HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY GRANDSON!!!!

 Ten years ago today I became a grandmother for the very first time! My daughter, after having lost her first child in a miscarriage, gave birth to my oldest grandson at 6:07 P.M. on November 19th 1996.

This blonde haired, blue eyed darling slept the first few nights of his life in his grandmother's arms. I held him there, in a chair in his mom's hospital room. I wanted to know that he was safe and secure.

He is a very intelligent young man and I'm not just saying that because he is my grandson. He could count to 16 and recognized those numbers as well as all his alphabet, upper and lower case by the time he was 3 years old. He also knew a lot of his shapes by then: circle, square, rectangle, heart, diamond, octagon, pentagon. He could also name a dozen or more dinosaurs.

Last year he took the state tests for children exiting 3rd grade and made a perfect score on one of them and a 99 on the other. To the amazement of most of his teachers and the rest of the faculty, as he has had difficulty with getting his work completed and with being a restless child in class. I believe they have finally realized that he is bored stiff and needs to be challenged more. Needless to say, I am very proud of him.

 Wish him a happy birthday for me Cecilia - you do sound like a very proud Grandma - we call ya'll Grannies out here!

 My son's boy's call me granny, the other's call me grandma. Doesn't matter to me what they call me, just as long as they call!

Yes, Pat, my kids and grandkids are God's greatest gifts to me. His name is Marshall, after my maternal grandfather.
