My Little Bit of Heaven

Most of you are going through the same or similar trials and tribulations as I am though your stories may be a little different we are all still in the same boat. My prayer is that my little bit of heaven will make your little bit of heaven just a little bit better. May the Lord richly bless you all, cheers.

In Case You Don't Feel Old Yet Sep 16, 2006 8:32 am

Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things.

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1987. They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine

They have always had cable.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or "de plane Boss, de plane".

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter

Do you feel old yet?

Confirmation Of Steve Irwin's Salvation Sep 15, 2006 4:18 pm

I want to inform Creation Ministries Internationa l, that Steve Irwin became a born again Christian two and a half weeks ago at the Kings Church AOG Buderim, Queensland Australia, going forward publicly before the congregation to ask Christ to become his Lord and Saviour.
Many of us will now spend eternity with him. I am sure Terri is comforted as a Christian in the fact that she will be with Jesus and also Steve again for eternity. Steve declared the day before he died that he was the happiest he had ever been in his whole life.

Kinks Sep 15, 2006 4:10 pm

It was a hot sunny day, so hot you could actually see heat waves rising in ripples off the pavement in the driveway.
'Looks like this drought is here to stay,' Cindy thought as she wiped perspiration from her forehead. She twisted a sprinkler onto the end of the water hose and placed it in the center of the lawn. She walked back to the faucet and gave it a short twist.
The sprinkler only sputtered before going dry. "Stupid water department!" Cindy muttered under her breath as she went inside to call. "If they have to ration water, they could at least make sure there's enough pressure to water the lawn when it's our turn."
Cindy grabbed the phone and dialed the number to city hall.
"City clerk." answered the woman on the other end of the line.
"Yes, this is Cindy. I live in the Rolling Hills Addition and am experiencing problems with my water pressure. Could you tell me if anyone else has reported problems in this area?"
"No." The clerk responded, "No one has reported any problems. Perhaps you' are having problems with your plumbing. Have you tried more than one faucet?"
"No ma'am, I haven't." Cindy replied. "I'll check the other faucets and call you back if there's still a problem."
Cindy went to her kitchen sink and turned on the water. 'Doesn't seem to be a problem here' she thought as she made her way back to the yard. With little examination, Cindy found her problem, a kink in the hose. Feeling silly, she unkinked the hose and proceeded to water the lawn. Once the kink was removed, the water flowed freely, bringing much needed relief to the sun scorched soil beneath the grass.
As Christians, we also get kinks in our lives, kinks of apathy and unforgiveness, kinks of self-righteousness and sometimes even religion. These kinks can block the power of the Holy Spirit from flowing through us, so that we might in turn minister to others.
Praise God, for He is able to remove these kinks from our lives, but we must allow Him to do so.

Love Does Not Think Evil Sep 15, 2006 5:37 am

“Does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil.” 1Corinthians 13:5 (NKJV)

Henry Ward Beecher wisely suggested that we should “build a fair-sized cemetery in which to bury the faults of our friends.“ That is love’s way. Love “thinks no evil” of the man who lives next door. “Love is never glad when others go wrong.” 1Cor.13:6 This does not mean we will blind our eyes to sin; but we will push our prejudices aside, and bring in thoughts of good whenever possible.
Love does not think evil of those who have wronged you. To forgive is to simplify your life, for then you do not keep a bookkeeping system of all the slights you must repay or the grudges you must hold against others. Thoughts of love are a wonderful strength to a Christian mind. Hatred and revenge soon become a cancer in the soul. If you look for defects in the character of those you love, you will soon destroy your affection, and admiration for them lose your friends.
There is a fantasy, which is a parable of life. A man came home from war, the victim of wounds and shell shock, and married an ugly woman. It was a marriage of convenience, for each was alone in the world. For a time the couple lived restlessly in an “enchanted cottage” vaguely realizing something was lacking. Then one day the man looked at his wife and found that she was no longer ugly. She had become beautiful! The wife looked at her disfigured husband, but now he seemed tall and handsome. What had happened? In the cottage where love dwelt a transformation had taken place. Love had beautified the object that was beloved.
What a privilege to follow Jesus in our blueprint of thinking. He saw the possibilities in every man to become a redeemed son of God. Let us see every person as one for whom Jesus died.

Sometimes I Just Don't Understand Women Sep 14, 2006 7:24 pm

A husband in his back yard is trying to fly a kite. He throws the kite up in the air, the wind catches it for a few seconds, then it comes crashing back down to earth. He tries this a few more times with no success.
All the while, his wife is watching from the kitchen window, muttering to herself how men need to be told how to do everything.
She opens the window and yells to her husband, "You need a piece of tail."
The man turns with a confused look on his face and says, "Make up your mind. Last night, you told me to go fly a kite."
