It's rude for men to leave the toilet seat up, especially when he is a guest in your house, i also think that is rude for men to go thru the door ahead of you, a gentleman should always put the toilet seat down and open the door for you!. Life is an adventure.

An age old question, almost like "what came first the chicken or the egg" I grew up with four sises it was ingrained in me from the start of my career in toilet use. Jesus & Don Get real for Jesus - He is coming soon Stand fast and be watchful - The battle is on

Yes, men should put the seat down, it will keep them from falling in! I also believe women should do the same thing, for the same reason. I have often wondered why some women became so upset over what is not a vital issue in life. Adults take responsibility for themselves. Since men also use the toilet with the seat down, should they complain that someone else left the seat up when they needed it down? I have experienced the same situation many women complain about: I nearly fell in because someone else left the seat up. But that is different you say, you're a man! Men should be aware of where the seat is and act accordingly. In that moment of embarrassment I realized that I had a choice. I could blame someone else for causing the problem through their lack of courtesy or I could open my eyes and prevent it from happening again by simply checking before I sat down. Then it would be nobody's fault but my own if it happened again. Now if the members of a houshold agree that the rule is that the seat (and lid I suppose) should be returned to their horizontal default positions, then that is what they should do. Even so, who should I blame if my own inattetion causes me a problem? You tell me. We are what we believe we are. C. S. Lewis

I could blame someone else for causing the problem through their lack of courtesy or I could open my eyes and prevent it from happening again by simply checking before I sat down All well and good bro, but what if it is the middle of the night, and you're groggely stumblin your way to the bathroom and it's DARK, so ya can't really see where the seat is, and not even thinkin about where that seat might be as it takes all your concentration just to GET to the bathroom without falling or stubbing toes, and ya don't dare turn the light on cuz that would wake you up so you'd never go back to sleep. And then ya fall in and get the rudest awakening of your life. I think it's a little thing to ask a man walking in love towards his wife and maybe daughters, to be considerate of their needs and put the seat down for them. Personally I think the seat was made permanently down (remember outhouses) and later the idea came about to let men lift it up. (you know the aim not being so good and being much more sanitary for the ladies to be sitting down on it, because we all know men don't clean toilets) Well I prolly opened a can of worms with this one....I hope ya don't mind? It was all in fun....well most of it anyway!

Well, if he does, I'm impressed with his sense of courtesy. If he doesn't, not impressed at all. Personally, I like mine closed when it's not in use. Nancy Let us share one anothers burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ

I agree that we should live in love and courtesy toward one another, but which is the more valuable lesson for our daughters to learn: that they should take responsibility for themselves or that women should depend on men to make them happy? btw- I am one of those men who put the seat down. For those who refuse to put the seat down there should be a remote button to push so it comes down automatically. There ya have it another great invention in the making for our modern society.

I have always wondered what the big deal is with this.....The man has to touch it to put it up so why shouldn't the woman touch it to lower it? Hopefully everyone washes their hands afterwords anyway, oh and with soap! Not just rinse and go

The only time it gets to me is when its the middle of the night, and my eyes are glued shut from sleeping, and it's dark, and you are just looking for a place to sit, and some one left the whole seat up...wont explain all the rest of this ..I think you understand. Ahhhh....reinforcements....just in the nick of time Eli....I did my best. Thank you, thank you for standing with me. And Aslan....NEVER do I turn on the light. That would be the end of it for me. I'm really glad to hear you are one of those considerate men. We need more of you around. And to my thinking, it's only natural that any female is going to be responsible enough for herself to lower the lid if she needs to. Wouldn't she?

So, is it possible to vote no in this poll with a clear conscience? Everyone who leaves the seat up knows it should be down. But I agree with Aslan, take responsibility for keeping your own backside dry.

A man should put the seat down even if he is the only one living in the house. It just looks better as a visitor to see the seat down. Another question is, should a woman lift the seat when she is finished so the man doesn't have to? I mean if a man should put it down for the woman shouldn't she put it up for him? Only seems fair to me.... God Bless You, Mike

I say-put a lid on it. Or the dogs and cats will drink form the porcelain bowl.

This is absolutely one of the funniest blogs I've EVER read!!!! Thanks All- for the lolol. OK. Here's my take- Aslan, it sure makes sense for each person to own responsibility for a personal seating situation. (Kind of like buckling your seatbelt on the airplane before it takes off!) Yet, I'm more like songbird on this one- Groggy, middle of the night. . . I personally fell in (not a pleasant splish splash) at about 2 a.m.. What can I say, I am a deep sleeper? Yes, I could've turned the light on, but .. .didn't The remoted button sounds like the best solution. (Did anyone watch Alley McBeal when it was on t.v.?- similar idea) Does anyone else lower the seat with their shoe/slipper so they don't have to deal w/the seat much at all? Hope I'm not the only one w/that habit!!! Anyhow
