Thomas Edison performed 50,000 experiments before he succeeded in producing a light bulb that did not quickly burn out. We might assume the famous inventor would have had some serious doubts along the way. But when asked if he ever became discouraged working so long without results, Edison replied, “Results? Why, I know 50,000 things that won’t work.”
He is quoted as saying, “Genius is 2% inspiration and 98 % perspiration” . Edison worked 18 hour days and practiced Herculean patience. Once he recognized the value of an idea, Edison stayed with the process until he discovered its secret. His alkaline storage battery became a reality after 10,000 failed experiments!

One of my heroes. At age seven Thomas Edison was removed from school and his mother home schooled him. Edison was hyperactive, hard of hearing, and spoke to himself. Additionally Edison has life long problems with cognition, speech, and grammar. There is a theory that Edison suffered from what we refer today as ADHD(attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). Nancy Edison was the daughter of a Presbyterian minister and a teacher. She taught her son the Three Rs and the Bible. Thomas Edison has a total of three months of formal education. As such, he was precluded from secondary school(e.g. engineering, physics, mathematics). He was also afflicted with scarlet fever. Ultimately he became deaf in his left ear, and approximately 80% deaf in his right ear.
In the 1880's Edison bought property in Ft. Myers, Florida and built a winter retreat. Henry Ford lived a few hundred feet away from him. During the summers Edison, Ford, President Harding, and Harvey Firestone would go camping together. Boy would I have loved to have been a mouse in the corner!!!!!
En route to a new campsite on a rainy day, the Lincoln touring car carrying Harding, Ford, Edison, Firestone and naturalist Luther Burbank bogged down in deep mud on a back road in West Virginia. Ford's chauffeur went for help and returned with a farmer driving an ancient Model T. After the Lincoln was yanked from the mire, Ford was the first to shake the farmer's hand. I guess you don't know me but I'm Henry Ford. I made the car you're driving. Firestone chimed in, "I'm the man who made those tires." Then he introduced two of the campers: "Meet the man who invented the electric light -- and the President of the United States." Luther Burbank was the last to shake hands. "I guess you don't know me either?" he asked. "No," said the farmer, "but if you're the same kind of liar as these other darn fools, I wouldn't be surprised if you said you was Santa Claus."
Edison filed for his last patent(1,093) at the age of 83. On October 18, 1931 he passed away at age 84. He awoke briefly from a coma and said to his wife Mina, "It is very beautiful over there."
An amazing man, who overcame life's challenges and lived his dream of creating and inventing.

PERSEVERANCE it isn't always the rabbit that wins the race, the tortoise can tell us a lot..... One Must CONTINUE until a result or method is found.... It is easy to throw in the towel, many just give up and there are many great inventions now laying in a grave yard I hope all my thoughts don't end up there,I am still persevering along the road... Hoping to forefill all my dreams Gods Blessings, protection, love & guidance Terry chris

Wow...what genius and perspiration...his 'failures' built his character of tenacity and patience!! >>> acting as stepping stones to his successful experiments...
Man can make many plans...BUT it is the Lord who will direct his paths....
