The Old Violin

The words to this song have a lot of meaning for me-

Well it was battered & scared & the Auctioner felt it was hardly worth his while, to waste much time on the old violin but He held it up with a smile.- It sure ain't much but its all we have left, guess we aught to sell it too.So who'll
start the bid on this old violin, just one more & we'll be through.
One-Give me One Dollar-Who'll make it Two- Only Two Dollars? Who'll make it Three? Three Dollars twice now thats a good price, but who has a bid for me.Raise up your hand & don't wait any longer- The Auction's about to end- Who's got four- just one dollar more to bid on this old Violin.

Well the air was hot & the people sat around as the sun was setting low- From the back of the crowd a grey haired man came forward, picked up the bow. He wiped the dust from the old violin & He tightened up the strings-
Then He played out a melody pure & sweet, just as sweet as the Angels sing Then the Music stopped & the Auctioneer with a voice that was quiet & low
He said " Who has a bid for this old violin" & He held it up with the Bow- OOOHHHHHHH!
Then He Cried out- " ONE, GIVE ME ONE THOUSAND_WHO"LL MAKE IT TWO?ONLY TWO THOUSAND
WHO"LL MAKE IT THREE? THREE TOUSAND TWICE,
THATS A MIGHTY FAIR PRICE, BUT WHO HAS A BID FOR ME!" The people called out " What made the change? We Don't Understand."
& The Auctioneer stopped & said with a smile-

"It was the Touch- of the MASTERS Hand."

Now Many a Man has a life out of tune & is battered & scared with sin,& He's auctioned cheap to a thankless world- much like the old violin.
Then the MASTER comes, & the foolish crowd, just cannot understand- The WORTH of a SOUL when the change is wrought-Just by the Touch of the MASTERS HAND.
I am much like that old violin it only takes the touch of the Masters hand to put me back in tune
& make me sing praises & he can do the same for anyone if they will let him.
May God Bless You, & hopefully This blog struck a Chourd in your heart.( My sense of Humor showing)

You must know, my friend, this blog post put me to tears...please check your email and yes you can reply as a standard member since I sent you one. If you need assistance. Ask here. His grace is sufficient to many on BC, let no one feel that our mere contributions which seem to reveal only parts of our self's affect others in very significant ways. Sometimes it is only a few words, other times it is a story but the result of our efforts is always in His hands. Blessings to you.

Welcome back Indescribeable - I have not recieved a email from you as I write this but will check back a little latter. I cannot remember who did this song as it was some 15-20 years ago when I first heard it. I posted my history before this blog so others could see the work
The Lord is doing in me God Bless you .

Wayne Watson did this song about that many years ago, but I don't know if He's the original writer. This song speaks so much to me of how God can take our ordinary life and make the most incredible song--if were willing to allow Him to play the song as He desires. The violin doesn't say, "play this chord" or "speed it up", the violin simply allows the master to play it's own tune out, submissive to His will.

That's how we need to be, submissive to allow Him to play the song from us that will bring the most glory to HIM.

Thanks for sharing.
