My Little Bit of Heaven

Most of you are going through the same or similar trials and tribulations as I am though your stories may be a little different we are all still in the same boat. My prayer is that my little bit of heaven will make your little bit of heaven just a little bit better. May the Lord richly bless you all, cheers.

An Atheist In The Woods Feb 23, 2006 3:56 pm
231 Views
An atheist was walking through the woods.
"What majestic trees!"
"What powerful rivers!"
"What beautiful animals!" He said to himself.
As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly charge towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his
shoulder & saw that the bear was closing in on him. He looked over his shoulder again, & the bear was even closer. He tripped & fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw & raising his right paw to strike him.
At that instant the Atheist cried out, "Oh my God!" Time Stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky. "You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident." "Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"
The atheist looked directly into the light, "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask You to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps You could make the BEAR a Christian?"
"Very Well," said the voice
The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head & spoke:
"Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen."

The Kitten Feb 23, 2006 3:51 pm

The pastor had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc. The kitty would not come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and drove away so that the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten.
He did all this, checking his progress in the car frequently, then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten. But as he moved a little further forward the rope broke.
The tree went "boing!" and the kitten instantly sailed through the air-out of sight. The pastor felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they'd seen a little kitten. Nobody had seen a stray kitten. So he prayed, "Lord, I just commit this kitten to your keeping," and went on about his business.
A few days later he was at the grocery store, and met one of his church members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. Now this woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, "Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?"
She replied, "You won't believe this," and told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing. Then a few days before, the child had begged again, so the mom finally told her little girl, "Well, if God gives you a cat, I'll let you keep it."
She told the pastor, "I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her knees, and ask God for a cat. And really, Pastor, you won't believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws spread out, and landed right in front of her."

Ask And Receive Feb 22, 2006 7:39 pm

A young lady had just entered middle school (they called it Junior High back then). She was a lovely girl, but felt insecure in a new school. While she excelled in many areas; sports did not appear to be her forte. Every day for the first couple of weeks, she returned home from school in tears. One day, she shared her hurting heart with her Mother. As her Mom listened to the heartbreak within her child's words, Mom prayed for the wisdom of God to prevail so that she could share with her daughter God's will.
The child said that she was so clumsy in sports that no one wanted her on their team in gym class. She was always the last one chosen, and the team that was required to allow her to play with them was angry with her because she didn't play well. They chastised her, and called her names.
When the sobbing child completed speaking, her Mother affectionately inquired, “Hon, do you believe that God can do All things?”
The child quietly answered, “Yes.”
The Mother probed, “Do you believe that God's Word is true?”
The child nodded her head, “Yes,” and wiped her puffy eyes as she curiously wondered where her Mom was going with these questions.
Her Mom gingerly smiled and replied, “Hon, Scripture tells us that when a man's ways 'please the Lord,' He makes even his 'enemies' to be 'at peace'with him. You've told me that you 'believe' in God; you 'believe' God's Word is 'true.' Do you believe that God's Word is true for a few of His people, or is it true for everyone?”
Recomposing herself, the child meekly answered, “It's true for All of His children!”
“Well then,” her Mother inquired, “If it's true for everyone, it's true for you, too, isn't it? That would mean that if your ways are pleasing God, you not only have favor with God, but He'll even cause Your enemies to be 'at
peace' with you, Hon.”
Scripture also tells us, “'In All things, whatsoever you ask in prayer 'Believing,' you Shall receive.' Do you believe that?”
The child reluctantly agreed, and allowed her small hands to intertwine with her Mom's as they began to pray. Her Mother reverently proclaimed:
“Father, we meet in agreement with You and with Your everlasting Word. Your Word said that You made everything, and everything that You made was 'good.' You made this child, and she is 'good!' She is not just good in 'some' things, but You said that she's made in the likeness and image of You, her Dad, so that would, also suggest that, like her Dad, she is good in ALL things. Your Word says that 'when a man's ways please You, You make even his enemies to be at peace with him.' We thank You that this child's
ways please You, and because of that, You cause even her enemies to be at peace with her. We thank You, in advance, that Your child excels in sports, and is loved and appreciated by her peers. In return, we give You All of the praise and glory! Amen!”
Every day after that, when the child came home from school, she and the mother would pray together and confess God's Word. They refused to accept circumstances in the natural, but elected to walk entirely 'by faith, and Not by sight!'
Within a few, short weeks, the child bounced into the house, after school, with a gleam in her eyes, and a peculiar smile on her face that could have illumined all of Manhattan. Mother could only anticipate the good report.
The child was eager to share some remarkable events. It seems that after the initial prayer of agreement, the daughter became progressively “better” in sports, All sports. The change in her ability was so unmistakably
noticeable that, now, the teams were actively competing to have her on “their” side, and no one dared call her names any longer. She had,
affectionately, been accepted by her peers as “their friend!”
God had not only given this insecure child “ability,” but he had truly given her “favor” and “peace” among her “former” enemies! It's an amazing thing, what a “little faith” can do when God is on your side.
I know, first hand, dear one...That lovely child was mine!
“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of
your Father which is in heaven...” Matthew 5:43-45

You Don't Need To Get Discouraged Feb 22, 2006 4:56 pm

I know from reading your blogs, seeing the emails that you send me, my own experiences, etc. it is very easy to get discouraged. Many times I have to remind myself with what I am about to share with you.
I want you to think about a scenario. I come over to your home for your birthday. I bring you over a thousand presents. I promise you that one of them contains a check for 1,000,000 dollars. You open the first thousand or so boxes and still not finding the check, do you get upset? Do you get discouraged?
No you don't because you know that I have promised you something and being a man of my word you believe me and just continue to open more boxes until you find the check.
Many christians in the bible, including Jesus suffered. The christians in the bible, just as christians to this day were crucified, beaten, stoned, imprisoned, shipwrecked, starved, and rejected. But in spite of their suffering they all marched on for they knew the suffering down here on earth was nothing compared to the glory that awaits us in heaven.
I tell many what the bible says about life down here on earth. It is just a vapor, meaning that life is very short here on earth compared to the thought of living all of eternity with the Lord.
So if you can look at life this way and not focus on the negative but know that one of the boxes that you open contains a huge reward you will enjoy life a whole lot more.
Don't give up. I know many of you are going through many challenging situations but you need to put them into perspective. The things that you suffer here on earth are only temporary, and God has something much greater in store for you. Compared to the glory that will be revealed in us one day, our suffering doesn't merit discouragement.

Some Wisdom From Grandpa Feb 22, 2006 4:20 pm

Whether a man winds up with a nest egg, or a goose egg, depends a lot on the kind of chick he marries.
-
Trouble in marriage often starts when a man gets so busy earnin' his salt that he forgets his sugar.
-
Too many couples marry for better, or for worse, but not for good.
-
When a man marries a woman, they become one; but the trouble starts when they try to decide which one.
-
If a man has enough horse sense to treat his wife like a thoroughbred, she will never turn into an old nag.
-
On anniversaries, the wise husband always forgets the past - but never the present.
-
A foolish husband says to his wife, "Honey, you stick to the washin ', ironin', cookin' and scrubbin'. No wife of mine is gonna work."
-
The bonds of matrimony are a good investment only when the interest is kept up.
-
Many girls like to marry a military man - he can cook, sew, and make beds and is in good health, and he's already used to taking orders.
-
Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
-
The Older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.
-
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
-
How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?
-
When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to your youth....Remember about Algebra.
-
You know you are getting old, when everything either dries up or leaks.
-
I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.
-
One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.
-
Ah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.
-
Old age is when former classmates are so gray and wrinkled and bald, they don't recognize you.
-
If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you are old.

Red Marbles Feb 21, 2006 3:10 pm

During the waning years of the depression in a small Idaho community, I used to stop by Mr. Miller's roadside stand for farm fresh produce as the season made it available. Food and money were still extremely scarce and bartering was used extensively.
One day Mr. Miller was bagging some early potatoes for me. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily appraising a basket of freshly picked green peas.
I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller and the ragged boy next to me.
"Hello Barry, how are you today"?
"H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. Sure look good."
"They are good, Barry. How's your Ma"?
"Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time."
"Good. Anything I can help you with"?
"No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas."
"Would you like to take some home"?
"No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with."
"Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas"?
"All I got's my prize marble here."
"Is that right? Let me see it."
"Here 'tis. She's a dandy."
"I can see that. Hmmmmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home"?
"Not zackley, but almost."
"Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and on your next trip this way, let me look at that red marble."
"Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller."
Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me. With a smile she said, "There are two other boys like him in our community, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes or whatever. When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, perhaps."
I left the stand smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys and their bartering.
Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently, I had the occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there, I learned that Mr. Miller had died. They were having his viewing that evening and knowing my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them.
Upon arrival at the mortuary, we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could. Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts. They were all very professional looking.
They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband's casket. Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket. Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one, each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes.
Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and mentioned the story she had told me about the marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.
"Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about. They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim "traded" them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size, they came to pay their debt."
"We've never had a great deal of the wealth of this world," she confided, "but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho."
With loving gentleness, she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.
We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds.

My Diets Rules That I Need To Follow, Doctor's Orders Feb 21, 2006 2:17 am
265 Views
I went to the doctor last week and he told that I am overweight and that I needed to find a diet that I could stick to. Well after doing a google search and checking over the 1,000,000 plus diets sites on the web I decided to incorporate some of the ideas from a few of them and come up with my own diet routine. Anyway my diet rules are listed below, feel free to use any of them that you like.

1. If you eat something and no one sees you eat it, it has no calories.

2. If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, the calories in the candy bar are cancelled out by the diet soda.

3. When you eat with someone else, calories don't count if you don't eat more than they do.

4. Food used for medicinal purposes NEVER count, such as hot chocolate, brandy, toast and Sara Lee Cheesecake.

5. If you fatten up everyone else around you, then you look thinner.

6. Movie related foods (Milk Duds, Buttered Popcorn, Junior Mints, Red Hots, Tootsie Rolls, etc.) do not have additional calories because they are part of the entertainment package and not part of one's personal fuel.

7. Cookie pieces contain no fat, the process of breaking causes fat leakage.

8. Things licked off knives and spoons have no calories if you are in the process of preparing something. Examples are peanut butter on a
knife making a sandwich and ice cream on a spoon making a sundae.

9. Foods that have the same color have the same number of calories. Examples are: spinach and pistachio ice cream; mushrooms and white chocolate.

10. Foods that are frozen have no calories because calories are units of heat. Examples are ice cream, frozen pies, and Popsicles.

What Are You Willing To Commit? Feb 21, 2006 1:44 am

The story is told of a man in a fancy restaurant who started to choke on a bone. A doctor rushed over, identified himself as a doctor, and reassured the man that he was going to be all right. He performed the Heimlich Maneuver and the bone popped out.
As the man's breath and voice returned he said, "I'm ever so grateful, doctor, how can I ever repay you?"
The doctor smiled and said, "I'll settle for one-tenth of what you were willing to pay while you were choking."
It's true, isn't it, that when you're facing a crisis (especially a life-threatening crisis), you would give everything you have to get through it. Money is no object!
We do the same thing on a spiritual level. How many times have you faced hardship and prayed, "Lord, if you'll just see me through this, I'll serve you faithfully the rest of my life!" or something similar? But what happens when the crisis passes? Those feelings of urgency about serving God pass as well. If we could commit ourselves to doing one-tenth of what we're willing to do in those moments, most of us would ascend to a new level of commitment.

Paul wrote, "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21)

I Don't Write As Well As You Mary But This Is For You Honey Feb 20, 2006 1:39 pm

Two years ago, I saw your face
Who thought it would be the last?
All that smiling, all that joy,
All of that now has passed.

One score and four years ago,
I brought you into this world
I never would have thought
I could have such a beautiful baby girl.

That I may not see you again,
And since then, I have sought.
The reasoning behind it all
It is such a tragic loss.

One year ago, I cried.
I thought both night and day.
I couldn’t believe that you were gone,
As though you would have stayed.

One year ago, I smiled,
And gave a nervous laugh.
But even then I knew in my heart
That your time on earth has passed.

That you would not come back.
This year, I am so sure
Despite my hope and prayers lack
For my heart there is no cure.

You left behind two precious gifts
A handsome little boy and beautiful little girl
The boy, made of muscle, who really likes to lift
The girl whose eyes are black as pearls.

They both will melt your heart away
Like you use to do to mine
I can't believe that you are not here
To tell me everything will be fine.

I tried to get you out of there
You always told me, daddy, no.
You acted as if you had no cares
You never let your troubles show.

This year for me is just as bad
As all the rest have been
My heart is broken and oh so sad
As to what you could have been.

How I will or will not act.
Whatever happens, I do know
That I’ll continue, for a fact.
As I watch your children grow.

I will do the best I can
No promises can I give
I love you from the bottom of my heart
And for your children I will live.

I love you Mary Elizabeth Watson, Happy Birthday Honey.
