RE: Cabala and Gnostics

Gnostics believed that salvation depended solely upon the knowledge of one's "spiritual" nature. This gave them license to live a life of sin. In fact, some Gnostic leaders urged their followers to sin. They taught that promiscuity was God's law and that since they were ....."pearls"......they could not be stained by any external mud. Many believed that humans were originally unisex ...that the creation of woman was the source of evil. They taught that Jesus was merely a man. They also believed in hundreds of divine powers emanating or coming out of God.*

Gnosticws were present when 1st John was written. Those are the people being spoken of and eventually told how to be saved in verse 1 John 1:9

Gnostics are humanists today...the New Agers of the belief of enlightenment

    Good Post
Beloved Dennis,

TRUE. I found this as a synopsis
in the front of my NIV Bible:

I John. "False teachers were trying
to mislead first-century Christians
by denying among other things, the
true humanity of Christ. This view
was incorporated within the system
called Gnosticism and is the background
of much of I John.

John had two basic purposes in mind
in this letter: (1) to expose false
teachers, and (2) to give believers
assurance of salvation. In keeping
with his intention to combat Gnostic
teachers, who taught that the spirit is
entirely good and matter is entirely evil,
John specifically struck at their total
lack of morality; and by giving eyewitness
testimony to the incarnation, he sought
to confirmhis readers' belief in the
incarnate Christ. He tells the readers that
if he is successful in doing this, it
would give him great joy."

Thank you, Brother. God Bless you.

With Great Love,
