There is an old Rabbinical lesson that goes: During the first century B.C. in Babylonia there were two Jewish sages that were sought out for their vast knowledge of the Word. Shammai and Hillel.
One day a gentile decided he might want to convert to Judaism. So he first went to the famous Shammai and said, "I will convert to Judaism if you can tell me the whole Torah while I stand on one foot." Shammai became exasperated at the challenge and promptly threw the gentile man out of his home. Then the man went to Hillel and posed the same question. Hillel was a patient and gentle spirited man of the Word- and he told the gentile...
"What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor. That is the whole Torah; the rest is the explanation of this--go and study it!"
The man was impressed and converted and went on to become a student of G-d's Word. The lesson is: Shammai had failed because he was impatient and curt. His heart was not with the gentile, but rather with his own understanding and seemingly vast knowledge of truth.
In the next century Christ did what no other man was capable of...delivering all men from the clutches of death, so long as they believed on Him, and He was found within them. Too many sages had become as Shammai was. And Christ gave a "new commandment." Our Lord said: John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
Love, as well as the Word of G-d, it appears- is found in it's delivery.

The latter part of your post is exactly what I was thinking earlier tonight as I read a couple of people's responses on a post.
GREAT example in that of Hillel and Shammai!

Thank you...as I was reading what the second had that the first didn't...it sure made me do a double take. I am impatient at times...not so much with unbelievers, but with my own kids and people who should know...'whatever' by now. I need to always go back and remember where I came from...I am not the 'answer man'.

I think it's quite common your reaction. Perhaps the more that we learn of the Word, the more we NEED to be reminded to keep our heart right before the Lord and His children. When someone begins to push people away (hence throwin em out) they marginalize Him, and nullify the sacrifice made... not something to be a part of, that's fo'sho. Heya 'Smartcookie'~ thanks for the comment...witty. It's very true...since Christ is the Living Word and the Truth- and G-d is Love...it stands to reason in my head at least, that Truth in Love- is His way. Gb Sister, sabrefire
