wow, from 8am,till 4pm!! it was a whole lot of information...... they literally gave us a book the size of a phone book!!(and that is not an exageration, really, the size of a phone book....really) and that is only the first of 3 books! whew!! i havent used my brain that much for at least the past one hundred years!!! oh,and we need to cover this first book in one week,so we had to cover 4 chapters today,i think it was at least 100 pages or so. but i really enjoyed the class, there is about 20 of us in the class, but only 2 of us are rookies to computers, the rest of the guys already make a living on working on computers, they just need to get certified! so its a little stressful to ask a question because everyone in there is a computer proffesional. but i really dont care,if i need to know, well then i just need to know, and that is that!! blessings to everyone! |

On the bright side, everyone in that class had to go through the process of first learning. So I take it you're going to school instead of working right now.

When you have to read that much information, they call it the firehose method! I can relate to your stress. The great thing about being an older student is you do ask questions and if someone else doesn't like it, too bad for them! Hang it there. Taking classes can be challenging when it has been awhile since you were in school. But even more rewarding when you shut up the nay-sayers by getting a certificate or a degree. GBY Scottie

Good for you! You can do it! The brain is like any other muscle- it needs to be exercised. You'll get used to it. Maybe you can read ahead a couple of chapters at night to get any questions together for the next day. Be sure to ask questions in the beginning- if you aren't sure on the foundational issues-- the rest won't make sense. It won't take long for everything to "mesh" and start making sense. Sticking around people who knew computers and listening to them talk is how I learned a lot of what I know. When you have an interest in what you are doing- you'll pick it up a lot quicker than you think. You're a big man and one that is not easily intimidated- that book ain't nothing but a good meal! I have faith in you-- you CAN do this--and easily!!
