My Little Bit of Heaven

Most of you are going through the same or similar trials and tribulations as I am though your stories may be a little different we are all still in the same boat. My prayer is that my little bit of heaven will make your little bit of heaven just a little bit better. May the Lord richly bless you all, cheers.

A Dads Poem Apr 10, 2006 3:13 pm
166 Views
Her hair was up in a pony tail,
her favorite dress tied with a bow.
Today was Daddy's Day at school,
and she couldn't wait to go.

But her mommy tried to tell her,
that she probably should stay home.
Why the kids might not understand,
if she went to school alone.

But she was not afraid;
she knew just what to say.
What to tell her classmates
of why he wasn't there today.

But still her mother worried,
for her to face this day alone.
And that was why once again,
she tried to keep her daughter home.

But the little girl went to school
eager to tell them all.
About a dad she never sees
a dad who never calls.

There were daddies along the wall in back,
for everyone to meet.
Children squirming impatiently,
anxious in their seats

One by one the teacher called
a student from the class.
To introduce their daddy,
as seconds slowly passed.

At last the teacher called her name,
every child turned to stare.
Each of them was searching,
a man who wasn't there.

"Where's her daddy at?"
she heard a boy call out.
"She probably doesn't have one,"
another student dared to shout.

And from somewhere near the back,
she heard a daddy say,
"Looks like another deadbeat dad,
too busy to waste his day."

The words did not offend her,
as she smiled up at her Mom.
And looked back at her teacher,
who told her to go on.
And with hands behind her back,
slowly she began to speak.
And out from the mouth of a child,
came words incredibly unique.

"My Daddy couldn't be here,
because he lives so far away.
But I know he wishes he could be,
since this is such a special day.
And though you cannot meet him,
I wanted you to know.
All about my daddy,
and how much he loves me so.

He loved to tell me stories
he taught me to ride my bike.
He surprised me with pink roses,
and taught me to fly a kite.

We used to share fudge sundaes,
and ice cream in a cone.
And though you cannot see him.
I'm not standing here alone.

"Cause my daddy's always with me,
even though we are apart
I know because he told me,
he'll forever be in my heart"

With that, her little hand reached up,
and lay across her chest.
Feeling her own heartbeat,
beneath her favorite dress.

And from somewhere here in the crowd of dads,
her mother stood in tears.
Proudly watching her daughter,
who was wise beyond her years.

For she stood up for the love
of a man not in her life.
Doing what was best for her,
doing what was right. !

And when she dropped her hand back down,
staring straight into the crowd.
She finished with a voice so soft,
but its message clear and loud.

"I love my daddy very much,
he's my shining star.
And if he could, he'd be here,
but heaven's just too far
You see he was a policeman
and died during that year
When airplanes hit the towers
and taught Americans to fear.

But sometimes when I close my eyes,
it's like he never went away."
And then she closed her eyes,
and saw him there that day.
And to her mothers amazement,
she witnessed with surprise
A room full of daddies and children,
all starting to close their eyes.

Who knows what they saw before them,
who knows what they felt inside.
Perhaps for merely a second,
they saw him at her side.
"I know you're with me Daddy,"
to the silence she called out.
And what happened next made believers,
of those once filled with doubt.

Not one in that room could explain it,
for each of their eyes had been closed.
But there on the desk beside her,
was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose.

And a child was blessed, if only for a moment,
by the love of her shining star.
And given the gift of believing,
that heaven is never too far.

The Concert Apr 10, 2006 2:03 pm

When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered that the child was missing
Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused on the impressive Steinway on stage. In horror, the mother saw her little boy sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out, "Twinkle,Twinkle Little Star." At that moment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy's ear, "Don't quit.""Keep playing."
Then, leaning over, Paderewski reached down with his left hand and began filling in a bass part. Soon his right arm reached around to the other side of the child, and he added a running obbligato.
Together, the old master and the young novice transformed what could have been a frightening situation into a wonderfully creative
experience. The audience was so mesmerized that they couldn't recall what else the great master played. Only the classic, " Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."
Perhaps that's the way it is with God.
What we can accomplish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren't always graceful flowing music. However, with the hand of the Master, our life's work can truly be beautiful.
The next time you set out to accomplish great feats, listen carefully. You may hear the voice of the Master, whispering in your ear,
"Don't quit." "Keep playing."
May you feel His arms around you and know that His hands are there, helping you turn your feeble attempts into true masterpieces. Remember, God doesn't seem to call the equipped, rather, He equips the 'called.' Life is more accurately measured by the lives you touch than by the things you acquire. So touch someone by passing this little message along. May God bless you and be with you always and remember,
"Don't quit."
"Keep playing."

To All The Kids Born In The 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's Apr 10, 2006 9:43 am
225 Views
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took
hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the
bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms, WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,
made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or
rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

Things To Think About Apr 10, 2006 8:46 am
162 Views
If you died today, what impact would you have had in other peoples lives? Would you be remembered as a positive inspiration or a wasted soul? Are you a jealous or envious person? IF so, WHY?
What is your plan to impact your life as well as others around you?
With that said, remember, positive energy feeds positive, negative energy feeds negative. The people who are around you could help in dictating your future. You are in control of your own destiny. You are your own worst critic, and BIGGEST "Hater"! No one else could hate you the way you could yourself, right?
So take Control of your Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, and Financial destiny. This is something we have to continuously work on in life, as none of us are "perfect"!
Have a wonderful new beginning!

Who Is In Your Front Row? Apr 10, 2006 8:36 am
193 Views
Life is a Theatre, Invite Your Audience Carefully. Not everyone is healthy enough to have a front row seat in your life. There are some people in your life who need to be loved from a DISTANCE.
It is amazing what you can accomplish when you let go of or minimize your time with those draining, negative, incompatible, 'not-going- anywhere' relationships or friendships.
Observe the relationships around you. Pay close attention:

Which ones lift, and which ones lean?
Which ones encourage, and which ones
discourage?
Which ones are on a path of growth uphill,
and which ones are going downhill?
When you leave certain people, do you feel
better or feel worse?
Which ones always have drama, or don't
really understand, know or appreciate you
& the gifts that lie within you?

Remember that the people you have around
you will have an impact on your life, your
values and your income. So, be careful when
choosing the people you hang out with, as well
as the information with which you will feed your
mind. We should not share our dreams with
negative people, nor feed our minds with negative
thoughts.
The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the FRONT ROW, and who should be moved to the balcony of your life.
Ask your God for wisdom and discernment, and
choose wisely the people who will sit in the front row of your life.
You cannot change the people around you but
you CAN change the people you choose to be
around. So I ask you again, who is in your front row?

Dealing With Spiritual Blindness Apr 9, 2006 8:20 pm

Satan has inflicted on unbelievers a spiritual blindness. People cannot come to Christ unless their spiritual eyes are opened. That is where you and I come in. We are to pray for the lost that the devil is stealing from God.
In order to combat this blindness your prayer life will be the main weapon that you will use. The bible says, "If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him". Then God challenges you to apply this verse by asking Him to bring new life to the unbelievers. The strategy is that you must include authoritative prayer that God's light would penetrate satanic blindness.
The devil is going to try and keep you in the dark. The devil is trying to keep you in the baby stage of believing. By doing so you will not be an effective witness for God and your ministry will be also effected by this. But I am here to tell you that you are a child of God. God has given you an inheritance. That inheritance includes authority and protection over the evil one. You just have to invoke your rights as a christian. We need to pray for one another so that we can see clearly as to what lies before us, so that we can see God more clearly and remove the spiritual blindness that the devil is trying to put in front of us.

Why Our Country Is In Trouble. Apr 9, 2006 4:48 pm

A Washington, DC airport ticket agent offers some examples of why our country is in trouble!

1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window.

2. I got a call from a candidate's staffer, who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, then she interrupted me with, "I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts." Without trying to make her look stupid, I calmly explained, "Cape Cod is in Massachusetts, Capetown is in Africa." Her response - click.

3. A senior Vermont Congressman called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando. He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that's not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, "Don't lie to me, I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state!"

4. I got a call from a lawmaker's wife who asked, "Is it possible to see England from Canada?" I said, "No." She said, "but they look so close on the map."

5. An aide for a cabinet member once called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas. When I pulled up the reservation, I noticed he had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas. When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, "I heard Dallas was a big airport, and we will need a car to drive between gates to save time."

6. An Illinois Congresswoman called last week. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:30 am and got to Chicago at 8:33 am. I explained that Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois, but she couldn't understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that.

7. A New York lawmaker called and asked, "Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?" I said, "No, why do you ask?" She replied, "Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I'm overweight. I think that's very rude!" After putting her on hold for a minute while I looked into it (I was laughing) I came back and explained the city code for Fresno, CA is (FAT), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on her luggage.

8. A Senator's aide called to inquire about a trip package to Hawaii. After going over all the cost info, she asked, "Would it be cheaper to fly to California, and then take the train to Hawaii?"

9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman who asked, "How do I know which plane to get on?" I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, "I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them."

10. A lady Senator called and said, "I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola, Florida. Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?" I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola, Fl. on a commuter plane. She said, "Yeah, whatever, smarty!"

11. A Senior Senator called and had a question about the documents he needed in order to fly to China. After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded him that he needed a visa. "Oh, no I don't. I've been to China many times and never had to have one of those." I double checked and sure enough, his stay required a visa. When I told him this he said, "Look, I've been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express!"

12. A New Mexico Congresswoman called to make reservations. "I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York." I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, "Are you sure that's the name of the town?" Yes, what flights do you have?" replied the lady. After some searching, I came back with, "I'm sorry, ma'am, I've looked up every airport code in the country and can't find a Rhino anywhere." The lady retorted, "Oh, don't be silly! Everyone knows where it is.Check your map!" So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, "You don't mean Buffalo, do you?" The reply? "Whatever! I knew it was a big animal".

Now you know why Government is in the shape that it's in!

Your Faith Is Starting To Waiver, How To Stop It. Apr 9, 2006 3:21 pm
169 Views
When you allow your faith to waiver you are cutting yourself off from the blessings of God. God cannot and will not answer a prayer for one who doubts in Him.
In order to get your faith back on track you will need to do a couple of things.
You need to decide if you believe in the Lord and what He says in His word. Insecure feelings are tied to our circumstances, but our mind and heart can be tethered to the Lord instead. Satan will tell you that you cannot do something or he will tell you to get discourage or to give up. As believers in Christ you are to let the devil know who your God is and what your God can do for you.
You need to stand on the promises of God. Get into the Word of God, find the promises that are all throughout the Word and stand on them. Meditate on the Word, learn the scripture, repeat those that you need throughout the day. This way whenever harsh circumstances confront us and faith begins to waver, we can recall God's promises and stand firm in our decision to trust Him.
The bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Talk to God just like you talk to your friend. Tell God what you are going through. Give God your cares and your burdens. Faith is a great adventure.

The Blessings Of God Apr 9, 2006 3:01 pm

How many times have you look at a brother or sister and wished that God would have blessed you like they appear to be bless? I just want you to know that you can receive God's blessings in many ways. It doesn't always have to be a material blessing that you receive.
Don't feel bad if you are in this group. They were doing the same thing in Jesus day. Many people in that day didn't see or understand the signs of the Lord's coming. Many people in that day only follow Jesus to see the miracles He was doing or to get fed. Jesus wanted them to see Him as the Messiah but for whatever reason most did not see it.
The blessing you and I should be looking for is the closeness of the Lord's presence. You are not to be worried about where you are at on the social ladder. You are not to be worried about all the material things you can acquire while you are here on earth. None of that will matter when the Lord calls you home.
I can promise you that if you seek the Lord first everything else will be added to you. The bible says it and I believe it.
Are your eyes set on the Savior because of what He provides or because you love Him?
