No ER's This Flu Season For Me

The warning is out. If I go to an ER this fall and winter not having the flu, I just might very well leave with the flu. There is so much coughing, sneezing, spitting, and speading germs around that the long wait could very well more than compromise my remaining health.
Hydration, bed rest, and stay at home is the advice being given so far for mild flu symptoms. Call centers to help determine if a visit to the ER is necessary are being worked on at present. I rarely ever go to hospitals. I know why most doctors don't like to go to even their own hospital.
Listening to this great fuss in the news over health care, I wish people could hear themselves. If they really cared about their health, why don't they lose weight, and exercise, and eat healthy? I feel many people are worried that something is going to be taken away from them that is free. Also, people are very unhappy with the government that by default allowed this recession to happen.
Health is a Christian thing. My body is actually a temple, says scripture. Maintenance is then more than a necessity. Is it not a sacred duty? Oh well, who wants to listen to religion?
I like alternative medicine, even if reports say it is a waste of money, and of no effect. Why then do the doctors make sure before any surgery that I have taken no Ginkgo Biloba recently that makes my blood too thin for surgery?
We may really be in for it this flu season. My hands are the key to my health to a large extent. Frequent washings, and keeping them away from my eyes, nose, and mouth is a good preventative. Hope I can listen to my own counsel.

Furious Town Hall Meetings

The electorate is furious. To me, it is more than health care reform that I see happening. It goes deeper than the surface issues. I believe Americans feel a profound sense of betrayal of all that is good and right about the USA by banks, ceo's, and wall street. People are mad about the recession.
Yet this weekend, the malls and stores were packed. People were buying and selling. Half of the people walking through the stores and malls were on their cell phones, their face aglow with animated conversation, oblivious to those around them.
People are texting, twittering, riding the facebook wave, and chattering away on their cell phones. News pundits are inviting viewers to text in their comments. They are doing so. Some of the news report now is the comment of us who watch.
The Lord was profoundly concerned about human beings and unlimited communication. WE are fast approaching for the second time in human history this total communiction phenomenon. We will see what happens. Since He has allowed this for the moment to happen, I am hopeful.
One thing is certain. Virtue and the lack thereof is displayed before the bewildered, confused, and chattering away human population daily. If the message of the Bible is ignored in Church, it is still displayed hourly over the channels of communication that leave very little privacy.

My Spiritual Sweet Tooth

I need a sweet tooth. I have found one. The drag of each day does not get me down now.
My christian life is a tradeoff. I give up somethings so I can have better things in their place. Yes, I have a sweet tooth. I like something to sweeten my life anytime, anywhere. I am replacing possessions, pleasures, and pride of this world with those same things of the spiritual world.
The truth for me is being in love with the Lord and some earthly person. This is the main sweet tooth for me, this being in love experience. The Lord has taught me that how I relate to Him is how I relate to people, and how I relate to people is how I relate to Him. Its all one and the same. Nothing equals being in love. It's like being inside of joy. I do know it is stepping across the line from impersonal to personal. And, I am sure it is somehow being a part of Jesus life. But, as with so many things it comes from Him, and is still a mystery. God is a mystery and most likely always will be to us. I also know that no one can give me a sweet tooth, and I can not give it to myself. That leaves one other source.
The bible talks a lot about this love experience. Being in love is far and away different from attraction, as sitting on the sidelines watching the dance, is different from being out on the dance floor and dancing. I wish I could say just go do three things and anyone can be free of this world and have some sweetness in life. I don't even know how the Lord gave me more freedom. I just know that as long as I keep focused on Him and honest with Him, nothing stays the same. Freedom more and more eventually happens. Like the dawning of a day, slowly but surely it gets brighter.

Why I Am Holy

The Lord says He is Holy, therefore we must be holy. To me, He means by this the idea of being separate. The Lord is not owned by anything, and is therefore free of everything.
Whatever I own, can soon own me. I didn't really understand this very well until, as the years went by, it became increasingly clear what is is like to be owned, or a slave to this and that. As I read the scripture, it is obvious to me that the Lord has the rightful title to this earth, and in fact the universe. He gave us people the mandate to subdue the earth, and be caretakers, but never the title.
I could think I own my house, or my car, or my family, or my job, or food, or power, or passions. I have watched people come apart at the seams when their possessions, or pride, or power was taken away from them. I have watched musicians lose their powers and commit suicide.
I don't want to be a slave to anything. I want to be free. There is sweet enjoyment of life in freedom. To stay free of anything, anyone, and everything, the Lord has given me limitations in the use of everything, and attitudes regarding anything so that I may stay free. I believe when I was born again many years ago, the Holy Spirit began to help me to separate my affections to this world and become attached to the values that last forever. The truth has made me free in many areas. Now I only want to be free in all areas.

Satan's Serial Killers

To understand serial killers I first had to understand what normal is. From the words of Jesus, a normal person loves God personally, intensely, and the most. A normal person subsequently loves themself, and people. Once I was clear on this, I knew I would never understand serial killers. Why? Because they have no empathy. They are void of feeling for another human being. They love killing. It gives them power and pleasure. What is one less human being out of billions? They feel something is missing in their life, so they want to spread the void. It is senseless, so to them that makes sense.
The Bible says Satan appears as an angel of light. Its is no surprise then that serial killers, who are conduits for his work, appear also as well groomed, smooth talking, even polite and respectable. Beware. They are not.
Serial Killers can be male or female. The males kill strangers overtly, bashing, spilling blood, and outward violence. Females kill more subtly by smothering and poisioning those close to them, usually for the money as in insurance.
They are not psychotic in having lost contact with reality by delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, or behavior. In fact, they are cold, calculating, inhuman monsters, the devil personified in various ways, and very impersonal.
Sometimes they have a history of what is called, 'the triads'. The were bed wetters, played with fire, and were cruel to animals.
Avoid strangers, con artists or people who play on our sympathies. For people in need, we can always phone 911. Interact with people we have known for a long time, and who have shown sympathy.

My Stigmata
|

A stigmatic is one who bears on their body the crucifixion wounds of Jesus. Paul, the Apostle, in his word to the Galatians Christians referred to his physical marks of slavery to Jesus.
I feel that even more than physical marks, or stigmata, is the spirit marks of slavery to Jesus resulting from the wounds inflicted on me from spirit conflict with this world. Jeanne d'Arc surely experienced this. Burned at the stake at age 19 after she had reversed the misfortunes of the French in the 100 years war, she was soon given the status change from heretic to martyr, and thereafter beautified and elevated to one of the three patron saints of France.
My reading of the New Testament is that we must all be stigmatic at least in spirit. How can we live in this world of conflict and not be wounded and hurt? Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, says holy writ. Jesus was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. We must be branded as illegitimate by the world to be accepted as legitimate by the Kingdom of Heaven.

I Am Glad Jesus Is Happy

Is Jesus happy because of people? No, but in spite of people, He is happy. For a long, long time a secret has slowly been revealed to me. Jesus happiness is because He is blessed by loving others.
I grew up in this get all you can get world with this profane philosophy. God dared me to step out in faith, and start caring about others, not just in theory, but in attitude and practise. Lo, and behold, the miracle of antiquity began to happen. In caring about others, it rubbed off on me.
I saw then the secret of Jesus Happiness. He blesses Himself by blessing others. I can do this too with His help. This is really the meaning of the Bible.

I Should Not Text

I text often. I never wanted to start, but the techno world I live in was too much. I prefer a phone call, but texting can be simple and sweet. Its not the sweetness that I like, but the simplicity. Its uncomplicated, unless I am driving, or sleeping, or cooking, or whatever. Then it is distracting.
I know the cell phone and driving is distracting. The laws of the land are close on the heels of many of us who abuse this privilege. Yes, it is becoming a privilege. The right to text and talk on the cell phone may soon be limited. Train accidents, and probably truck wrecks, not to mention many car crashes could have been avoided, but for texting and cell phone use.
I live in a world where neither the religious right, nor the religious left can have their way. The rooster of the day is technology. It is now the driving force of history riding on the wave of self interest motivation.
Should I text? Yes, but carefully. Communication has long been both the blessing and curse of humanity. Strange as that sounds, the one thing that bothered the Lord more than anything was the fact that the world was one language following the flood of Noah. More than anything, one language would doom the human race faster than anything. It still is so. Those persons privy to the wonderful world of communication know this. They can see the dangers.
Without communication relationships won't work. Jobs can not get done. Learning can not take place. Society can not improve. Even this week, tomorrow in fact, the President of the USA, and a Harvard professor, and one sargent policeman will set down for a beer in the White House and communicate.
It is a dilemma. Communication can advance us. Jesus said for us to go communicate the gospel to the world. But, advertising has taken advantage of the art of communication and abused human nature. Communication has a moral dimension. To not communicate hurts, and to communicate can hurt also. Why, how, who, where, when we communicate is so important.
Of all the gifts I have been given, I love the communication gift best.

Swine Flu & Two Billion People

The World Health Organization says in the next 24 months some two billion people, or one third of the entire world population will likely be infected with swine flu. This is not good. The death nail of people is often the flu, but not reported as such but its complications as pneumonia.
I will wash my hands frequently, and try to keep my hands away from my nose, mouth, and eyes. Also I will try to avoid crowded places. Yeah, right, but I will try. Its hard to stay away from grocery stores and malls.
Those who salivate at the thought of one of the plagues of Revelation will say they told us so. There is a warning from God to those who would mishandle this book. Be careful how you represent this book, or its plagues may find you out. Kings of Israel used to challenge God and don the vestments of High Priest and go into the Holy of Holy's to see if they survived, like Russian roulette. That's why the jews would tie a chain to the feet of those so daring. They would too often have to pull them out deceased because of their folly.

Religious Right or Religious Left or Not Relligious?
|

The religious right crucified Jesus, the religious left ignored Him, which is about as bad, and those who remained and had some sense followed Him.
The religious left gives everyone a pass. The religious right gives nobody a pass, and the rest follow any common sense they have.
In the world around me I see the truth trampled on daily. What most often prevails is confusion. The founding fathers of the USA knew that self interest was what motivated people. So they built our constitution around competing self interests that would off set each other. This explains the daily confusion seen on the news reports of our struggling world.
In the Church, these competing self interests are also seen. I am not bewildered or surprised at how people talk and act. What they say and do seems so right to them. The rest of the world seems confusing to them.
We not only choose our own poison, we choose our own confusion. I believe the truth as reported by Jesus.
