Yes Drifter, It was Jehovah God that set up the equivalency.

As we know, the first Adam was perfect before the fall, and the second Adam, Christ, answered the need because he was the perfect man to match the original perfect man. A ransom of corresponding value.

Release from the consequences of Adam's sin could only be realized by having a perfect father, one who had not inherited sin and its dreadful consequences. Consider how that new father, comparable to the perfect Adam, was provided and which is why, Jesus is referred to as the eternal father. Not because he is the creator but because he gave us back our chance at eternal life through his sacrifice for us. Whereas Adam was our original earthly father, Christ is our spiritual father.
Isaiah 9:6 For there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

A ransom is the price paid to buy back or to bring about a release from some obligation or undesirable circumstance.

By paying over the value of the ransom, we were held to by the first Adam, in Heaven, Jesus opened the way for Adam's offspring to be delivered from sin and death.
Christ committed no sin and he maintained that perfection throughout his life. He was undefiled, separate from sinners.
Only the perfect blood of another could answer the case and God knew only Jesus could stand this test. That he would not fail Him.
He surrendered his life. It was not taken from him. His death was far more than a case of martyrdom because he refused to compromise his beliefs and integrity.

No imperfect human could pay that ransom!

It is because Jehovah is a lover of righteousness and justice that he dealt with the situation and upheld His righteousness, meeting the demands of absolute justice, and, at the same time, magnified His love and mercy.

God could not simply ignore His righteous standards and become a party to unrighteousness. He could not simply sidestep the requirements of absolute justice.

Christ was willing to take his part in this because he loves God so much and God knew of his great love for Him. Christ was willling to leave the heavenly realm, to be created a man, and to provide the necessary ransom.

1John 4:9+10 By this the love of God was revealed in our case, that God sent his only-begotten Son into the world so that we might gain life through him. The love is in this respect, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins.

God hold the blood of animals and humans to be sacred because 'the life is in the blood'. Without the blood in our bodies we could have no life. That is also why so many of the early Mosaic Laws used blood in the temple...because although the shed blood of animals could not match the ransom requirement, they were a 'shadow of the things to come'. They also lovingly reminded the Hebrews of their need for spiritual forgiveness.
1Corinthians 15:45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living person.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit

As the Source of life, Jehovah God has provided definite instructions reguarding the use to which blood may be put.

Hope this helps.

To be honest I haven't got the time to read all of this Post YET. But I will soon...

I have for some time been thinking this the other way around. Knowing what the Bible (the Holy Book of the Christians and the Jews) says about blood and bloodshed, I've been wondering how come this world is so focused on blood.

Look at the many horror books and horror movies. People and beasts drinking blood. Vampires and monsters of all kind. Aliens and so on.

To me it seems like the world has an unaware awareness on the Spiritual meaning of blood. The awareness of blood that God tells us in the Bible - the God and the book they don't believe in - and they do deep inside know there is something about this blood and bloodshed.

Yes we all know if you loose your blood you're dead.
But e.g if a vampire bites you, you become a vampire yourself. (The story goes).

To me it shows again how we all have the traces of God and the longing for Him deep inside us.

Just some thoughts.

Blessings
