2 Peter 3:12 "Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?" KJB Our Bible tells us that we cannot know the time of the Second coming of Christ, so how is it that we can hasten that day? The answer seems too simple to be true, but it is by bringing it closer by being the witnesses for Him that He commands us to do. If all the worlds born-again Christians would actually do that command, then the day of His coming will be brought closer. The actual phrase which is used can also be understood as "hastening the coming" of our Lord's day. We are given numerous signs of that day that our Lord will come back and defeat Satan and bind him for a thousand years, then loosed for a time then cast into the lake of fire for all eternity. Our Lord also said that no on could know or determine the exact time: not even Himself. We read this from the Apostle Mark: "Of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father" (Mark 13:32) KJB. Because at the time, when He said this, He was still in His very limited human form, yet still being God, however, it seems that it depended upon what the disciples would do after He returned to heaven to be with the Father to "hasten his coming." As I said earlier, He said: "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1: We read again in 2 Peter this: "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise" to come again and He desires "...that all should come to repentance..." (2 Peter 3:9) KJB. Therefore we should understand and "...account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation" (2 Peter 3:15) KJB. As I said before, no one but the Father knows who the last convert will be, so if we want to hasten His coming back, we should be those witnesses and reach the darkest corners of the earth with the Gospel because we know that the Gospel is what saves and if we "...love his appearing..." (2 Timothy 4: What about you, have you been His witness for Him? If no, then why not? Understand this, if we as His disciples, do not witness for His names sake, that hastening of His coming will be delayed, is that what you want? Good post, friend. Blessings to you. ![]() Romans 14 verse 5 One person regards one day holier than other days, and another regards them all alike. 3 Each must be fully convinced in his own mind.
