| Some More Pretentious Writing From the Midnight Ocean... The Crown of Creation |

Last winter I experienced a rather peculiar morning... and the recent cold snap and frost advisory brought it back into remembrance with gusto. I think still-frames in your mind are precious when viewed under certain light. I remember it well now...

CROWN OF CREATION
The mornings brilliance of snowy wonder- brought with it incredibly allegory. Unavoidably piercing winds and a peeking sun of exquisitely bold, fiery presence- served up an added measure of near divine beauty. The sun illuminating a frigid atmosphere of bluish-purple, mottled, heavy laden clouds...and gusting winds- worked in concert to produce snowflakes of icen-sparkle. These flakes were far from its common fluffy brethren. These flakes more resembled...intricately chiseled geometries, of leaded glass or crystal. And for the first time in remembrance the snowfall had a distinct and peculiar sound. It was as if countless millions of tiny crystalline chandeliers were made to be blown and scattered- and then altogether shattered across themselves- within the unimaginably huge expanse of the 'house of the giants.' I'd of course heard of a Winter Wonderland before...but this more resembled a winter fairytale. And I felt as if I was the graceless giant therein, stumbling and bumbling about in rehearsal of my typical menial endeavors. It was immensely beautiful, but scarcely inviting; frozen and wholly isolating, while remaining entirely indifferent. It was “nature.” I loved it's trappings, and it made my heart near to melt- but it cared not the least for me. To it- I was on par with the trees, the deer, and even the bugs- which had all but disappeared months ago. I was on even keel with bacteria, or even a fossilized brontosaurus, and the dirt- for that matter.
I knew I needed something more. I needed something warm and endearing… something that could understand the blueness of my longing and the deep purple of my affection. I needed G-d. Nothing else could do. Luckily, I knew just where to find Him. He wasn't just there, occupying the sun, or the gorgeously brilliant- but coarsely indifferent scape about me; He was solidly within my heart, and the Word written thereon. The truth was impossibly easy. I wasn't a graceless giant, kin to bacteria, or even simply some solemn solitary admirer of the inexplicable beauty of nature...I was something infinitely more. I was a child of G-d, and a harbinger of His Word. I am... of The I Am, and blessed is He. G-d can be seen in all things about us, but His masterpiece and crown of creation lives within all of us... so long as we dare to believe.

Hahaha...the thought never crossed my mind! It's Neuschwanstein Castle, Linderhof Palace – King Ludwig II.’s In Germany. I broke my tail bone in a cave there!! It was...unpleasant. This Ludwig guy was completely bonkers and built this underground cavern with a gondola floating around while he had opera singers entertain him. So yeah, I climbed up on this ledge during a tour and someone shut out the lights, and I promptly fell...goodtimes. Lol.
But, hey nice to see you and thanks for the comment, even if you were not talking about me...this time! GB!

Lol, nice! Well if you say so then I shall shut my trap, Milady!
Perhaps it's one of those things where if you willfully state that you are pretentious, that you are then automatically absolved from all pretentiousness...past and present...hmmm . Lol.
Thanks a lot kiddo, and hears to lookin at you kid...

Wow! I needed that reminder! Living where I do...I BEAUTIFUL British Columbia...I tend to see Him so very much in His creation...and I missed that so very much.
But that last sentence sums it all up: "G-d can be seen in all things about us, but His masterpiece and crown of creation lives within all of us... so long as we dare to believe."
Mike Mason, in his book, The Mystery of Marriage, says something to the effect that even the bum on the street is more beautiful than all that scenery because man is an image bearer...made me look at that bum a little differently!
Next time you're gonna get pretentious, I bringing my tissues!

Hey Sabre, If I had the ability to compose music like Maurice Ravel(he wrote the famous Bolero and a lot of very "scenic" music)I would attempt to put this writing to music deserving of it's imagery. Another fine piece my brother.

I agree... Your expression here really is absolutely beautiful! Sometimes when we write we are just swinging away in the dimly lit cave of our own existence, just going through the motions, breaking rocks and such. At other times we strike gold. Those are the times when seem to feel most alive and our expression is so keen and luminous that it inspires others to see things as beautifully and clearly as we see and remember them.
I think the really great writers are those who learn how to do whatever it takes to keep there minds within that synaptic loop and stay and live within that golden place of creative inspiration... Surely that place must be just a little bit closer to the heart of God. Thank you for bringing us all closer to His heart through your writings.

Hey there Sis...indeed it is quite beautiful up there! That's interesting about the mention of Mason's work...I know that I read something similar by a Rabbi whose case was that the poor man on the street holds inside a depth of strength that most of us, being all children of G-d, will never know... GBY and thanks for stoppin in Sis, and yes bring a tissue!

Hey there my Musical Brother, thanks friend. I'm honored that you would even mention it, Sir. My knowledge of music composition could fit in a thimble, but I admire music with great passion, so... But that kind of reminds me of what I believe a famous composer said about his music, in that he could play the notes just the same as anyone else, and that the genius lies in the pauses. Thanks...and... May G-d bless you with ingenious pause, my Brother...

Hear hear! Well said Skysong! Here's a little Jars of Clay that this reminded me of...
IF I STAND by JOC
"There's more that rises in the morning than the sun And more that shines in the night than just the moon There's more than just this fire here that keeps me warm In a shelter that is larger than this room
And there's a loyalty that's deeper than mere sentiments And a music higher than the songs that I can sing Stuff of Earth competes for the allegiance I owe only to the Giver of all good things
So if I stand let me stand on the promise that you will pull me through And if I can't, let me fall on the grace that first brought me to you So if I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs And if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for his home
And there's more that dances on the prairies than the wind And more that pulses in the ocean than the tide There's a love that's fiercer than the love between friends More gentle than a mother's when her baby's at her side
And there's a loyalty that's deeper than mere sentiments And a music higher than the songs that I can sing The stuff of Earth competes for the allegence I owe only to the Giver of all good things
So if I stand let me stand on the promise that You will pull me through And if I can't let me fall on the grace that first brought me to You And if I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs And if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for his home
So if I stand let me stand on the promise You will pull me through And if I can't let me fall on the grace that first brought me to You And if I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs And if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for his home
And if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for home"
