A question of wise men...

This question is just for fun and brain exercise. Wise men seem to be always placed in nativity scenes. Should they be there? Why or why not?
Yes
No

In the Book of Luke in the second chapter, starting in verse 8 we read of the shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night when the Angelic announcement came announcing the birth of the Savior. In verse 15 and 16 we read that the shepherds went into Bethlehem and found Mary, and Joseph, with the baby lying in a manger.

The story of the Magi is found in Matthew chapter 2. Reading in Matthew 2:9,10,11 we see that the Magi followed the star until it stood over where the young child was. Verse 11 tells us that Jesus and His family was in a house and not in the stable in Bethlehem. This event did not happen at Jesus' birth, it happened later on. We are not told how old Jesus was at this time. He could have been up to two years old by this time.

I LOVE the three wise Kings...

probably just as much as the 3 wise monkeys...

Or 3 stooges...

And I thought bad things come in 3's...

Well it says they actually came to His home.....so I would say no, not at the time of his birth. That is the biblical side of it. But they were bringing gifts to celebrate His birth, so they do play a vital role in the coming of the Saviour.

What amazes me is how few people seem to know what they represented. (I include myself in this -- I just happened to hear it explained, once.)

As far as the question goes, what I mean is that there definitely should not be some guys dressed in rich clothing, and who go by the name "wise man".

Conversely, in my view, they are perhaps the most important attendee, as long as they are represented correctly.

Any takers?
