Hello Terrie!

I'm around... interesting title!

I voted several times "Other", but still it doesn't want to show me.

I think the answer depends on the circumstances also, not only on right/wrong. How many times we have all been treated "unjustly" by the "just" system as well!

It comes in mind Luke 16:1-13. You might find some answers there.

I hope you're fine!

Continuous blessings~

I disagree with the majority here.
From a purely business only perspective all clients and customers should be treated equally in the business environment. God calls us to be fair and just in our business affairs.
To give special preference to your Christian clients in business is a reverse discrimenation. Now, outside the business environment is a different matter.

Gal. 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Your business is not the household of faith, although it is your pulpit for moving the Word. People who see your fairness in business dealings will be more attracted to the Word you speak, then if they see special treatment toward people of like faith, which the unbelieving will in turn see as a 'good ole boys network.'

Isaiah 66:2b; But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.

No Terrie, it is not wrong to favour your own, that is Christians and I think this is a good poll, God favours you so you may as well favour the ones belonging to him and you, be blessed

I find myself, once in awhile, doing side jobs in painting for friends I know that may or may not be Christians. I have a tendency to give them a "special friend" deal that I may not give to a stranger. On the other hand, I may ask a carpenter I know to do a small side job for me in hopes of getting a "special friend" price.

Are we showing partiality?

Partiality, (noun) favoring one party over another: Biased

Hmmm..... sure sounds it.

"My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others?
For example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes. If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, you can stand over there, or else sit on the floor well, doesnt this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives?
Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: Love your neighbor as yourself. But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law." James 2: 1-4,8-9 (NLT)

You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.

BASED ON NEW EVIDENCES THE COURT IS REASSESSING! LOL!
Honored members of the Jury let's therefore review the material we got at our disposition.

I think Terrie is getting confused now, since the answers seem to differ from one another!

But then again depending on where one is "focusing" and then out of the "circumstances".

Moreover it's Terrie that used the expression "favoring" herself and it might have had an impact on the answers.

But can it be really called FAVORING out of the general and vague information Terrie is providing?

As the answers have increased, we are seeing a continuous attempt to expanding and clarifying based on the previous comments.
I can notice a new focus entered now the picture: the point of view of the customers themselves: Are THEY noticing any favoritism and/or impartiality?

Did ANY of her clients ACCUSE her of impartiality?

Also, is it reasonable to mix James 2 in all of this? (James was also pointing to factual circumstances (rich vs. poor) since those there really did that, in addition to point out the discrimination IN the church itself)

Doesn't also the term "impartial" mean "fair and just", in addition to "treating all equally"?

I would like to bring in the parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard (Matt. 20:1-16), about those hired earlier in the day vs. those hired just for the last hour. All the workers receive equal payment despite the unequal duration of their work. Notice also the various reactions there and from whom they come from.

[ Beautiful parable, actually, (as the Prodigal Son's one) that shows that all are equals in God's eyes, although it has often been misused in favor of explaining degrees of blessings rather than equality, whether one being first or being last. ]

As Byron (HisGlory) has already remarked, one has to discern between the two spheres, and I would add, be aware not to MIX scriptural unified presentations that refers ONLY to God's EQUALITY IN HIS GRACE and adapting them uncritically on ALL practical life's situations (including businesses).

And as to concluding "this round" let's summarize:

There is NO partiality in giving MORE that one is required. (Logically giving more to one part implies that the other part receives less. But that's a wrong logic!)
The impartiality arises when one gives LESS THAN what one was supposed to give in the first place! And the bottom line is (as also in the parable) that NO ONE LOSES ANYTHING!

Terrie said she was already giving more ( 110% ) to ALL her client.
So where actually is this "unfair favoritism"?

Your Honor, No further arguments for the moment.

" Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord" (Romans 12:10-11).
