My Little Bit of Heaven

Most of you are going through the same or similar trials and tribulations as I am though your stories may be a little different we are all still in the same boat. My prayer is that my little bit of heaven will make your little bit of heaven just a little bit better. May the Lord richly bless you all, cheers.

The Lord despises double standards of every kind.
Proverbs 20:10 NLT

Never pay back evil to anyone. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do your part to live in peace with everyone, as much as possible. Dear friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God. For it is written, "I will take vengeance; I will repay those who deserve it," says the Lord.
Romans 12:17-19 NLT

Don't say, "I will get even for this wrong." Wait for the Lord to handle the matter.
Proverbs 20:22 NLT

I am sure many of you wonder why God allows all the injustice that is going on in the world today. I wonder just how bad Sodom and Gommorah was that God would destroy those cities and yet what I see in some of the cities happening today go unnoticed or seems to go unnoticed and unpunished.
I realize that God sees all and knows all and maybe it is just me but I do wonder how bad the sin was in those cities compared to todays sin that goes on around the world.
Anyway to the question, what are some of the things that you see going on around you today and you wish that God would intervene on?
Why does God allow this evil to go on? However by posing these questions we set up a double standard. We not only start to judge others more harshly then we judge ourselves but we also want God to deal with those that we believe our doing greater sins but we want God to be more kind to us. more harshly than we judge ourselves, and (2) believing God should judge others but remain lenient with us.
God does not like this way of thinking. What we are doing is elevating ourselves above others that surround us and this way of thinking also shows a lack of the mercy of God in our lives.
Don't forget we are all sinners saved by grace. The bible doesn't say anything about one sin being above or below the other. We all deserve hell. None of us deserve heaven but only through God's grace and mercy and the blood of Jesus Christ are we allowed to enter into heaven.
So just as God has shown us grace and mercy we are to show are fellow humans this same grace and mercy. None of us are perfect. None are even close to perfect though some may believe they are.
So before you rush to judge others, you might want to consider their circumstances. There may be a reason for their behavior that day. Whether what they are doing is right or wrong, it is not for you to judge or decide.

Today, Lord, give me strength to replace judgment with mercy, in Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen.

Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah's Ark Jan 15, 2006 10:26 pm

1. Don't miss the boat.
2. Remember that we are all in the same boat.
3. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
4. Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
5. Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
6. Build your future on high ground.
7. For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
8. Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
9. When you're stressed, float a while.
10. Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
11. No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.

The will of God will never take you
Where the grace of God cannot keep you,
Where the arms of God cannot support you,
Where the riches of God cannot supply your needs,
Where the power of God cannot endow you.

The will of God will never take you
Where the spirit of God cannot work through you,
Where the wisdom of God cannot teach you,
Where the army of God cannot protect you,
Where the hands of God cannot mold you.

The will of God will never take you
Where the love of God cannot enfold you,
Where the mercies of God cannot sustain you,
Where the peace of God cannot calm your fears,
Where the authority of God cannot overrule for you.

The will of God will never take you
Where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears,
Where the Word of God cannot feed you,.
Where the miracles of God cannot be done for you.
Where the omnipresence of God cannot find you.

What Makes You Rich? Jan 15, 2006 3:14 pm

Drive and determination are good qualities to have, after all we wouldn't be enjoying all the things in life that we have today if someone didn't have that ambition and desire to invent new things for us to enjoy. Without that drive and determination medicines that are needed to overcome illness would not have been invented. The beautiful homes that we live in would be nothing more then huts or teepees. Some of the greatest stories ever written would not be in book form. So in that form ambition is good but what happens when you don't know when to stop. When your drive and determination start to comsume every moment of your day.
Life is filled with stories of grief and tragedy of people who have placed other Gods before our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I have heard people say that once they acquire a certain amount of money then they can start enjoying life but once they get to that amount it still isn't enough. How many people have said once they get to a certain job then they can start enjoying life, again they are never happy. How many hundreds of teenagers get home from school and sit in front of their computer playing video games until it is time for bed or they just can't go on any longer.
Why not enjoy the simple things things in life anymore. I enjoy seeing the smiles of my children as I pick them up from daycare. I enjoy listening to my children saying grace over their meals or saying their prayers before they go to bed. Why not enjoy your family while it is together instead of saving for that once in a lifetime trip. I enjoy just taking a ride along a scenic route in town and seeing all the marvelous things that God has created for us to enjoy that don't cost a thing. What do you enjoy?
There is nothing wrong with saving money, we all should have enough to get us by in an emergency, or if you lose your job, or a family illness. What happens though is that we find it is never enough money. We start to horde money. The only thing is, don't ever let the fear of future rain obscure the present sun! money can always be saved at some point and time but the joy that you can spend with your family will be lost for each day that you let it pass you by. You only get to experience your family this present day, tomorrow isn't promised to any of us.
To many of us try to be workaholics, saying we will save now and enjoy the family later. But that time never comes and before you know it years have passed you by, what did you miss out on of your children growing up.
Finally something for you as christians to chew on, if you love doing the work of the Lord, and have a love of life then you are already rich beyond your wildness dreams. Read about what God has promised us once we get to heaven.
God bless you all, cheers.

Hope Jan 14, 2006 2:59 pm

It's magic and it's free
It's not in a prescription
It's not in an IV.

It punctuates our laughter,
It sparkles in our tears,
It simmers under sorrows,
And dissipates our fears.

Do you know what Hope is?
It's reaching past today,
It's dreaming of tomorrow,
It's trying a new way,

It's pushing past impossible
It's pounding on the door,
It's questioning the Answers,
It's always seeking more,

It's rumors of a breakthrough,
It's whispers of a cure,
A rollercoaster ride
Of remedies, unsure.

Do you know what Hope is?
It's candy for the soul,
It's perfume for the spirit,
To share it, makes you Whole.

Dealing With The Burdens Of Life Jan 14, 2006 2:52 pm

1. Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.
2. Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.
3. Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
4. Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their maker.
5. If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
6. If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
7. Never buy a car you can't push.
8. Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.
9. Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
10. Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.
11. The second mouse gets the cheese.
12. When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
13. Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
14. You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
15. Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
16. We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
17. Remember that a truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Looking For The Good In Your Family And Others Jan 14, 2006 12:51 pm

Let us pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another (Romans 14:19).

How many times in your life have you said something and no sooner had it come out of your mouth you regretted saying it.
Many people don't realize that the power of the tongue can have on a person. How many times have you said the following to a child, a friend or somebody you know:

* You'll never amount to anything.

* You can't do anything right, can you?

* Why can't you be like him/her?

* You're no child of mine!

* I'm not going to invest any more money in you.

* You're just like all the other children.

Instead of communicating the negative all the time why not try saying something positive and see how that works. Instead of looking for the bad in somebody why not look for something good in them. Learn to trust others and give them a chance to live up to that trust.
Remember in the days of Jesus when He called upon Peter to be a disciple. When you read the new testament you find that Peter was busy fishing and when Jesus first met him He acknowledged who Peter was and then changed his name. Then next He called Peter to be His disciple and after Peter confessed that Jesus was the Son of God, Jesus told Peter that he was the rock of whom Christ would build His church.
Now what confidence is that showing in someone who was uneducated and nothing more then a fisherman. How did Peter thank Jesus. Peter later denied the Son of God three times. Yet Jesus still loved him, forgave him and did truly build His church with Peter.
Now the question is, what would you have done in that situation? Would you have still stood behind Peter after he had done all that to you. Only you can answer that one but I am here to tell you that Jesus will stick with you and your situation regardless.
Jesus has given you the word of God, a gift to serve others, and for a lot of you out there, He has given you children. Jesus has trusted you in spite of all you have done to your fellow humans down here.
So won't you go out today and build up a relationship and not tear it down. Will you build up a child's self esteem and not put the child down. Will you encourage a family member or put them down again.

Dear Heavenly Father Lord, help me Lord to be a better person to others, help me to watch my tongue and what I say and do to others Lord, help me Lord to be a friend to the friendless, help me not to focus on my children's limitations and weaknesses but to notice and affirm their potential. Help me Lord to be more like You, in Jesus name we pray and all God's people said, Amen

Five Finger Prayer Jan 14, 2006 12:10 pm

1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger -Â as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

"Acts" of Prayer

A - Adoration

C - Confession

T - Thanksgiving

S - Supplication (Intercession)

Diary Of A Bible Jan 12, 2006 11:06 pm

JANUARY: A busy time for me. Most of the family decided to read me through this year. They kept me busy for the first two weeks, but they have forgotten me now.

FEBRUARY: Clean-up time. I was dusted yesterday and put in my place. My owner did use me for a few minutes last week. He had been in an argument and was looking up some references to prove he was right.

MARCH: Had a busy day first of the month. My owner was elected president of the PTA & used me to prepare a speech.

APRIL: Grandpa visited us this month. He kept me on his lap for an hour reading from 1 Peter 5:5-7. He seems to think more of me than do some people in my own household.

MAY: I have a few green stains on my pages. Some spring flowers were pressed in my pages.

JUNE: I look like a scrapbook. They have stuffed me full of newspaper clippings - one of the girls got married.

JULY: They put me in a suitcase today. I guess we are off on vacation. I wish I could stay home; I know I'll be closed up in this thing for at least two weeks.

AUGUST: Still in the suitcase.

SEPTEMBER: Back home at last and in my old familiar place. I have a lot of company. Two women's magazines and four comic books are stacked on top of me. I wish I could be read as much as they are.

OCTOBER: They read me a little bit today. One of them is very sick. Right now I am sitting in the center of the coffee table. I think the Pastor is coming by for a visit.

NOVEMBER: Back in my old place. Somebody asked today if I were a scrapbook.

DECEMBER: The family is busy getting ready for the holidays. I guess I'll be covered up under wrapping paper & packages again...just as I am every Christmas.

FOR THOSE WHO REED & RIGHT Jan 12, 2006 9:35 pm

We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes; but the plural of ox became oxen not oxes.

One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese, yet the plural of moose should never be meese.

You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice; yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.

If the plural of man is always called men, why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?

If I spoke of my foot and show you my feet, and I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?

If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth, why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?

Then one may be that, and three would be those, yet hat in the plural would never be hose, and the plural of cat is cats, not cose.

We speak of a brother and also of brethren, but though we say mother, we never say methren.

Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him, but imagine the feminine, she, shis and shim.

Let's face! it! - English is a crazy language.

There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple.

English muffins weren't invented in England. We take English for granted.

But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?

Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend?

If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?

If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

Sometimes I think all the folks who grew up speaking English should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.

In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?

Ship by truck and send cargo by ship?

Have noses that run and feet that smell?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by
filling it out and in which an alarm goes off by going on.

If Dad is Pop, how's come Mom isn't Mop?
