Help!! How do I lighten or darken small areas of a digital image??? Do I have to buy fancy software or are there budget ways to do this? I googled 'free burn dodge software.' I downloaded a program I found there but it actually did nothing, absolutely nothing. Any advice??? | ||

I suppose you need a program similar to Photoshop, where you can select part of an area (a contour, not a four corners selection), then work on it and put it back merging it. Don't you have some Photo Suite programs included in your software? It could be possible to do something with them as well, although less professionally. For instance, do you have the function for removing "Red Eyes"? If you could move (relocate) that selection on another part of the picture and enlarge the area, I'd say it might work. (Let me know!) Haven't actually worked with photos for years... it took me too much time and my eyes got very tired at the end! LOL! 474

I have freebie software that takes out red eye and I can remove entire objects. I just want to lighten specific areas. I did dark room developing years ago and burning & dodging were easy procedures. So I know what I want to do - I just am not familiar with the digital versions! I'll check into the red eye method of burning.

I don't have photoshop... too expensive. I use photoshop elements - a scaled down version - and it does fine for me. There are dodge and burn tools in it... Well there are in my version (V3 I think). Not sure if the new version is the same. Blessings to you... "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness..." Matt 6:33.
