So, where/how do you want to be interred??

My mom just informed me that she is selling her grave plot next to my dad. She wants to cremated and distributed among her children. I'm to scatter some of her ashes in her favorite places in Maine.

What will you do with your remains???

I am being caught up in the second coming.
My brother had wanted to be cremated-- and I had a really hard time dealing with that- and even more when I found out that my sister-in-law was going to scatter them-- so I paid for three urns and the shipping to get them sent me. The family is still dealing with his sudden departure-- so I still have the urns.
I had my two recent-passed cats cremated. I wish I had known about that years ago when my beloved husky fell ill-along with all the other cats who have gone on since then. I will continue to do that with my animals.

There is a beautiful cemetery not far from me that I actually love to walk through. It is old and has beautiful trees and paths all throughout it.I guess if I go before the Lord returns that is where I want to be. I know my body would love resting there.

Yep, I think going in the second coming would be great. Did you loose your brother recently? I'm so sorry for your loss.

Is it a family crypt? Family tradition is nice in that respect.

I want to be cremated but have not decided for sure what to do with the remains. I so love nature and like the idea of being scattered...but for those left behind, I know that they sometimes appreciate a place to go when mourning.

As long as I am not stuffed and hung on a wall somewhere, I don't really care. I just don't want to be a financial burden on my family when I die. Cremation is the cheaper way to go. So go ahead and put me in the fire because my soul will be spending eternity elsewhere.

I liked the scatter in nature idea until I went to a family reunion 4 years ago. We toured a small cemetery where many of our relatives are buried including my great great grandfather. I took pictures of my daughters next to their great great great grandfather's marker. It was then that I realized that it would be nice to have a fixed, marked burial place = not for me but for descendants. Will I have great great great grandchildren??

I use to have plots next to each of my exhusbands but I sold them so I could go on a cruise instead.

Good plan - be buried at sea...

True Story
Years ago I designed my own coffin. Bought the Walnut wood and just never got around to doing it. It was designed with a built in radio and a place for snacks. But that was back before the internet.

So I think I will redesign it with an internet connection. That way it won't make much difference where I am buried....I'll still be able to reach the world.

True story??? Um... You don't plan to be dead before you're buried???

My daughters won't ever let it happen but.........I want to be packed into a make shift egg and put up high along the cliff in an Eagles nest.

That way I can always soar with the eagles.

Then again, I could be like that ol boy who was told by a dr. he would soon die. On the way home he found a genie...yes the genie gave him a wish.....he thought about reincarnation then about all the animals, then he told the genie........I want to be a stud.

3 weeks later he died and the next day a carpenter was nailing him to the frame work of a new house.

Moral of the story.........let the living take care of the burial.

Ha, ha, ha... Soar with eagles... What's that 'Fly Like an Eagle' song?? Play that at your funeral!

I agree with your story's moral, though. I prefer the cheapest burial possible and I like the idea of my remains being absorbed by the roots of a tree. But it's the living that benefit from funerals & burial places. I respect my children's desire if they prefer my remains be in a marked spot. But unless the Lord returns or a bus finds me I think I have a lot more than three weeks to live...
