My Little Bit of Heaven

Most of you are going through the same or similar trials and tribulations as I am though your stories may be a little different we are all still in the same boat. My prayer is that my little bit of heaven will make your little bit of heaven just a little bit better. May the Lord richly bless you all, cheers.

Getting Acquainted with God: Nov 5, 2007 6:32 pm
146 Views
“Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace; thereby good shall come unto thee. Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.” Job 22:21, 22.

From the beginning it has been Satan's studied plan to cause men to forget God, that he might secure them to himself. Therefore he has sought to misrepresent the character of God, to lead men to cherish a false conception of Him. The Creator has been presented to their minds as clothed with the attributes of the prince of evil himself—as arbitrary, severe, and unforgiving that He might be feared, shunned, and even hated by men.
Christ came to reveal God to the world as a God of love, a God of mercy, tenderness, and compassion. By the world's Redeemer the thick darkness with which Satan had enshrouded the throne of the Deity was swept away, and the Father was again manifest to men as the Light of life.
Christ is saddened by the sight of men so absorbed in worldly cares and business perplexities that they have no time to become acquainted with God. To them heaven is a strange place; for they have lost it out of their reckoning. Not familiar with heavenly things, they tire of hearing about them. They dislike to have their minds disturbed in regard to their need of salvation. But the Lord desires to disturb their minds, that they may become acquainted with Him in time to accept His offer of salvation.
The day will come when the awful denunciation of God's wrath will be uttered against those who have persisted in their disloyalty to Him. But you need not be among those who will come under His wrath. We are living in the day of His salvation. The light from the cross of Calvary is shining forth in clear, bright rays, revealing Jesus, our sacrifice for sin. "We have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins" (Eph. 1).
God desires to restore His image in you. Believe that He is your Helper. Resolve to become acquainted with Him. As you draw nigh to Him with confession and repentance, He will draw nigh to you with mercy and forgiveness.

Lessons On Life Nov 5, 2007 5:34 pm

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.
The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer and the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen. The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted. The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but only one season in the tree's life.
He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer and the fulfillment of your fall.
Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest. Don't judge life by one difficult season. Endure. Stay steadfast. Continue on to the end and fulfill the plans God has for your life.

Two Women Nov 5, 2007 2:28 pm

Two women were in a hair salon talking about their home lives when the subject of flighty husbands came up. "It's unbelievable," one woman said. "I can never figure out where he goes at night."
"I know exactly what you mean," said the other woman. "One second he's in the house, and the next he's gone without a trace."
"Well," says a woman eavesdropping nearby. "I always know where my husband is."
"How do you manage that?" the other two women asked. "Easy," she replies. "I'm a widow."

Why would God want to forgive?? Nov 5, 2007 11:01 am

"I will cause wonders in the heavens and on the earth blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon will turn bloodred before that great and terrible day of the Lord arrives. And anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. There will be people on Mount Zion in Jerusalem who escape, just as the Lord has said. These will be among the survivors whom the Lord has called." Joel 2:30-32 NLT

If we say we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. 1 John 1:8-9 NLT"

Why would God want to forgive people who have spent a lifetime denying him and hurting him? Why doesn't he just zap them? In our humanity we say that certain people don't deserve forgiveness. In His sovereignty and perfect love. God says, "I love and forgive those who, to others, appear unsalvageable." This is just one of the ways in which God's thoughts are beyond our own. His mercy is so overwhelming that it can seem unreasonable to us. Are you willing to let God's mercy do as it wishes, with anyone?
If God conditions are met, He is bound by His Word to forgive any person of any sin because of Christ and what He did on the cross.

The only thing worse than a sorcerer is his apprentice.

Until Eve arrived, this was a man's world.

Never wave to your friends at an auction.

Never ask the highway commissioner if he plays bridge.

You should make a point of trying every experience once except adultery and folk dancing.

Ups And Downs Nov 5, 2007 7:33 am

While the US stock market is at an all time high, the ups and downs frighten a lot of small investors like me. I went to my
financial advisor at the bank and ask if he were worried.
He replied that he slept like a baby. I was amazed and asked, "Really? Even with all the fluctuations?"
He said, "Yes. I sleep for a couple of hours, then wake up and cry for a couple of hours."

No One Is Perfect Nov 5, 2007 6:52 am

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. Every night, the family ate dinner together; but because of the old man's shaky hands and blurred vision, he had difficulty eating. Peas would roll off of his spoon, and milk was almost always spilled on the table as he tried to take a drink. His son and daughter-in-law became very frustrated and decided to have him sit at his own table in the corner where they wouldn't have to deal with the mess. Because he had broken a dish or two, they gave him a wooden bowl to eat out of. One night, the father noticed his son playing with some wood scraps, and he asked him what he was doing. The son answered "I am making a wooden bowl for you and mommy to eat from when I grow up." The parents were speechless and in tears. From that moment on, the grandfather ate at the table with the rest of the family and somehow, the messes he made never bothered them again.
Impatience can occur when expectations are not met. No one is perfect, and wanting that from someone is frustrating and unproductive. Choose to love people for who they are, as they are. That's how God loves us, and He asks us to do the same for others.
