Do You Agree?

This is a quote from a personal friend of mine with which I agree. If we have these five in common then we are family and the rest is what is generally argued over.

"There are 5 "drop dead" things we must agree on.

1) The Virgin Birth.
2) Jesus' Sinless Life.
3) His Redeeming Death.
4) His Bodily Resurrection.
5) The Bible as the Full Word of God to Us.

Outside of these five we have many differences of opinion. True seekers won't let those get in the way of doing Kingdom work, reaching the lost and caring for the Body."

How can we NOT praise Him - Marilyn

Praise the Lord, sis, I just wanted to find some common ground. The foundation from where we can begin to build a true fellowship here and perhaps build a mighty force for the Lord.

Redbird, I grew up in a house filled with strife over the division of religions. I swore I would love my brothers and sisters in Christ and not allow the optional parts to drive me away from the people I care about. So you can take it to the bank when I tell you that I don't give a rodents rump if you speak in tongues or not, dunk vs sprinkle ...etc. Your my sister and you can't do anything about that!

We are just one big marginally dysfunctional always lovable family.

Sounds a bit like you could use a hug today.

Robyn, I can always use a hub, sweetie, and I just wanted everyone to think about what we have in common and stop thinking about what we don't.

I agree with these five. Absolutely positively, Sis!

Romans 14 verse 5 One person regards one day holier than other days, and another regards them all alike. 3 Each must be fully convinced in his own mind.

Isn't it wonderful, sis, when we look at the Lord in one another?

i have a little trouble with #5.
i believe the Bible is the inspired word of GOD.
but i don't believe it is the end of GOD speaking to us.
i believe GOD continues to speak to HIS people through HIS church.
The Bible tells us to honor tradition.

the Bible is a wonderful love letter from GOD but as it says in John 1:1-3,14 JESUS is the full WORD of GOD. And HE continues to speak to the world through HIS bride, the Church.

redbird1122 replies on 9/16/2006 10:03 am:
Lonnie, I understand what you are saying. But I look at number 5 of ways. First, I see it as meaning that all of it is Gods word, you can't pick and choose what is of God and what isn't. There are specific places, however, where the writer indicated that what they were writing was their own thoughts. Second, I see it as meaning that even though God continues to speak to us today, what we receive from Him can always be confirmed by the Bible. If the Bible does not confirm it then it wasn't from God.

also we need to agree that only Jesus is the fully God/man who mediates and secures our salvation..there is no other..

redbird1122 replies on 9/16/2006 12:28 pm:
Oh, yes, sis, you are absolutely right. I believe that is what is meant if not directly said by #3 His Redeeming Death. No one else's death has the power to redeem us.

So do you think that changeing the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday can be supported from the Bible?

redbird1122 replies on 9/16/2006 12:24 pm:
When it comes to the Sabbath, I look at what Jesus felt about it. What did He say? What did He do? Are we not to follow in His footsteps? Mt.12:1-13, Mark 2:23-28, Mark 3:2-5, Luke 13:14-17, John 5:1-12, John 7:21-24, John 9:1-14,
