Believing God Or Believing Man-Who Are You Obedient To?

But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: "We ought to obey God rather than men."
Acts 5:29

There are limitations of earthly laws and governments, and man's law must be subservient to the laws of God. When the two conflict, God's laws must take precedence for followers of Christ.

In what many call "post-Christian" America, the laws of God and the laws of man are not always the same. Christianity is gradually being moved to the edge of the public square in the name of religious pluralism. Every day, we hear of religious doctrine and theology that doesn't necessarily agree with our personal beliefs. So, what are we to do? What should we believe and what should we discard? Especially when it's difficult to discern, we should always take it to God in prayer. For the 2 1/2 years I've been here at BC, there's been varying viewpoints on many different topics, some of which I've been willing to consider, and study and pray about. But, the bottom line for me is the voice of the Holy Spirit. He ALWAYS leads me into truth.

Whenever there is a conflict, we must stand firm in our faith like the early apostles did in first-century Jerusalem. When the Jewish Sanhedrin tried to force the apostles to stop preaching in the name of Jesus they refused. They declared plainly that their first obligation was to obey God, not man. Every Christian today must be prepared to make that same choice by remaining committed to the faith on a daily basis and sometimes, that requires seeking the Wisdom of God to know what is right.

The Bible speaks of the spirit of Anti-Christ that is already in the world (1 John 4:3). Your faith may be tested sooner rather than later. Do not be mislead, trust ONLY in God, and be obedient to His Words, His laws, and His way of doing things. And, if you're not sure, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the Truth to you, in all things and He will surely give you peace.

NOTHING that happens, happens for NOTHING

It seems more important than ever to stay plugged into the Bible in an increasingly politically correct world, as things can become distracting, downright confusing even.

Amen. Another great post Terrie. Very important message you have brought. God Bless you for this.

Romans 14 verse 5 One person regards one day holier than other days, and another regards them all alike. 3 Each must be fully convinced in his own mind.
