Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:
"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!"
The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively.
Feel free to share it with your friends.

My thoughts on raising a child

I have gotten a lot of emails over the last few days with my thoughts on raising my grandchildren and I will express my point of view only. Again these are just my opinions and you do with what you see fit after all they are your children and just like adults each child is different and some things work with one child but may not work with another child.
First of all I realize that each child is a gift from God and that as much as we would like to admit it none of them are perfect. God loves us all whether the child is normal or has special needs. God has a purpose for this child in this life. You want to teach your children that everything that we posess down here is God's we are just using or borrowing it while we are down here and we should be using it for God's glory or to bring glory to God. No one is any better then anybody else. None of us are perfect. God has a purpose for everyone and everything. Everyone of us posesses a gift from God. You need to find your gift and use it to further the Kingdom of God. In the body of the church everyone should be using their gift for God. If everybody use their gifts to the fullest then that would be one awesome service. There wouldn't be 10 percent of the congregation doing 100 percent of the tithing. Encourage your child's creativity. Your children need to express themselves and learn for themselves what their gift is from God. Parents encourage your child to try different things. Let them know it is ok to fail once in a while the main thing is to at least try it. Parents be on the look out for what your child's gift is. If they are good at something encourage them to better theirselves. Do not pressure your children under any circumstances. You as parents just need to provide the opportunities for them and remember that your child may not take to something right away or be turned off by it and the next year love it so keep that in the back of your mind. Next use the resources available to you, check out children's websites on the internet, if you have local boy's clubs or girls club use them, put your children in the local scout clubs, take them to the library and let them read and learn for themselves. Do not expect or want your child to follow in your footsteps God may have another plan for them. My father was upset because I wasn't into mechanics like he was so therefore had no time for my interests because I didn't follow in his interest. Don't pressure your children into this. Last but not least, spend quality time with your children, turn the TV off, have dinner together as a family, talk to your children, ask questions, read stories with your children, let your children read stories to you. There are many things you can do as a family that is inexpensive, they a walk through the nature trails, go to the park, go to the beach, etc.
Again these are just my thoughts and things I have done with my children and rather then answer every letter I have chose to do it this way, I am not by any means saying this is the right or only way. This is just my way, cheers Bill

Why is it?

1. Does a clean house indicate that there is a broken computer in it? 2. Why is it that no matter what color of bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white? 3. Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale? 4. Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized? 5. On electric toasters, why do they engrave the message "one slice"? How many pieces of bread do they think people are really gonna try to stuff in that slot? 6. Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance? 7. Why is it that no plastic garbage bag will open from the end you first try? 8. How do those dead bugs get into those closed light fixtures? 9. Considering all the lint you get in your dryer, if you kept drying your clothes would they eventually just disappear? 10. When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well, it isn't all right so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?" 11 Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over? 12. Is it true that the only difference between a yard sale and a trash pickup is how close to the road the stuff is placed? 13. In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat? 14. How come we never hear father-in-law jokes? 15. If at first you don't succeed, shouldn't you try doing it like your wife told you to do it? 16. The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends, if they're okay, then it's you.
hope you enjoy, cheers Bill

Just a few thoughts that I have for people that send me concerns

As I receive emails from people all over the world quite a few that I get are from people that seem to have low self esteem. They have been hurt physically, emotionally and spiritually by so called loved ones. My heart goes out to each and every one of you and I lift up your concerns and prayers before the Lord every evening before I lay down for the night. What I want you to know and realize is that we serve an awesome God. The Lord that I serve can and will do anything but you have to ask, believe and you must have faith that it will come to past. I have made a list below of a few things that you must know and believe in your heart for they are the truth.
We serve a sovereign God. God has a plan for your life and nothing or no one can change that. Our God knows all and sees all. Our God knew who you were from the beginning of time. God knew you were going to be here at this appointed time in history. We are a blood bought child of the King. Once you accept the Lord into your heart the enemy cannot take this away from you. You are saved, cleansed, forgiven and delivered from the evil one. Jesus came to the world to be the perfect sacrifice for the sins of you and me. Nobody else but Jesus could pay this price and He did it without hesitation. By the blood of the Lamb your destiny is certain, when the roll is called up yonder we will all be there. Our future is secure and our inheritance is guaranteed, hallelujah, praise the Lord. Our God has given you everything that you need to serve Him. Each of us has a spiritual gift from God, each of us has the Word of God, use it, quote the scriptures to your enemies and watch them tremble. God has not given us the spirit of fear but of peace, love and a sound mind. The Holy Spirit dwells in the saved. The angels are all around waiting for us to ask them to intercede on our behalf. If God is for us who can be against us. Know that God is your father and He will not let you down. Think of the person that you love the most and realize that our God loves you immeasurably more. You are a child of the King of King’s and Lord of Lord’s. God will not fail you when faced with temptation God will give you an out, will you take it. If you can trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. Our Lord and Savior will never let you down, though there will be trials and temptations Jesus will always be with you as you go through those trials. Though I walk through the valley of the death I will fear no evil for thou is with me. Jesus is sitting on throne next to God interceding on our behalf. He is building us a mansion up in heaven and He has promised us that He will come for us one day. Once you are a child of the King no one can take that away from you, no one. My God can supply all of your needs. You have not because you ask not. Ask and He shall give, seek and He shall find you, knock and the door will be opened. We are going to a place that cannot be destroyed. We are all going to Heaven. With all the terrorists acts that are going on in the world no place is safe on this earth but you and I will be in Heaven and we will be there for all eternity. Many great or so called great world leaders have come and gone. Those leaders are now deceased, their armies are now deceased, their kingdoms or empires are overthrown and defeated. God is still here and will always be here. No weapon formed against us shall prosper all those that rise up against us shall fall. When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be, when we all see Jesus, we will sing and shout the victory. God’s Word cannot change. Man has been trying for centuries to disprove just one error in the Word of God and the more they try to disprove the more they prove to the entire world that we serve an awesome God. There has never been an error found in the Word of God. The bible was written over a period of time by many scholars, teachers, writers, etc and yet the Word of God flows naturally. Stand on the scriptures when you have a daily problem, recite the Word of God to your enemies. Stand on the promises that God has given us. God is in control. Some days it may not seem that way to you but I am here to say that God is in control. There is not one thing happening in this world that He doesn’t have knowledge of. He was here yesterday; He is here today and my God will be here tomorrow. Our God is an awesome God, He reigns from heaven above. If Jesus is your Lord and Savior then he is there for you. No one can do to you anything that God does not allow them to do. God has a special plan for your life. You are not here by any accident, one night stand or whatever other idea man has put in your head you are here because God wants you here. God has a job for each and every one of us to do. Without God we are nothing but with God we are everything. Last but certainly not least, Jesus is coming soon. He said it and I believe it. The story has already been told in the book of Revelation. We win, period. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confesses that he is Lord. Osama Bin Laden, nobody can find him know, God knows where he is at; he will bow before the Lord Almighty. Any other groups that you can think of that think they are all that, they will bow before the Lord. Soon and very soon we are going to see the King. Amen

2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV)
Time has not been kind. There are severe dents and chips on the surface marring its original beauty, and exposure to the elements has eroded the very heart of its character and charm.
My current "fix-up" project is to restore the original beauty to an old magazine rack once used in my grandparents' home. Before pounding out the dents, sanding away the rust, or removing the chipped paint, cleansing must be done. Experience has taught me that time, effort, and perseverance are required to successfully complete any restoration project.
On my way to the work area, I pass a mirror. Seeing my own reflection, it strikes me that the same adjectives I chose to describe that old magazine rack might also be chosen to describe me. I'm aging. My original beauty has been marred. Daily life experiences have put dents and chips in my spirit, and exposure to the elements of our everyday world has taken its toll on my character and charm. Sadly, there is no amount of time, effort, or perseverance that will help. Nothing on this earth can restore anyone's original youth and beauty.
It is in moments of discovery like these that we can rejoice in being Christians. We know Jesus loves us. We know He sees us as we are meant to be. We know He finds us to be beautiful creations of our Father, and we know He has promised to cleanse and restore us. Jesus has promised that in Him all will become beautiful and new.
Prayer: We give our thanks and praise to You, Father, for making us beautiful in Your sight. We are eternally grateful to You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to cleanse us of our sin. Our hope lies in His promise that in Him one day we will be made beautiful and new. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Dear God, I'm writing to say I'm sorry For being angry yesterday When you seemed to ignore my prayer And things didn't go my way. First, my car broke down I was very late for work But I missed that awful accident Was that your handiwork? I found a house I loved But others got there first I was angry, then relieved When I heard the pipes had burst! Yesterday, I found the perfect dress But the color was too pale Today, I found the dress in red Would you believe, it was on sale! I know you're watching over me And I'm feeling truly blessed For no matter what I pray for You always know what's best! I have this circle of E-mail friends, Who mean the world to me; Some days I "send" and "send", At other times, I let them be. When I see each name download, And view the message they've sent; I know they've thought of me that day, And "well wishes" were their intent. I am so blessed to have these friends, With whom I've grown so close; So this little poem I dedicate to them, Because to me they are the "Most"! So to you, my friends, I would like to say, Thank you for being a part; Of all my daily contacts, This comes right from my heart. God bless you all is my prayer today, I'm honored to call you "friend"; I pray the Lord will keep you safe, Until we write again.

An illustration I like to use when explaining things to children

Below is a story that I share with different children groups that I have taught throughout the years and also along with some adults who have to learn like me through an example that I can understand, so I hope that it helps someone, cheers Bills
A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water ?" Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g. The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on. As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for awhile and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden. So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down. Don't carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can. Relax, pick them up later after you've rested." Life is short. Enjoy it !

Did you know that: 1. Psalm 118 is the middle chapter of the entire Bible? 2. Psalm 117, before Psalm 118 is the shortest chapter in the Bible? 3. Psalm 119, after Psalm 118 is the longest chapter in the Bible? 4. The Bible has 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and 594 chapters after Psalm 118? 5. If you add up all the chapters except Psalm 118, you get a total of 1188 chapters. 6. 1188 or Psalm 118:8 is the middle verse of the entire Bible? Should the central verse not have an important message? "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man." Psalm118:8

And sent the manna from the sky, (Exodus 16:4-5)
Laid flat the walls of Jericho (Joshua 6:20)
And put to flight old Israel's foe ... (Joshua 10:8-10)
Why can't He answer prayer today (Luke 1:37)
And drive each stormy cloud away? (Matthew 14:31-32)
Who turned the water into wine (John 2:3-11)
And healed the helpless cripple's spine, (Luke 13:11-16)
Commands the tempest,"Peace, be still," (Mark 4:39)
And hungry multitudes doth fill? (John 6:9-13)
His power is just the same today. (Hebrews 13:
So, why not labour, watch, and pray? (Matthew 26:41)
He conquered, in the lions' den. (Daniel 6:16-23)
He brought Lazarus back to life, again. (John 11:38-45)
He heard Elijah's cry for rain (1 Kings 18:42-45)
And freed the sufferers from pain. (Matthew 8:16,1
If He could do these wonders then, (Exodus 14:21-31)
Let's prove our mighty God, again. (Malachi 3:10)
Why can't God, who raised the dead, (1 Kings 17:17-22)
Gave little David Goliath's head, (1 Samuel 17:32-51)
Cast out demons with a word, (Matthew 8:28-32)
Yet see the fall of one wee bird, (Matthew 10:29)
Do signs and miracles today ~ (John 14:12)
In that same good, old fashioned, way? (Acts 5:12-16)
HE CAN! He's just the same today, (Ephesians 3:20)
If we believe God when we pray. (Mark 11:23-24)
He's no respecter, now, of men. (James 2:1-9)
HE'LL DO THE SAME AS HE DID THEN!
