
When Gods Word says we are to be humble, indeed there is good reason for it. |

| PRAY FOR OUR SEATTLE BRETHERN |
Dec 15, 2006 1:38 pm Mood: worried, 195 Views | The following article is on the Yahoo news service. It has me concerned for our fellow bloggers who live there. JCsSister2, Sharloa, JSK, and WPX all live in the Seattle area, and I'm sure there are more I haven't mentioned. One of the deaths told of is a 41 year old woman. I really hope that wasn't Kristina.
SEATTLE - Howling windstorms and heavy rains caused at least four deaths, closed bridges and highways and cut power to about 1.5 million homes and businesses in Washington and Oregon, authorities said Friday.
One of the concourses at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport lost power, and an airport spokesman said some flights were canceled.
About 30 flights were scratched at Portland International Airport, a spokesman said, and Amtrak canceled service between Portland and Seattle.
A 41-year-old Seattle woman died Thursday after she became trapped in her basement while it flooded. Neighbors had called for help after they heard screaming.
A 28-year-old man was killed while he slept when the top of a tree snapped off and crashed into his home in a trailer park in McCleary, 18 miles west of Olympia.
Elsewhere in Washington, two people died in traffic accidents involving windblown trees.
In Edmonds, north of Seattle, about 50 residents of an assisted living facility were evacuated after a tree crashed through the third floor, flooding the building, Snohomish County emergency management officials said. No injuries were reported, and residents were sent to other facilities.
In King County, which includes Seattle, drenching rain slowed commuters to a crawl. Colder temperatures moved in Friday as the storm passed and winds calmed, bringing heavy snow to lower elevations.
Some Puget Sound Energy customers won't have their lights back on for days, spokesman Roger Thompson said.
The Evergreen Point floating bridge, which links Seattle and its eastern suburbs, remained closed early Friday and numerous other highways were blocked because of high water or windblown trees. The Hood Canal floating bridge, which links Washington's Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas, and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge were reopened early Friday after being closed Thursday evening because of wind gusts up to 74 mph.
The Oregon Department of Transportation closed three major highways crossing the Cascade Range because of fallen trees or downed power lines, and winds gusted past 90 mph on the Oregon coast.
The National Weather Service said rainfall was expected to be as high as 8 inches on the coast and 5 inches in the Cascade Range, with snow at higher elevations.
Rain drenched Qwest Field in Seattle just before kickoff of the NFL game between the Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. The rain left standing water on the field, and about 30 minutes before kickoff, a power surge briefly knocked out the large video screens at both ends of the stadium.
Seattle public schools were closed Friday, as were numerous smaller school systems and The Evergreen State College in Olympia. | |

| "HIS STAR" AND THE WISE MEN part 3 |
Dec 9, 2006 10:17 pm Mood: impressed, 224 Views | | The mathematical odds of 7 astronomical conjunctions in the constellation Leo, six of which involved the planet Jupiter, in just over a 1 year period of time was so far beyond impossible, that it was beyond any educated man's comprehension. Three conjunctions in any given constellation involving any one planet, within a two year span of time, is the most that was mathematically possible. Yet here was an astounding 7 conjunctions, all in Leo, all but 1 involving Jupiter, 3 of which were with the same star, and 2 more with the same 2nd planet, and all occurring in the same spot in the sky.
The Magi would have known something of great significance HAS happened. The Magi left for Jerusalem, arriving several months later to find Jesus around a year and half old, and living in a house in the nearby town of Bethlehem with his mother and stepfather. This visit most likely happened in early Dec. of 2 B.C. which is when Jupiter would have been in the constellation Virgo, the symbol for the virgin mother of the Christ child.
If traveling to Bethlehem from Jerusalem during this time, the planet Jupiter would have appeared to be directly above Bethlehem.
History notes that a few months before Herod died there was a total lunar eclipse. The only total lunar eclipse in the time frame occurred on Jan. 9, 1 B.C. By which time Joseph, Mary, and Jesus would have been in Egypt as warned by the angel in Mat. 2:13;
I stand in awe at how accurately the Word fits with history and science when the Word is understood exactly as written.
2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. |

| "HIS STAR" AND THE WISE MEN part 2 |
Dec 9, 2006 10:05 pm Mood: exanimate, 212 Views | | Then the wise men returned to their homeland without revisiting Herod.
Mat 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. It would have been a matter of weeks to maybe a couple months, not years, before Herod figured out the wise men were not coming back. That is why Herod specifically ordered the murder of all children under age two, rather then only infants. It is likely that young Jesus was around 15 months old, when the wise men came to see him.
The wise men are depicted by the Greek word 'Magi', and were in fact astronomers. The star they followed was actually several conjunctions of the star Regulus, known as the king star, with the planet Jupiter, known as the king planet, in the constellation Leo, which ensembles Judah. These astronomers would have noted the following astronomical events as significant in announcing the arrival of the Christ child.
1, Aug. 12, 3 B.C. A conjunction between the planets Jupiter and Venus in the constellation Leo (near the star Regulus)
2, Sept. 1, 3 B.C. Mercury and Venus in conjunction in the constellation Leo.
3, Sept. 11, 3 B.C. The 'great wonder' from Rev. 12; This is the actual date of our Lord's birth.
4, Sept. 14, 3 B.C. A conjunction between Jupiter and Regulus in the constellation Leo.
5, Feb. 17, 2 B.C. An unusual 2nd conjunction between Jupiter and Regulus in the constellation Leo.
6, May 8, 2 B.C. A never before seen 3rd conjunction between Jupiter and Regulus in the constellation Leo.
7, June 17, 2 B.C. A given as impossible 2nd conjunction in less then a year, between the planets Jupiter and Venus in the constellation Leo (near the star Regulus)
8, Aug 27th 2 B.C. A massing of the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter, with Mars and Jupiter in conjunction, in Leo, again near the king star Regulus. |

| "HIS STAR" AND THE WISE MEN: part 1 |
Dec 9, 2006 9:38 pm Mood: content, 210 Views | | Unlike what tradition teaches, the wise men did NOT show up at the manger on the night Jesus was born. 'His star' was not especially bright, but was especially unusual.
Mat 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Mat 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
The Greek word used here for 'his star' is the word 'as-tare' which is a loose generic term to describe any night time celestial object or occurrence except for the Moon.
Mat 2 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. Mat 2:8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. Mat 2:9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
By the time the wise men visited, Jesus was not an infant but a young child, and they lived in a house, not a manger by then.
Mat 2:10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. Mat 2:11 And when they (the wise men) were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. |

| AN UNREPAYABLE CHRISTMAS PRESENT.. but I will try |
Dec 8, 2006 12:58 pm Mood: cheerful, 280 Views | | Just a few years ago my family was in dire need at Christmas time when God inspired someone to reach out with kindness, I can try but never will repay. I had my work hours cut, and wasn't making very good money to start with, my wife had health problems, and I had a special needs child. One of our two cars were broke down. Christmas was coming, and we didn't even have enough money with which to eat, let alone think about Christmas presents. If that wasn't enough, our furnace had suddenly stopped working during one of the coldest Decembers on record around here.
We were at ropes end,we got a phone call from the labor union of Quaker Oats. Our family had been selected by the union as a family in need of assistance at Christmas time. They had a program where they [/COLOR took up collections from union members bought the family Christmas presents, gave them food if they needed, and what ever else they could do to help. When they called they called, they asked aboutthe ages and genders of our children in order to select presents.
With tears I explained our situation, and that to us, getting our furnace working, the broke down car running, and food on the table was more important then anything else. But I did tell him what he wanted to know Early the next morning a furnace company called wanting directions to our place, so that they could come out and install the brand new furnace the union bought us. Later that evening the union people showed up with two vans. They brought in enough food for a month, and nearly fifty Christmas presents already wrapped for us.
Finally they gave me an envelope with money they collected. Over a thousand dollars was collected by strangers for me and my family. It was by far the best Christmas we ever had.Recently, I received an offer from the new church I'm switching to who is doing the same kind of thing for someone else. So this week with my tithe will be a second envelope marked Christmas blessings for a family in need. I just got a bonus from my place of employment, and it seemed only fitting to share some of that with someone who was like me a few years ago.
Merry Cristmas to all. |

| SEND CHRISTMAS CARDS TO THE ACLU |
Nov 29, 2006 4:16 pm Mood: impressed, 268 Views | | I got the following E-mail from Speeritwoman a few days ago, and I agree it is a great idea.
Yes, Christmas cards. This is coming early (really early) so that you can get ready to include an important address to your list. Read on . . .
What a GREAT idea! Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD this year.
As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTMAS card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world. It is a Biblical principle after all.
Rom 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. Rom 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Rom 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Rom 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Don't be rude or crude. Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it
Here's the Address
ACLU 125 Broad Street 18th Floor New York, NY 10004
So spend 39 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. There is no such thing as a "Holiday Tree". . . It's a Christmas Tree even in the fields! |

| A CHRISTMAS TESTIMONY |
Nov 29, 2006 1:24 pm Mood: grateful, 262 Views | | Yesterday I received a request from an associate pastor of my new church. I'm going to paste in his letter, and my relpy. They speak for themselves.
Dear Byron,
I would like to invite you to participate with us in financially blessing the families who are in need at River of Life. The holiday season is a financial strain to many people. We would like to give our River of Life family members a small financial boost during this time.
I would like to ask two things of you: 1. We will be taking an offering in the next couple of Sunday mornings, pray about how much to give. Please mark you envelops Holiday Blessing. 2. We need your help. Please let us know of any ROL family members that may be in need during this time. Our heart is not to miss one person.
Be blessed in this Holiday Season.
Thanks! We love serving you! ROL Leadership Team
Dear Brian; Thank you for your letter. I know what you are doing is a worthy cause. Just a few years ago my family was in such need. Just when it seemed like we were at ropes end, we got a phone call from the labor union of Quaker Oats. Our family had been selected by the union as a family in need of assistance at Christmas time. They had a program where they took up collections from union members, bought the family Christmas presents, gave them food if they needed, and what ever else they could do to help. When they called they wanted to know the ages and genders of our children in order to select presents. In tears I explained our situation, and that to us, getting our furnace working, the broke down car running, and food on the table was more important then anything else. But I did tell him what he wanted to know. Finally they gave me an envelope with money they collected. Over a thousand dollars was collected by strangers for me and my family. It was by far the best Christmas we ever had. So I know what your doing is very worthy, and I would be overjoyed to be able to help do something like that for someone else. |
