Open Prayer in Government Meetings?

In the Osceola County Commissioners meeting in Florida, prayer, at the beginning of the meeting, in Jesus name, has been done for years. Its a matter of record. Now some people want Jesus name taken out of the prayer. How do you feel?
Way back in the beginning of our great nation, the USA, the wise founding fathers knew that religion is powerful, and they had seen religion rule the state, and in fact rule the world by force. Sometimes it was a matter of life and death. Convert or die. Behave according to religion or die. So, the founding fathers decided to keep religion mostly out of Government, but not entirely. They wanted religion limited to its proper place. For example, I read that the US Senate opens with prayer. I see "In God We Trust" on our money. I hear God mentioned in the pledge of allegiance. The Ten Commandments are posted outside the court house here in this city.
I feel as long as the majority want some respect shown for God, it should be allowed. And if some individuals want to pray in Jesus Name, thats fine. But it should not be forced. That is if someone is asked to pray, and they don't want to use Jesus Name, thats fine too. I just want those individuals who do believe in Jesus Name to be allowed to pray and pray in His Name.
Religion is a matter of personal preference, and a matter of faith. Its not to be forced. Our founding fathers who were very religious for the most part just wanted to keep religion in its place. In matters of State, that place is limited.
As long as a majority of the people of the United States want to show some respect for God, I feel this should and must be allowed, but not forced on those who don't. If the time comes when a majority of the people do not want to show some respect for God, then I feel this should be allowed as well. Its our job as a Church to persuade the country. If we do our job right by example, we will persuade. If we get militant and try to force it, we will lose.

Carry A Gun. ?

Its legal. We have the constitutional right to bear arms, meaning to defend life and property. No one needs to be reminded that all across this great land of ours, defenseless people are being shot at point blank range for revenge or vengeance. Its happening in malls, convenience stores, restaurants, and most anywhere.
The best defense is a strong offense. When evil is resisted, it flees, the scripture says. Appeasement or being defenseless makes the aggressor more aggressive.
Classes are available in most every major city where you can get a license to legally carry a gun for defense. WE pride ourselves as Christians on being responsible. Here is an area where we can show our mettle and put our action where are mouths is. If the time comes when you need it, you will be glad you had it. So will some other people whose lives you defended.

Why I Believe In Contraception

Women are killing worldwide 42 million babies a year by abortion legal or illegal, makes little difference. If its illegal they will get it done anyway unsafely. Only where there are contraceptives available are abortions less.
Probably many christians believe in family planning, some don't at all. The Supreme court affirming or overturning Roe V Wade will not change much the practice of abortion, just where its done.
Contraception stops abortion. Increasing adoptions helps but not enough. The New York Times International reported these facts of life and death.
WE can get all religious about it, moral about it, and preach to the choir, but may we remember we don't live in a godly world, but a world where in reality abortions have always occurred, are going on, and will continue to be done no matter the preaching, the laws, or whatever. WE can improve the situation a little, but only contraceptives stop abortions cold. Where they are available, the percentage drop in abortion is significant.
There is the old argument that contraceptives will increase promiscuous activity. I have news, this is a weak argument because promiscuous behavior, alcohol abuse, and drug abuse, and crime will continue no matter what we do. People are going to do what they do.
Finally, let me ask which is worse, abortion or contraception? By far abortion is worse.

Who's Your Daddy??

Life presents us with one more chance. WE flubbed the dub first time around. We didn't know what we had till we lost it. Now we know. But, still do we want a loving community, or do we want to be a rebel?
All was given to us. None we made or achieved on our own, not really. From the beginning we had a Daddy who provided, protected, and had fellowship with us. WE rebelled.
He heard out cry, and again provided a way home. Loving community is available to us again, only one more time.
Who's your daddy?

Expensive Toys

The Lord has a myriad of play things from pride to possessions to pleasure. All are expensive, addictive, and potentially life consuming. None of which is the all to end all. Only He Himself is the all to end all. For example, food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food, but both will be replaced by something better in the future, according to the Apostle Paul. The same for passion, cars, houses, jobs, planes, all are things, and all things will pass away; and they are first, second, and last, the Lord's things, not ours, only to use and give thanks.
We have been placed into the midst of all His wonders. If we love His playthings the most, we will lose both them and Him. This, by the way, is idolatry, even if we don't know it. If we love Him the most we gain Him and his playthings.
Who or what do you love the most? Can you prove that?

Spiritual Strength

Spiritual knowledge and spiritual strength are not one and the same thing. We are told as christians to put on Christ, clothe ourselves with Christ. This is in other words acting in the Spirit.
Some of us study and soon become walking talking encyclopedias of facts regarding doctrine, and Bible. This is not spiritual strength. To learn many facts about marriage is not marriage. To learn from a textbook tons of information about piloting a plane does not make us a pilot.
In any and all cases spiritual strength is a result of an ever increasing amount of experience with the Holy Spirit. Sure, knowledge is useful, but that alone is too often worse for us and others without experience with the Spirit.
Are you connected with the Holy Spirit? Do you get impressions and ideas from the Spirit? Congratulations, you are on the way to strength in the Spirit. Remember John the baptist was strong in Spirit, as was John, Peter, James, Stephen, and Paul. In all cases they had much experience communication with the Spirit and behaving by the Spirit.
Spiritual strength is not textbook strength, but strength of experience with the Spirit. Are you walking around dragging a chain of impressive degrees, or are you glowing like a beacon of light? Knowledge is the letter of the law. Experience is the Spirit of the law. Strength of letters kills, but strength of Spirit gives life and blessing to all. Learn Jesus and be cold and lifeless. Experience Jesus and glow with life.
Blessings,

Different Strokes For Different Folks

Some people have a different love style. They want your love all the time. Others want quality love just a little of the time because they are so busy.
Some people have a different learning style. My son learns by hearing. I learn by feeling. Others learn by sight.
Some people have a different music style. A few hear the beat especially. Others hear the melody. I hear not the base so much as the higher harmonics.
Some people have a different service style. This is usually according to our spiritual gifts. My service style is in words of the heart. Others serve according to the various gifts as organization, counseling, healing, helps.
Some people have a different humor style. My humor is dry, witty, and some gallows. Other people have a sense of humor that works on innuendos, still others more of a base humor.
What does all this mean for relationship? It means that two people who what to be one better not have too many different strokes. It means that compatibility is important and also complicated. It means the Lord is still the best match maker. I hear of some success stories from dating sites that match make, but that is again man's way. I am not saying that God won't use that. I am saying He needs to be involved in however we find people with the same strokes. He does not like to be left out, so to have His blessing we need to have His helpful Presence.
Blessings,

Rush Hour In Texas

Early this morning I was driving to work at the speed limit, and many of the drivers on the road passed me like I was standing still, blowing the paint off the speed limit signs as they went by. I have never understood why people would be in such a hurry to get to work. Are they actually that eager to work? But this is not the land of make believe, the righteous of faith are here.
Of course here in Texas every other vehicle is a truck, many with extended cabs, four doors, bumper grills as big as texas longhorns, and over sized tires, and rumbling engines. Texas has always been this way, even long before we accepted statehood and annexed the rest of the United States. We take everything seriously here driving, drinking, drugs, duty, dating, doves, and debauchery.
A estimate is that around the world, 159,000 people die each day, 6,600 die each hour of the day, 110 die each minute of the day, and a good many of them from Texas. The checking in process of souls departed is in continuous operation in Heaven above Texas. Some souls go to rest and others to Guantanamo detention.
It is rumored that the garden of eden was here, and also the Ark of Noah, but thats legend, though persistent. If any of yens is looking for new country, come on down, there is still plenty of room. Always has been, always will be.
The point of all this is the day we die, we won't be alone, there will be plenty of company, thousands in fact. Yet, each one of us is intimately known by the Lord, even if you live somewheres else in the world, be it known only to Him. When ya think of dying in this light, the accumulation of things, pompous pride, earthly pleasures don't seem all that big a deal, now do they? You may not think there is any humility in Texas, but actually we strongly believe in it. For example, to solve the immigration problem, there is this proposal that we annex the rest of Mexico and become one big fussin, fighting, family and settle the issue the Texas way.
Well, I have said my piece for the day. Good hunting, slow down, and go to Church.
Bless yens

Worlds Apart.... Worlds Together

When we men and women focus on each other, then our worlds, which are our lives, become separate, resulting in little or no communication. It gets cold. This is why so many books written on relationships, and what to do to relate, are meaningless, mostly a waste of money, and false hope. Eve focused on the fruit and herself, and Adam focused on Eve, and both of their worlds separated from Him and each other.
What can we do to bring our worlds closer so the boundaries begin to merge and overlap? Simply we must raise our focus off each other, and even ourself, to the Lord above in whom all things merge and work together in perfect harmony. Take our eyes off Him and our worlds separate, fragment, and it becomes worlds at war.
When we do focus on Him, we receive Divine energy, that even though mysterious, is definitely experienced, and our separate worlds come together. This energy is love energy, a positive force, and feeling of goodwill toward God and each other. Marriages made in Heaven are sustained by Heaven, not earth.
