My Little Bit of Heaven

Most of you are going through the same or similar trials and tribulations as I am though your stories may be a little different we are all still in the same boat. My prayer is that my little bit of heaven will make your little bit of heaven just a little bit better. May the Lord richly bless you all, cheers.

You Mustn’t Ever Give Up!! Jun 22, 2008 11:08 am

“Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” Psalms 55:22

Sometimes things look pretty hopeless life isn't going the way we had planned, and life in general is in a turmoil for us! Many times this is when we have a tendency to get discouraged, and we don't know what to do, or which way to turn. We ask ourselves the question, “Is it all worthwhile?” “Nothing is going right, and it seems no one cares.”
I’m sure there are many of you who can identify with what I am saying. One finds him, or, herself in a situation that they can't get out of, and they are inclined to think things are hopeless. But, there is someone who does care – That someone is Jesus. He is the Problem Solver. The Balm in Gilead. The One who has promised “He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
He will do what he said he would do, if we do what we are required to do, put our faith and trust in Him, never changing.

“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James 1: 6-8

Whatever you may be facing at the moment, whether it's a bad relationship, an addiction, a failed marriage, a wayward child, a job, whatever. God is always there if you will call upon Him. Place your full faith in Him, never losing sight of the fact that it is He who gives us the power to overcome any obstacle that Satan places before us.

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.” Matthew 21:21

God sees every tear that falls, and knows every heartache you may be having to endure. He is aware of those shattered dreams, and broken lives. God knows the end from the beginning, and He has YOU on His mind. “You Mustn’t Ever Give Up!”

It Takes Courage: Jun 21, 2008 2:53 pm

It takes courage
To refrain from gossip
When others delight in it,
To stand up for the absent person
Who is being abused.
It takes courage
To live honestly
Within your means,
And not dishonestly
On the means of others.
It takes courage
To be a REAL man or a TRUE woman,
To hold fast to your ideals
When it causes you
To be looked upon
As strange and peculiar.
It takes courage
To be talked about,
And remain silent,
When a word would justify you
In the eyes of others,
But which you dare not speak
Because it would injure another.
It takes courage
To refuse to do something
That is wrong
Although everyone else
May be doing it
With attitudes as carefree
As a summer song.
It takes courage
To live according
To your own convictions,
To deny yourself
What you cannot afford.
To love your neighbor
As yourself,
To follow the example
Of our risen Lord!

What A Difference 100 Years Make Jun 21, 2008 4:18 am

Here are some statistics for the Year 1908:

The average life expectancy was 47 years.

Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles
of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!

The average wage in 1908 was 22 cents per hour.

The average worker made between $200 and $400 per year .

A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, a dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME.

Ninety percent of all doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION! Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as 'substandard.'

Sugar cost four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.

Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.

Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.

Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from Entering into their country for any reason.

Five leading causes of death were:

1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke

The American flag had 45 stars.

The population of Las Vegas, Nevada, was only 30!

Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and ice tea
hadn't been invented yet.

There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.

Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write.

Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.

Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores. Back then pharmacists said, 'Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health.'

Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help.

There were about 230 reported murders in the entire U.S.A.!

I wonder what they will be saying about the world in another 100 years.

School bus driver and amateurartist Steve Kreuscher, 57, of Zion, Ill., petitioned to change his name. "I want this with all my heart," said Kreuscher, who described himself as a Christian who "gave up" on organized religion 20 years ago. His desired new name: "We Trust" for his surname, and "In God" for his given name. He said he looked forward to signing his artwork with his new name. "'In God We Trust' fully expresses who I am as an artist and a person," he said. "You don't know how bad I want this." Lake County Circuit Judge David Hall approved the name change. Kreuscher...er... We Trust typically puts $20,000 to $50,000 price tags on his work. In God he trusts; all others pay cash.

OPEC sells oil for $136.00 a barrel.
OPEC nations buy U.S. Grain at $7.00 a bushel.
Solution: Sell grain for $136.00 a bushel.
Can't buy it? Tough! Eat your oil! Ought to go well with a nice thick grilled filet of camel butt!.

I wish I could remember from years past to see if this is normal time of year thing or what is going on at Big Church this time, hahahaha. It seems that a lot of people are leaving again and I guess I need to go back through and see what has been going on.
Between school, the kids and running a lot of errands I have not had the time to read to many blogs lately. Maybe if everybody leaves then I can stop blogging and nobody can get mad at me because there will be nobody left, hahahaha, cheers and God bless you my friends.

An Unforgettable Fishing Experience: Jun 20, 2008 2:14 pm

Several years ago, I worked for a trucking outfit as a driver. It was my habit to go in on Saturday and spend a couple of hours maintaining
my truck. As I was under the truck greasing it, I noticed the owner's elderly father, making his way over to his grandson's truck next to mine.
The old man was in his high eighties, had been an avid fisherman all his life, and had come out to ask the kid to take him fishing after work. The grandson told him all about how much he would love to do that, but he just couldn't that day due to prior commitments. The old man accepted the answer and hobbled off to the house.
A few minutes later, the father came out and asked his son what the old man had wanted. After telling the story, the kid ended it by
telling his dad, "I'm not taking that old man fishing! It's worse than taking a kid."
That just broke my heart.
I quit working immediately and headed for home. I loaded up a lawn chair, some tackle and a pole, and I headed back to the truck yard. On the way, I stopped at the sporting goods store and bought some worms and the biggest bobber I could find. When I got there, I knocked on the door and invited the old man fishing. Due to his age I was sure his eyesight wasn't what it had once been, hence, the big bobber.
If he was like taking a kid fishing, I had determined to take him where I'd take a kid, in the cattails where the bluegill live! When
we got there I put him in the lawn chair at the edge of the water, baited and cast the line, and handed him the pole. It wasn't long before that big old bobber started to dance; he set the hook, reeled the fish in, and handed the pole to me.
I unhooked the fish, put it on a stringer, re-baited and cast, and again handed it to him. This went on, bluegill after bluegill, for a bit over half an hour, at which point he informed me he was tired and needed to go home.
I loaded up our gear and we headed out. On the way, we made a detour to my place where I filleted all his fish and put the meat in a
ziplock. When I got him home I gave the fish to his daughter-in-law with instructions to make sure he got them for dinner, then I left.
Two weeks later, the old man died. His family told me later that all he talked about during that time was his fishing trip. While I get the immense satisfaction of knowing I took an old man on his last fishing trip, his family has to live with the knowledge that a stranger took their grandpa on his last fishing trip.
Whenever you get the chance, don't forget about taking grandpa fishing, metaphorically speaking. Someday, you may be in the same
place and you'll want your family to care about you, too.

Old Country Delivery Jun 19, 2008 4:53 pm

An old county doctor went way out to the boondocks to deliver a baby. It was so far out that there was no electricity. When the doctor arrived, no one was home except for the laboring mother and her 5 year old child. The doctor instructed the child to hold a lantern high so he could see while he helped the woman deliver the baby. The child did so, the mother pushed, and after a little while, the doctor lifted the new born baby by the feet and spanked him on the bottom to get him to take his first breath.
"Hit him again," the child said. "He shouldn't have crawled up there in the first place!"
