The Bride's Girlfriends (or The Ten Virgins) Scripture: Matthew 25:1-13 1 "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them; 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a cry, `Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.' 7 Then all those maidens rose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, `Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' 9 But the wise replied, `Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you; go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.' 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other maidens came also, saying, `Lord, lord, open to us.' 12 But he replied, `Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.' 13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. The oil represents the Holy Spirit in the life's of the 5 wise virgins and what they said was/is true we can't give our salvation to others. Our salvation and relationship to the Lord is personal and only God can/will give it to us and we must come to Him through the Son. So does God have any Grandchildren? Nope! He sure doesn't! We can't get into heaven because our mom, dad, aunt, or sister was a Christian we must believe, repent, and follow after Jesus all on our own!
Important message for all the BC men! No women allowed!! No this isn't a woman hating man's club

I read a quote by A.W.Tozer yesterday that I thought of when you asked if God has grandkids. It is along a little different vein than the point you are making here but...He said,
"An infinite God can give all of Himself to each of His children. he does not distribute Himself that each may have a part, but to each one He gives all of Himself as fully as if there were no others."
WHAT A FULL THANKSGIVING WEEKEND...

Were the ones who oftentimes make the distinctions about other believers sadly not with God's agape love. That old fallen nature sure likes to try and get pride back up out of the grave huh? |

My Dad was raised a Catholic but as far as I know fell away a long time ago.In his latter years he was very sick and I tried talking to him about Jesus but he just said,"It's too late for that".I told him "Your never too old & it's never too late to accept Jesus as your Saviour unless your dead".He wasn't willing to listen to me then. I lived far away & didn't see him after that but my Mom who had been divorced from him for many years{he had abused her when they were first married til she separated from him, then years later he got remarried only to get divorced again} told me he said to her,"Put in a good word for me in prayer,___.He did think that somehow nepotism would save him instead of the relationship he had in Christ.Did he believe in Christ?Well he was raised a Christian, did he repent & follow, highly unlikely but thats only my estimation as God is the one who knows the true hearts of men.
gregduncan replies on 6/7/2008 6:25 am: Loki when Jesus judges the hearts of all men we will all nod our heads in agreement that it was done justly. Only God Himself knows if your dad finaly opened his heart up to Him and if he did even while on his death bed then salvation would have been his by God's wonderful love and grace! |

I think my mom thought I was saved cause we were raised christians - she never understood why I got baptized as an adult - she said; "you were baptized as a baby" I had to explain it to her. A lot of people thnk this way I think - Good post gregg about the virgins - amen
gregduncan replies on 6/7/2008 6:30 am: Hey Matthew Jesus will tell a multitude of church goer's "depart from me I never knew you". It's all about a very real and personal relationship with Him. That's why we are called by Him to share the Gospel and pray for the Holy Spirit to open to their hearts to the truth. Good to see you bro! |

Before I was saved I remember calling my mom and asking her to pray...Of course she always did, but she would always tell me...God won't change you without you asking for yourself. Thank you Lord I finally asked. Very Cool post!!
