"Look, Virginia! There IS a social life!"

Don't hate me. I've been unfaithful. After 4 years of coaxing myself out of my comfort zone to go and meet some other singles in person, I finally did it!!

Here is how it has gone. The First Friday Fellowship takes place on the first friday of the month (duh, that one was for you Eli777) Are you with me? On the first Saturday of the month I vow to go to the one next month. I mark it on my calendar again. I remember, and then, I sit down on the couch and stare at the clock. Then the many faces of Eve begin combat.

Courageous Calvary Grad: I better hurry up and get ready!!

Procrastinating Calvary Grad: I've got about a half an hour before I need to start getting ready. I'll just rest a minute.

Self-pitying Calvary Grad: I'm too old for this sh---. God, I had a husband! I never thought I would have to date again.

God frowns.

Immature Calvary Grad: It's Your fault he's dead, God.

5th Stage of Grief Calvary Grad: Okay, I accept that the Lord gives and the Lord takes away, but if we are accepting things, let's just peer into reality.

13 year old going on 100 Calvary Grad: They will think I'm fat. I don't have anything good to wear. My hair won't do a thing. I don't want to have to redo my makeup just to come home and do that whole thing again. Anyway they are probably all 20.

Procrastinating Calvarygrad: I better wait until I save up and get a facelift and maybe a little liposuction.

Defeated Calvary Grad: Maybe I'll just watch a movie. Should I order a pizza or go get ice cream.........

Giddy and Relieved Calvarygrad:

I had a great time. There was food and boardgames and big screen TV. There was volleyball in the gym. (In case anyone is interested I did not play volleyball. Do you have any idea how long it took me to get ready? Uh-huh. Add 30 minutes.)

Although we were in the student life center (and a very cool one), the people there were about my age and there were even men I wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen with in a restaurant. Then, they are probably taken, right girls?

I dunno, fellow bloggers. I might become as infrequent a guest as our friend, Kentucky busy dad. (Jim, if you're reading this, you still owe me a cup of coffee. Can we please go to Starbucks this time instead of Denny's?)

Oh, btw, if anybody's interested: I found out there are 10,000 Christian singles in the Houston area. It will be very hard to avoid a date, but I'll do my best.

Soldiering on....

Should I copyright this?

    Quoting busykydad:
Starbucks it is! I'll have a caramel dulce de leche, what will you be having? Now, we just have to coordinate which Starbucks...there are two in Paducah...

I'm glad you had such a good time!
You found it! Which Starbucks would YOU prefer? I'm sure you know best.

Oh yeah, I forgot. "I'll have what he's having."
