The world is full of angry people. All one has to do is look around-murder, assault, road rage, and prisons overflowing. But, it's not just confined to the world, it's pervasive in the church also. Surely, this should not be, but it is evident here at bigchurch. How many times each day do you see angry comments left on other's blogs, by those who profess to be Christian. Let's see what God has to say: "Don't be quick-tempered—that is being a fool."-Ecclesiastes 7:9 A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.-Proverbs 12:16 A wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless.-Proverbs 14:16 It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.-Proverbs 20:3 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.-Proverbs 29:11 God refers to angry people as fools! Not my words, but His! An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins.- Proverbs 29:22 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions.-Galatians 5:19-20 God refers to angry people as sinners, with a sinful nature! Not my words, but His! In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.-Ephesians 4:26-7 God refers to angry people as having given a foothold to the devil. Not my words, but His! And we wonder why there's no fruit evident in them. And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.-2 Timothy 2:24 God refers to angry people as not able to teach, and certainly NOT His servants. Not my words, but His! Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret-it leads only to evil.-Psalm 37:8 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.-Proverbs 15:1 A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.-Proverbs 15:18 God refers to angry people as evil, whose ambition is to stir up hatred and strife. Not my words, but His! Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.-Ephesians 4:29-32 Let your gentleness be evident to all.-Philippians 4:5 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.-Colossians 3:8 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.-James 1:19-20 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.-1 Peter 3:9 This is how God instructs us to speak. Not my words, but His! If you have a problem with it, take it up with Him. Will the angry people here read these words and change their wicked ways? Probably not, because their anger is rooted in pride and self-righteousness, they are evil and full of sin, seeking to destroy and insult. If you have been on the receiving end of their anger, take heart! Vengeance belongs to the Lord, He will repay! Pray for them because they will pay a high price for the destruction that they sow. That which they sow, is that which they will also reap. YOU just keep saying and doing the things that you know to do and say. Be a blessing, speak a blessing over others, edify and encourage the body of Christ, when at all possible, and leave the rest to Him. Continue to let the love and the light of Jesus shine through you, for all the world to see. That is what's right to do! I agree with Steve. Not angry, sad, disappointed and deflated that Christian friends could turn on each other so fast and not even blink and actually take pride in mockery and laughing at another's belief's and still think they can stand tall and think God is not unhappy with them. My heart breaks and I shake my head at some things I have been witnessing. Just sad is all I am. Sin is sin. Careful what comes across your lips & out your finger tips!!! We are all the Body of Christ. Let's treat each other as such, with the same respect we give to HIM!! Relationship advice: DO NOT make someone a PRIORITY, when they ONLY make you an OPTION!! A woman's heart should be so lost in God, that a man has to seek HIM in order to find her!!

Hi Terrie, Good post, Sis. Yes, you are right this site seems to have a lot of anger.I love the scriptures you posted. I was thinking the exact same thing you stated. Will those who really need to read this and listen do so? Probably not. We have a part to play here at B.C. and it is to glorify the Lord. Marching forward in Christ, regardless of what others do. Hi Terrie, Great post here. Anger is so continually justified by many as being okay or even necessary. And our anger is not usually God's righteous anger, but our reacting to some percieved violation of self. It's very grieving. I have also made myself a promise that I will not team up with an angry woman for life. The first time through very much "infected" me for years after it ended. Peace to you. Hi Terrie, When people are angry on a regular basis i think most definately that they are not in touch with GOD.It`s quite the opposite i think.It`s a weakness that needs to be worked on and not vented in public.Pray,Pray and Pray again.Only with GOD`S help (if they want it) can this leave somebody n peace replace that anger.Mind you in some cases it is just a momentary thing n soon put in check.These are just my thoughts n that`s coz i`m relatively new to Christianity i know how hard somethings are to stop doin.If i wasn`t a Christian i know i would be eatten up with bitterness and unhappy more often than not.Now though i`m changin almost daily and i`m SO aware of what i do,say and think. . How difficult is it to forgive those who have proven that they clearly know not what they are doing? Pray for them. Love them, even from a safe distance. Always be there from them as you would anyone you love dearly. Bless them continually. Who is not your neighbor? . Meow ? .

Some of the angry people feel persecuted. After all, they are quoting scriptures when they are attacked or confronted. So may I add, Matthew 5 10 "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." So the more logical responce should be thankfulness. Then again, we must assume that some of these people are young in the Lord, like John and James. From Luke 9: 52And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; 53but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. 54When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?" 55But Jesus turned and rebuked them, 56and they went to another village. Terrie, this is so excellent!! I try very hard to not have hard feelings toward anyone. I've spent the last couple of weeks apologizing to those I have hurt at work. The Lord has brought me to my knees on this one! If there is anyone here I have hurt in any way, please forgive me. I can't stand being at odds with anyone.  There are some here who have used anger toward others to hurt them. I've been sitting on the sidelines watching it happen. I feel I am powerless to do anything but pray that it stops soon. I'm getting more and more uncomfortable here because of all the strife. I fight every day to stay and not run. Even though I've not been the target, it still pains my heart to see it happen. Thanks for such a great post, Terrie. Did you get my last email? Blessings to you!

You have no justification to BE angry with anyone here Jean.. but your comments these last few weeks has made many lose respect for you... which I KNOW you will say you don't care about.... Your comments about the Catholic church were cruel, and so UN NECESSARY ... and caused much contention here.... Sadly when we do NOT expect these comments from those who are seen as good friends... we get that EXTRA stab of shock when it happens.... You once stated that to apologize is good for the soul.... however this time you don't seem to think it is necessary... I find that sad.... I am saddened and yes shocked and grieved over the loss of God's presence on this Board last week. Which is why I have jumped with both feet, free falled off the cliff into the trusting arms of Jesus and I am surrendering my whole being just on the Holy Spirit alone to get me thru this. TRUST. I am giving my all. More than I ever have. Lisa (Oceanblue) said something very profound on one of her posts that the Holy Spirit was here and shined HIS light so distinctly as if to part those in the light and those not. So maybe I'm mistaken, maybe God was truly here to have us witness the truths that were hidden falsly. I am praying for clarity on what really happened here and praying that we all get past it. Belief that people who obstain from sex have warped minds such as the Priest's and Pope and what about us Christians who are chosing to as well? Do we have warped minds? That's what bugged me. The mockery and the reason's why they, in your opinion, are warped. Which is what you said Jean. You laughed with other's over it and mocked and were proud to leave that up. I did not personally attack you and my post here is speaking for myself.. I just feel you lacked great wisdom in adding fire to the fuel,,, and I guess I EXPECTED more from you is all.... I really don't care what anyone says anymore.... It seems that so many want to be right all the time... at the cost of severely hurting hearts ... It's all good.... You are the one who is coming across as a very arrogant person... not me..... I have never claimed to be right all the time or even most of the time. I am very flawed, just like everyone else here. As for you expecting more from me, perhaps you should lower your expectations of me. Then you will not be disappointed. If I come across as arrogant, then that may be in the eyes of the beholders. "It was meant as a joke". Of course it was. Yet when you were told it was in horribly bad taste AGAINST CATHOLICS (which is what your entire POST was about ) We could indeed see your nastiness and your lack of concern for we who ARE celebate and called you on it. In fact- you DEFENDED your comment by removing SCRIPTURES as spoken by CHRIST which also called you out as being wrong. You then took my posts down and said I had called you a LIAR- which you were- and still are. What of your apology to ME for speaking TRUTH you did not LIKE? You make claims of being sorry for ill doings- yet you can not be fair to all? Can not admit to someone who stood against such inhuman words about "celebacy" and MEANT it when we got PERSONAL about your lack of Christ And the HOLY SPIRIT? It's nice to see you apologize for a "Joke"- but you still say your view of "catholics and the Pope" are correct- when they are not. Apologize to the Lord, Our God, the WORLD- ALL OF US and be done with it. I am sorry to disappoint you, but I will not say that my views of the Catholic religion and the office of the pope are not correct. I believe that I am correct on both points. I have never attacked any Catholics here or anywhere on a personal level and I won't. I love the Catholic people. I just don't agree with the religious system they are under. Hi Terrie, Great post here. Anger is so continually justified by many as being okay or even necessary. And our anger is not usually God's righteous anger, but our reacting to some percieved violation of self. It's very grieving. I have also made myself a promise that I will not team up with an angry woman for life. The first time through very much "infected" me for years after it ended. Peace to you. It is very grieving to my spirit to see professed Christian tear others apart. Life's too short for that, Jesus is coming soon and the harvest is ripe. However, the enemy is working overtime. Hi Terrie, When people are angry on a regular basis i think most definately that they are not in touch with GOD.It`s quite the opposite i think.It`s a weakness that needs to be worked on and not vented in public.Pray,Pray and Pray again.Only with GOD`S help (if they want it) can this leave somebody n peace replace that anger.Mind you in some cases it is just a momentary thing n soon put in check.These are just my thoughts n that`s coz i`m relatively new to Christianity i know how hard somethings are to stop doin.If i wasn`t a Christian i know i would be eatten up with bitterness and unhappy more often than not.Now though i`m changin almost daily and i`m SO aware of what i do,say and think. Yours in CHRIST, Wendy We all get angry from time to time, the key is to "not let the sun go down on it", get rid of it quickly and forgive easily. Sadly it wont change, there is a remnant in the christian faith, not all who profess to say Lord Lord will be saved.... That we be quick to listen, and slow to speak... Dear Blanche, I have never claimed to be right all the time or even most of the time. I am very flawed, just like everyone else here. As for you expecting more from me, perhaps you should lower your expectations of me. Then you will not be disappointed. If I come across as arrogant, then that may be in the eyes of the beholders. . How difficult is it to forgive those who have proven that they clearly know not what they are doing? Pray for them. Love them, even from a safe distance. Always be there from them as you would anyone you love dearly. Bless them continually. Who is not your neighbor? . Meow ? . Yes, we must pray for them and forgive them. Some of the angry people feel persecuted. After all, they are quoting scriptures when they are attacked or confronted. So may I add, Matthew 5 10 "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." So the more logical responce should be thankfulness. Then again, we must assume that some of these people are young in the Lord, like John and James. From Luke 9: 52And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; 53but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. 54When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?" 55But Jesus turned and rebuked them, 56and they went to another village. So we do not abandon the Jameses and the Johns in the body. We rebuke [ in love ], if necessary, and wait for them to mature in the Lord. Thanks for sharing those scriptures. They bring to my mind a client I have that always calls me "one of those Bible thumpers", lol And, he doesn't mean it in a nice way, so every time he calls me that, I thank him for the blessings I'll receive as a result of his persecution. Ginny, that was meant as a joke. I am so sorry that it was in bad taste and that it offended you. That was certainly not my intention. I don't remember deleting your comment. If you called me a bad name or used bad language, then that is why I deleted it. If you didn't, which I can't imagine you doing, then I ask you to forgive me for deleting it. Terrie, this is so excellent!! I try very hard to not have hard feelings toward anyone. I've spent the last couple of weeks apologizing to those I have hurt at work. The Lord has brought me to my knees on this one! If there is anyone here I have hurt in any way, please forgive me. I can't stand being at odds with anyone. There are some here who have used anger toward others to hurt them. I've been sitting on the sidelines watching it happen. I feel I am powerless to do anything but pray that it stops soon. I'm getting more and more uncomfortable here because of all the strife. I fight every day to stay and not run. Even though I've not been the target, it still pains my heart to see it happen. Thanks for such a great post, Terrie. Did you get my last email? Blessings to you! Please keep praying for those who need a healing touch in their souls, hurting people, hurt people. And that just makes everyone hurt more. I haven't gotten a mail from you lately, please try sending it again. You have no justification to BE angry with anyone here Jean.. but your comments these last few weeks has made many lose respect for you... which I KNOW you will say you don't care about.... Your comments about the Catholic church were cruel, and so UN NECESSARY ... and caused much contention here.... Sadly when we do NOT expect these comments from those who are seen as good friends... we get that EXTRA stab of shock when it happens.... You once stated that to apologize is good for the soul.... however this time you don't seem to think it is necessary... I find that sad.... I'm praying that God will release all of us from the perceived wrongs we have suffered. We're all sinners and need forgiveness and need to give forgiveness, that we'll be able to receive it. I hope that if I ever offend you, you'll forgive me! I don't always do it right either. Even friends make mistakes, none of us are what we should be, but thank God He doesn't give us what we really deserve, instead He is full of love and mercy! Hallelujah! God bless you dear one! Terrie, As regards to my remark about teaming up with an angry woman, I wanted to qualify that I'm referring to someone with a CONTINUAL disposition, not the momentary or temporary upsets that we all have from time to time, which most of us recognize and deal with if we seek to do the right thing and look to the Lord. Terrie, You hadn't cited the Scripture that has so often come to my mind regarding anger. That is Proverbs 22:24-25. "Don't make friends with a hot tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared."(NIV) Now I can leave sleeping dogs lie!LOL lolI had about 30 different scriptures to cite, so I tried to condense it, so to speak. However, I love that one! And, I can assure you that I won't! Isn't Proverbs the bomb? Such wisdom and insight in that book of the Bible.Now the dogs are asleep! Shhhhhhhhh,  Sweet dreams!
