My Little Bit of Heaven

Most of you are going through the same or similar trials and tribulations as I am though your stories may be a little different we are all still in the same boat. My prayer is that my little bit of heaven will make your little bit of heaven just a little bit better. May the Lord richly bless you all, cheers.

I Thought Of You: Apr 25, 2008 1:50 pm
162 Views
I did today what I always tell you,
When you are in need of someone,
Think of a friend.

I felt alone, I needed comfort,
I needed a friend so,
I thought of you.

No smile on my face, no joy in my heart,
No one to turn to so,
I thought of you.

I needed someone to talk to, someone to listen,
As I talked to myself I remembered so,
I thought of you.

A friend is what I wanted, a friend who cared,
No one was around so,
I thought of you.

I remembered the things that I promised a friend,
And remembered the promises a friend gave me
So, I thought of you.

Now the mood has changed for the better,
A smile I have and not feeling alone because,
I thought of you.

Drop a Pebble in the Water: Apr 25, 2008 6:34 am
191 Views
Drop a pebble in the water, just a splash,
and it is gone;
But there is half a hundred ripples circling
on and on and on,
Spreading, spreading from the center, flowing
on out to sea.
And there is no way of telling where the end
is going to be.

Drop a pebble in the water; in a minute you
will forget,
But there are little waves a-flowing and
there are ripples circling yet,
And those little waves a-flowing to a great
big wave have grown;
You've disturbed a mighty river just by
dropping in a stone.

Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a
minute it is gone;
But there are half a hundred ripples
circling on and on and on,
They keep spreading, spreading, spreading
from the center as they go,
And there is no way to stop them, once
you've started the flow.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness: just a
flash and it is gone;
But there are half a hundred ripples
circling on and on and on,
Bearing hope and joy and comfort on each
splashing, dashing wave,
Till you wouldn't believe the volume of
the one kind word you gave.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness: in a
minute you will forget;
But there's gladness still a swelling,
and there's joy circling yet.
And you've rolled a wave of comfort whose
sweet music can be heard,
Over miles and miles of water just by
dropping one kind word.

When You Look At Me: Apr 24, 2008 8:14 pm
208 Views
When you look at me
what do you see?
Is it really me
or what I want to be?
Why do I let you
gaze into my eyes,
Where you might glimpse what's
deep inside?

I tremble thinking, that If you knew
what would you think?
If you caught a glimpse of me
upon the brink.
Hiding, lying, holding back
the truth, as fear sets in.
What would you think if you but
knew where and who I've been

I understand more than you know,
as life's waves crash
and the winds do blow.
That disappointment, hurt,
pain and despair
are part of living
and they lay us bare.

Think about it,
and you'll realize
we're not so different,
you and I.
As we face our hours and our days.
Fear looks for but a chance
to take our hand and lead us
into a frantic, endless dance.
Fear taunts us telling us we're lost,
"Look at what you are!"
Then lies and tells us,
"There is no love.
No bright and shining star."

Not one of us is different.
And when fear has had his fun.
We know we cannot make it through
without the only One.
The only One who knows the hurt.
the pain and deep despair.
For He lived it so that He could say
"Come to me, for I've been there."

And when I tire of being
the mistress of disguise.
I long to rush into His open arms,
and gaze upon forgiving eyes. You
see, I cannot fool Him. Not as I have
so often done. My heart is open
and bleeding at the feet of the
precious Son.

I tremble as He looks at me,
into my deepest core.
And yet with everything He sees
He says, "I love you more."

It breaks my heart to know
how often I let Him down.
And yet upon His glorious face,
you will not find a frown.
With His mighty hand,
softly He touches my cheek and smiles
for, you see, He knows me,
yet He loves me,
and walks with me each mile.

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” - Jeremiah 1:5

The World In Black And White: Apr 24, 2008 2:36 pm

You could hardly see for all the snow
So you spread the rabbit ears as far as they'd go
Pull a chair up to the TV set,
"Good night David, Good night Chet"

Depending on the channel you tuned,
You'd get Rob and Laura or Ward and June.
Andy Griffith and Barney Fife,
Lawrence Welk or This Your Life.

I Love Lucy and The Real McCoys,
Dennis the Menace, the Cleaver boys.
Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train,
Superman and Lois Lane.

Father Knows Best and Patty Duke,
Rin Tin Tin and Lassie too.
Donna Reed on Thursday night
Life looked better in black and white.

They were simple folks living a simple life
Where everything always turned out right.
The good guys always won the fight.
I wanna' go back to black and white.

In God they trusted, in their own bed they slept.
A promise made was a promise kept.
They never cussed or broke a vow,
They'd never make the network now.

Nowadays nothing's the way it seems
In living color or on the screens.
The good guys don't always win the fight
Life doesn't always turn out right.

If only I could, I'd rather be
In a TV world of '63.
It felt so good, it felt so right.
Life looked better in black and white.

I'd trade all the channels on the satellite
If I could just turn back the clock tonight
To when everybody knew wrong from right.
Life was better in black and white.

Be Happy With What You Have, Grab A Tissue Apr 24, 2008 2:10 pm

I walked into the grocery store not particularly interested in buying groceries. I wasn't hungry. The pain of losing my husband of 57 years was still too raw. And this grocery store held so many sweet memories.
He often came with me and almost every time he'd pretend to go off and look for something special. I knew what he was up to. I'd always spot him walking down the aisle with the three yellow roses in his hands.
He knew I loved yellow roses. With a heart filled with grief, I only wanted to buy my few items and leave, but even grocery shopping was different since he had passed on.
Shopping for one took time, a little more thought than it had for two. Standing by the meat, I searched for the perfect small steak and remembered how he had loved his steak.
Suddenly a woman came beside me. She was blonde, slim and lovely in a soft green pantsuit. I watched as she picked up a large package of T-bones, dropped them in her basket. Hesitated, and then put them back. She turned to go and once again reached for the pack of steaks.
She saw me watching her and she smiled. 'My husband loves T-bones, but honestly, at these prices, I don't know.' I swallowed the emotion down my throat and met her pale blue eyes.
'My husband passed away eight days ago,' I told her. Glancing at the package in her hands, I fought to control the tremble in my voice. 'Buy him the steaks. And cherish every moment you have together.'
She shook her head and I saw the emotion in her eyes as she placed the package in her basket and wheeled away. I turned and pushed my cart across the length of the store to the dairy products. There I stood, trying to decide which size milk I should buy. A Quart, I finally decided and moved on to the ice cream. If nothing else, I could always fix myself an ice cream cone.
I placed the ice cream in my cart and looked down the aisle toward the front. I saw first the green suit, then recognized the pretty lady coming towards me. In her arms she carried a package. On her face was the brightest smile! I had ever seen. I would swear a soft halo encircled her blonde hair as she kept walking toward me, her eyes holding mine.
As she came closer, I saw what she held and tears began misting in my eyes. 'These are for you,' she said and placed three beautiful long stemmed yellow roses in my arms. 'When you go through the line, they will know these are paid for.' She leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on my cheek, then smiled again. I wanted to tell her what she'd done, what the roses meant, but still unable to speak, I watched as she walked away as tears clouded my vision.
I looked down at the beautiful rose s nestled in the green tissue wrapping and found it almost unreal. How did she know? Suddenly the answer seemed so clear. I wasn't alone.
Oh, you haven't forgotten me, have you? I whispered, with tears in my eyes. He was still with me, and she was his angel.
Every day be thankful for what you have and who you are.

Better Than Gold or Silver: Apr 24, 2008 6:06 am
257 Views
“How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!” Proverbs 16:16

Our world is filled with craving little mortals. Since the entrance of sin, people have been greedy, gluttonous, and grasping. History is full of stories of unhappy persons whose object in life has been the possession of things. All along the centuries they have worked with dedication toward the pursuit of material treasures—and they still do today. The result, of course, is restlessness, skepticism, and often disillusionment.
You recognize this, as do I; nor are we necessarily a minority when it comes to this realization. It is not uncommon to find men who decry with impassioned appeal the inroads of materialism.
What is far less common is to find those who understand that in the final analysis materialism stems from stark ignorance. Ignorance? At a time when schooling facilities are provided on a scale outweighing anything the world has known to date? The point is that our mathematical accumulation of facts has not yet led us resolutely to place the riches of mental and spiritual achievement above material wealth.
What is the solution? Simply this—lift our sights to God’s everlasting purpose. He is leading men along the way of salvation to an eternal home of restored bliss. Meanwhile He purposes that we learn to know Him, and knowing Him, to think past our own self-interest. The human heat is small and by nature does not love beyond its own good. But true knowledge sets aside this human propensity and opens the coastline to God’s plan for all men. This is true education; this is wisdom. It will lead a young man and a young woman to get just as much training of the mind and heart and body as God can use in the service of others. Today let us seek that wisdom and understanding that are above silver and gold, because the Master said, “Wisdom is justified of her children’ Matt. 11:19.

Good Morning Apr 23, 2008 9:02 pm

As you got up this morning, I watched you and hoped you would talk to Me, even if it was just a few words, asking my opinion or thanking me for something good that happened in your life yesterday. But I noticed you were too busy trying to find the right outfit to put on and wear to work. I waited again.
When you ran around the house getting ready I knew there would be a few minutes for you to stop and say hello, but you were too busy.
At one point you had to wait fifteen minutes with nothing to do except sit in a chair. Then I saw you spring to your feet. I thought you wanted to talk to me but you ran to the phone and called a friend to get the latest gossip.
I watched as you went to work and I waited patiently all day long. With all your activities I guess you were too busy to say anything to me.
I noticed that before lunch you looked around, maybe you felt embarrassed to talk to me, that is why you didn't bow your head. You glanced three or four tables over and you noticed some of your friends talking to me briefly before they ate, but you didn't.
That's okay.
There is still more time left, and I have hope that you will talk to me yet you went home and it seems as if you had lots of things to do.
After a few of them were done you turned on the TV, I don't know if you like TV or not, just about anything goes there & you spent a lot of time each day in front of it, not thinking about anything - just enjoying the show. I waited patiently again as you watched the TV and ate your meal but again you didn't talk to me.
Bedtime I guess you felt too tired. After you said goodnight to your family you plopped into bed and fell asleep in no time.
That's okay because you may not realize that I am always there for you. I've got patience more than you will ever know. I even want to teach you how to be patient with others as well. I love you so much that I wait everyday for a nod, prayer or thought or a thankful part of your heart. It is hard to have a one-sided conversation.
Well you are getting up again and once again I will wait with nothing but love for you hoping that today you will give me some time.

Have a nice day!

Your friend,
GOD

Have you experienced God's victory? ? Apr 23, 2008 5:06 pm

O Lord, I have so many enemies; so many are against me. So many are saying, "God will never rescue him!" Victory comes from you, O Lord. May your blessings rest on your people.
Psalm 3:1-8 NLT

In the sixteenth century the Huguenots of France were known for their psalm singing. They sang when they ate, they sang when they worked, they sang when they worshiped. They even sang when they were persecuted or when they were going into battle. In battle, psalms were chanted whenever sentries took their posts. The chanting of certain psalms signified certain things. Chanting Psalm 3 signaled danger. Whenever a Huguenot heard this psalm, he knew an attack was imminent.
That must have been the way David felt when he wrote Psalm 3. His son Absalom was trying to usurp the throne, enemy armies were pursuing him, and he didn't know which friends he could count on. David and his contingent of soldiers had hastily crossed the Jordan River during the night, not knowing what would happen in the hours of darkness (see 2 Samuel 17:22). The situation seemed hopeless. Despite the anxiety, however, David continued to trust in the Lord as his shield, his glory, and the one who lifted his head.
When danger seems imminent, will you trust God as David did? Will you look to the Lord as your shield, your glory, and the one who lifts your head?

You give me inspiration
Yet not a word you say.
You are the light in my life
That guides me on my way.

Our closeness is forever
As I feel you in my heart.
No matter where I am
We are never far apart.

You are with me in the morning.
You are with me every night.
No matter where I am
You are my shining light.

No matter where I go,
You are in my heart each day.
I feel your presence by my side.
You are in my heart to stay.
