Within each of us is a latent remnant of Almighty G-d, the Creator. "Let us create man in Our image." "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." John 1:3
We are born into the cold world naked and innocent, and crying out. For even Adam and Eve did not know of their nakedness, until they had sinned against G-d's command. It was then that they sought to cover themselves. "And He said, 'Who told you you were naked.'" Gen3:11 Who did tell them they were naked???
Life can be tragic. It's at times painful, and cruel, and sometimes seemingly merciless. We cover ourselves with bands and layers to protect ourselves from the worlds cruelness. We cover ourselves out of shame and fear.
The evil element of our world teaches us to sin, and we clothe ourselves with filthy rags. It was the enemy who told them they were naked. The accuser of the brethren.
Headlines today are covered with things that are wicked beyond comprehension. Unimaginable evil. But, I've seen things, and done things that are incomprehensibly beautiful too. These kinds of things make life worth living. When you break through all the semantics of life, all the confusion and drudgery, what do you really believe in? What is worthwhile?
I believe that we come into this world for one reason alone. That's to make the darkness of this world Light.
Mt5:14 "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."
We're going get dim, people will -steal our light... as we add another layer covering our latent innocent and G-dly nature. Covering that little child inside that burns with enthusiasm and light. I believe we all have what is called the Aish Tamid, which is an Eternal Fire. It's something that G-d alone can turn out.
"The soul of man is a candle of G-d" (Proverbs 20:27)"
It's within us, we must try to uncover it. We must find that ember and fan the flame, so that it may shine unto the world, as a reflection of our Savior who is the Truth and the Life. As one fire begets another fire. As Holy Fire of tabernacle where upon the offering was consumed with fire out of the heavens. Three times in Scripture, G-d himself is explicitly called a "consuming fire." (Deut 4:24; 9:3; Heb 12:29).
Mt 5:15 "Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house."
We must strip away all the layers of facade of life in the physical- to reveal that light given us by G-d, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, achieved by the sacrifice of Christ. Rags washed in the blood of the Lamb, become clean and white. He can strip away all the filthy rags of the past. He can save us from the evil and wickedness taught us by the world, through sanctification and grace.
We must seek to uncover ourselves by, following G-d's Word and our Lord Jesus Christ. "...do the first works or I will come and remove thy candlestick." Rev 2:5
For those written in the Lamb's Book of Life have eternal salvation. As the Lamb is both Eternal and Light.
IIPeter 1:19 "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts."
Surely we have the prophecy of Christ as the Eternal Light of the world to come.
"And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof." Rev 21:23
Take off the layers and reveal that latent Fire inside. That candle of G-d. You must first give yourself up, and only then will you become whole. And by Him we can become clothed in white, and baptized with Aish Tamid, the Eternal Fire that is part of Him. Eternally.
"And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God." Rev 19:13

Christ does not bid His followers strive to shine. He says, Let your light shine. If you have received the grace of God, the light is in you. Remove the obstructions, and the Lord's glory will be revealed. The light will shine forth to penetrate and dispel the darkness. You cannot help shining within the range of your influence.

The soul is the light of G-d. Everyone has a soul therefore they have the candle and Light of G-d. Without exception. Everyone. With grace or without it. But grace can bring it out, and when you are washed clean. But He can put it out. To blackness and ash as the second death.

They are dead in their trespasses and sins.
Devoid of all light.
The darkness hates the light.

It cannot be true that they are devoid of all light- as the soul is the candle of G-d. And all men have souls from G-d. That's everyone. They cannot show light, maybe. Because they have not the light of salvation. Being dead in sins and trespasses, meaning they have not been given to eternal salvation, yes. But they still have a soul and breath of Holy Ruach or they would be physically dead as well as spiritually.
Also if what you say is true that might imply that children and infants who sadly passed on, had no light in them- since they had not heard the gospel. Children have immense light, they nearly glow. When they pass they are as white as snow. Why? They had no accountablity to sin, no filthy rags yet...but they have light. Sin kills the light and layers upon it. Only Christ can redeem us from our filthiness and sin. Moses and Elijah did not have the gospel and they appeared as beings of bright light upon the mount of transfiguration. They were light.

Darkness is the absence of Light. It dispels it.
Jn 12:35-THEN JESUS SAID UNTO THEM, YET A LITTLE WHILE IS THE LIGHT WITH YOU. WALK WHILE YE HAVE THE LIGHT, LEST DARKNESS COME UPON YOU: FOR HE THAT WALKETH IN DARKNESS KNOWETH NOT WHITHER HE GOETH.
While you are in the light, beware—lest darkness come upon you.

Jn 3:19-AND THIS IS THE CONDEMNATION, THAT LIGHT IS COME INTO THE WORLD, AND MEN LOVED DARKNESS RATHER THAN LIGHT, BECAUSE THEIR DEEDS WERE EVIL.

I love the point you make here... this rings true to my soul as well. Children are full of light the closest thing we have to heaven on earth are precious little babies and the beautiful light that shines through the souls of children... their souls come to us from the pure light of God's Love.
I believe this is why we have to come into our faith in God as little children because like them we can become full of light and be born again when we are accepting of what's true and good which is what God's sacrifice of Love through the blood of Jesus is all about... He was and is the Light of the world!
The worldly knowledge and the evil of this world can and will taint us and cloud our hearts and minds with a myriad of lies and dark misconceptions. God's light can only be revealed when we cast away the filthy rags of the lies of this world and our own self-righteousness.
One day when we come face to face with Jesus and the light of love that shines in His eyes for us all who are in Christ we will receive beautiful robes- garments of light if you will for our souls... we will be clothed in the light of eternity that can never be put out- indeed the eternal flame- and it will burn through the end of time- in the end His endless Light of Love will conquer all!
"Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee." (Isa 60:1)
"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." (2Cor. 4:6)
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. (1John 1:5)
"Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God." (1Cor. 4:5)
"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh [himself] with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth [herself] with her jewels." (Isa 61:10)
"And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." (Rev 7:14)
God's love reaches all- growing means thinking outside the box... love one another

That's exactly right Sky!! I've got a problem with the idea that children have no light in them, too. We are beings of light, then sent into flesh, and shall return again to Him as beings of light. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, but the soul returns to the Father who created it. If G-d is light- and everyone his creation and child... Great points Sky and as always GB!! sabrefire

Light clothed with beauty. Luke 12.27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
