Modern Day Fleece

My daughter graduated from high school in 1995 and shortly thereafter became pregnant. She lost this baby then had my oldest grandson in 1996 and then my granddaughter in 1997. All three of the children's dad's left her when they found out that she was pregnant claiming that the child wasn't theirs.

Fast forward to 2001. We went to court with the oldest childs dad so that I could have legal custody of him. He would be 5 years old in November and his dad had only seen him once when he was an infant. Dad decided he wanted to be a part of the boy's life which my daughter and I had been praying for. We rejoiced.

Before too long dad was in constant contact with my daughter and was implying that he wanted to get back together with her. My daughter was hesitant to say the least, as was I. So we begin to pray about it. They begin to e-mail back and forth regularly and he would come and see his son and take my daughter out as well. My daughter still loved him but didn't know what to do. She felt like the Lord was giving her a second chance but wanted to make sure. She decided to put a fleece before Him.

Mother's Day was coming up and dad was coming to see her and the son. My daughter asked God to let her know what His will was concerning she and dad by having dad bring her a rose. If there were no flowers at all, if there were flowers but they were not roses or if it was a rose but red then they were just to be parents of the same child but not close at all, if it were a yellow rose then they were to be just friends, but if the rose were a peace rose, red and yellow then they were meant to be together.

When my daughter told me about this, I told her that I felt she was going a little bit too far with her fleece. I thought she was getting too detailed. I feared for her, that she would be disappointed. She told me that she had already prayed about it and had already laid this fleece before God and she wouldn't back out now.

Mother's day arrived and dad showed up empty handed. Then he told my daughter that there was something in the car for her. She went out to his car and as she walked up to the porch, where I was waiting with bated breath, she pulled a vase of flowers from behind her.

FIVE PEACE ROSES, ONE FOR EACH YEAR SINCE THEIR SON HAD BEEN BORN.

As tears ran down my and her faces she told me that she knew that nothing was too detailed for God. They got married that October and just recently bought their first home. They are very happy and he is a wonderful daddy not only to his own son but to my granddaughter as well.

You can still place a fleece before the Lord and He will let you know what His will is for you and that it is Him, His voice that you are hearing. I know, because I have seen it done!

I believe we should be very specific even in our prayers. I pray God's blessings on you and yours. Love in Christ, Elizabeth

My daughter got very specific and she taught her old mom a lesson in the process. Whoever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Anyone who is willing to learn, can.

Beyond the realms of doctrine, beyond the realms of our human understanding, eh sis !!! Beyond what our 'finite ' minds deem as Holy or Good or Right....... wayyyyy beyond our understanding !!! Im so glad you told me to read this post. It has put a huge warmth in my heart and smile on my face. I believe it simply comes down to God knows the desires of our heart, and sometimes when we lose our way, He just loves to encourage us with His personal touch. Roses from the Lord . Its beautiful and I stand in total agreement with what you have written.... similar has happened in our life too.!
What a God we have and what a beautiful Heart He has. God bless your daughter and her family soo much. Reading this has definitely made my day Cecilia !!!! HUGSSSSSS.
