Yesterday saw violent string of deadly tornadoes in parts of Eastern Iowa. One of which was unusually large. The single largest tornado will likely be rated at least an EF4, was on the ground for over 3 hours, varied in width between a quarter mile to a full mile, and tore a hundred mile long path near US Highway 20 which flattened the towns of Hazelton, and Parkersburg, resulting in 7 confirmed deaths so far, and over 50 injured.
Many of the survivers lost everything they owned and can certainly use our prayers, as well as the family members of those who were killed or injured.

Brad had a tornado in Minnesota. He said he only lost one tree.
Scary. I am marking that a "con" to moving there.
That is scary stuff. I would hate to have to live and worry that you just never know when they will hit.
Very sad and heartbreaking to hear when this happens.

jersygirl. we live with the fear of an earthquake here, at least with tornadoes you know when the weather is right for their development, but an earthquake just strikes without prior warning.. You trust in God for His divine protection and walk close to him.

Hey there Freewayryder - when I was out in Cali with Rob (Zogman) Mar/Apr I got home after a day on the freeways and one of them, can't remember the number now, I'd have to ask him is bumpy. It was going on so long I actually had to look around me to see if this is what an earthquake was but it was the roads - LOL. Wild!! We walked into his house and I said to his mother, "You freaking California drivers are crazy" and she threw up her hands and said "Welcome to California!" It was funny, I was exhausted. I live in more conjested area NY/NJ with more traffic than California will ever know and aggressive drivers but I found (no offense) Cali to be in their own selfish world in a 5 fast lane highway with no consideration of others. But that just my humble opinion!!
The earthquake feeling was wild and I am glad when Rob joked that they were due, maybe one will happen while I was with them - NICE!!
I'd still move there, it was beautiful but when Rob and I looked at houses and the pricing, OH MY!!! I don't have a million in my back pocket, tyvm!! LOL

Okay Ginny, Brad who? You now got a b.f. we don't know about?
Actually tornadoes are quite common in Iowa, and especially from mid April through June, but the vast majority of them are small and isolated, and seldom do a lot of damage, and almost never kills anyone. It's the kind of thing that is usually made out to be a much bigger deal then it really is. Like Freeway Ryder said, a tornado is not something that occurs suddenly out of the blue. We usually have hours or even days notice of the possibility, just we don't know where and when it actually will occur.
