I Still Have You

Just a little girl in a great big world,
with memories that she can't bear
Hurt and abused, by her parents used,
she feels that no one really cares
But one Christmas time beneath a star that shines,
she met a baby in a manger bed.
And He'll be her friend until the very end
because that's what her Bible said.

Then she's twenty, and she's married,
living half way 'round the world.
And she wonders how it all went wrong
as she rocks her little girl.
She feels alone, afraid and sometimes so mad
that her anger turns hot red.
But in a sudden flood that red turns
to blood that for her on the cross He shed.

Chorus

I still have you and you're the only one
who has been there through the years.
I still have you and you've been faithful
to dry away my tears.
And when my heart gets broke and I'm all alone
and my mind gets filled with fears
I just thank my heavenly Father,
because I know I still have you.

Broken-bodied and broken hearted
she lays on a jail house floor.
Now she's forty-four, thinks she can't
bear much more as she hears that closing door.
But, as she turns to look around her,
she sees Jesus in someone's face.
And she's grateful that He's still with her,
even though she's in this place.

Later, in a family shelter with
no place to call her home,
Once more He is the provider and
she knows she's not alone.
Through her life He's sent her family,
sisters, brothers, parents, friends.
No matter where she goes or what happens next
she knows He'll do it all again.
