Why be on the road when there are so many other things doing basically the same thing?

How easy is it to change the channel on the tv from the Christian station to the secular station?

How easy it to change the dial on the radio from the Christian station to the secular station?

How easy it to pay money for public transportation or pay a full blown cab fare?

God's plan of Salvation is free, so why should not the ride be also?

Sure there are social services and Churches to do life's dirty work lest we get our hands soiled. Sure we can pray and donate money and that is a good thing, but should there not be at least one person in every local body of believers willing to step in personally and just do?

Who is that one person or a few people in your local body of believers? Do they know you support them, by at least a pat on the back and an occasional how can I be of assistance?

Who are the shut-ins in your body of believers? Do you know what is being done for them? Would you like to know?

Who are the ones who need help with food daily and or weekly among you? Do you know what is being done for them? Would you like to know?

Who are the ones who are having trouble finding or keeping jobs to support themselves less a family in your midst? Do you know who they are?

I could go on and on with these questions, and personally I try to find out who these individuals are. I can not always do something but I might be able to find someone who can. Why should they feel isolated, alone, discouraged and hopeless?

The person who I would like to help me tomorrow is homeless and I really needed some concrete tangible suggestion on how I could help him other than prayer. So far I have had no suggestions, why?

How can we come together if we can not even come up with suggestions to solve real life problems?

And you wonder why I get disgusted with christians sometimes?

How many opportunities will you squander?

I am sure I will be given some good answers none the the less, but I am disappointed.

This is why faith is so important, humans are very fallible, including myself !!!

What will you do with the next opportunity ?

 One thing that I have noticed is that the ones that have the least care about the ones that have less. This is sad but it is a very good post and hopefully it will witness to many.

 Awesome post Pete, and ...I will hold you up in prayers Brother. I don't ignore or squander the opportunities as I see them. I recognize the needs here and I do all I can to help. Just your statement alone says volumns.....RE: Material riches are the most useless things we own------

 you know it is sometimes very difficult but we should all help in any way we can if your brother asked for a fish would you give him a snake?.we can all get caught up in our on little comfort zone in this world but its a constant reminde that we as christains should show and share with others the lords love and how can we say we are off the lord when one asks for help and we do not offer remember we are all his children

 First off....Pete I can understand your frustration. The first thing people need to fo is ask the Holy Spirit what they shoud do and if anything at all. Do what God asks you to do.

Not everyone is a toe, a finger or a hand or whatever. If you raise money you may or may not stop what God is doing in their lives.

I have been down and out. When I lost my job at Pepsi 16 years ago I had a wife, a son and pets to take care of. I had to beg money, that I later repaid.I had to work jobs that I hated and no one else would do just to have food. I lost my house.

There were times things happened that i just did not understand. I had to live with friends while my family lived with my mother in law.
But I learned alot through this. God was with me through all of this.What seemed for bad, God was using for good.

And the fact is....unless the Holy Spirit tells you what to do and puts it on your heart to do something, you may just end up being an enabler. So I say again. Do not rely on things you think are the good and proper thing to do. rely on the Holy Spirit.

 Pete, I just saw this and I wanted to respond.

I too do all that I can.

When my truck is running I provide transportation for those who don't have any to wherever they need to go.

I go to visit older ladies who are handicapped and help with chores and personal hygene things they need done as often as I am able to do so.

I find it so sad that those like you and I who are disabled/handicapped ourselves, living on next to nothing, are the ones who are doing this type of service for the Lord while the able-bodied and financially stable seem to sit back in their easy chairs without lifting a finger.

God Bless you dear brother, for your sacrifices to our Lord.
