I was amazed when I read John Wesley's budget. John Wesley was eventually one of England’s most wealthy citizens. Yet, as his income sharply increased, look at what happened to his spending habits:
......... ............. Income ......... Living Expenses ....To the Poor
First year: ....... 30 pounds .. 28 pounds (93% ) ....... 2 pounds (7% )
Second year: . 60 pounds ...28 pounds (47% ) ......32 pounds (53% )
Third year:....... 90 pounds ...28 pounds (31% ) ......62 pounds (69% )
Fourth year: ...120 pounds ...28 pounds (23% ) ......92 pounds (77% )
Later: .........>1,400 pounds ..30 pounds (2% ) .>1,400 pounds (98% )

Year after year the giving increases, his giving to the poor increases to the point where he is giving 98% away and his living expenses barely change.

That is amazing...he maintained his living expenses much the same...in fact the value gets less and less with each year if inflation was about then ...and gave the rest...truly a man for God and mankind! His life speaks greatly to us all! thanks...

R. G. LeTourneau (inventor of great earth moving machines and husband of the founder of LeTourneau University) lived on 10% of his income and gave 90% to the Lord.

I think that I heard the same about J.C. Penney.

Hey!,,,,,but what would happen if one of us would win the lottery? How would we handle all that mula? I ask myself, would I get geedier, and more stupid when giving away money?? Ha ha!

You know, that is a real fear of mine. I think God allows people to get rich with the expectation that wealth can be administered properly, and of course, not to love it!

Yes it's all about want we need in our life and not our greed...so many live beyond their means and find themselves in trouble..bankrupt etc.....if they practiced this method they would stay on top always....all those with mass wealth need to look carefully as they swander so much for their needs and greed.....

John Wesley was an amazing man. I guess it does not suprise me to greatly to hear this, as the life he lived really did match the words he preached and the hymns he wrote. An inspiration to us all! He also had an amazing mum!
