66 Text Messages-WOW!!!

10/23/2009 5:16 am
Not so long ago, young people were glued to their computer screens, checking e-mails and online games. Now e-mail is the new snail-mail, and few teenagers bother with it. It's all about cell phones, texting, tweeting, and instant messaging. Studies show that the average teenager sends and receives over 2270 text messages a month. Wow, I'm lagging far behind, but sometimes send 6 or 8 a day.

How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word.
Psalm 119:9

I wonder what would happen if we had a relationship like that with our Bibles? If we stayed in touch with God's Word as frequently and tenaciously as we text and touch base with our friends, we'd have a much healthier spiritual life and a stronger grasp of the Bible. What would happen in our lives if we prayed, communicated with, and meditated on God's Word as much as with our friends and family? Can you imagine the outcome? I know personally, I notice how different things are when I get away from daily Bible study, Alan and I were both aware of this on our honeymoon, as we spent only a couple of days reading.

Just a reminder to us both of how desperately we need God and His Word, in order to stay strong and victorious. It's NOT enough just to read it once, we need a daily reminder of His instruction and admonishments.

"More to be desired are they than gold," said the Psalmist. "By them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward"
Psalm 19:10-11

Pick up your Bible today, dust it off if need be, and hear what God would speak into your life. You need it, even if you don't realize it. You WILL find great reward in keeping His texts!

God has sent us sixty-six love letters etched in heavenly handwriting. And the more we meditate upon those words the clearer His voice will resonate. The best texting is studying the texts of the Bible.

NOTHING that happens, happens for NOTHING

I don't text at all, but if we even mentally go to God's word or speak to God throughout the day, we do well.

Good Post, Terrie
I am not into the text thing at all. But your right when you say it would be something to be able to talk to God that much. Wouldn't it be great if you could see God text you and not only have to have Faith that he is talking to US> I myself have prayed much and still don't know for sure that God has answered with a voice I can understand exactly what he has said to me. Its only By my faith that I do what I do and believe that I am doing Gods will. I feel I fall short most of the time. I was just thinking about the Text thing and wish that Being a christian could be much simpler if we could at least see and not have to have a relationship with God only through Faith. Confused YES.. Fill I am Saved Yes. But ITS HARD when so many things are really in the Unknown. Just thought I would comment
God Bless

Wonderful post Terri. So true. Without our daily bread, we go hungry and just don't function as well. Busy times, and in times of the greatest need to study seem to be the times it is hardest to study. God Bless you and Alan. Hugs.

Romans 14 verse 5 One person regards one day holier than other days, and another regards them all alike. 3 Each must be fully convinced in his own mind.

Absolutely Terrie - Hugh and I do Bible Study about every day except Sunday - we just missed a couple of days after arriving home after 5 weeks of travel and having so many things to do - but it was great to get back to it last nite - we both missed being in the Word and the prayer that always goes with it.

I'm electronically challenged - I don't have a cell phone so have never texted - Hugh is going to put me on his cell plan soon so guess I will have to at least learn cell phones - can't imagine texting tho.

Good to see you back and it's good to be back too!! (((((((Terrie)))))))

How can we NOT praise Him - Marilyn
