LIVE SHOWS and CONCERTS I have been TO, Selected
Several artists are NOT listed, explained below.

VERSION: 8/18/2008. *1*

My MAIN LIST for SHOWS:
Who wants to DO something, like see SHOWS or MOVIES, or catch the SIGHTS?

INTRO:

In my EARLY years, I really couldn't afford to attend many shows.

That changed in recent years; and so I began to attend more Live shows.

I started with a big name: Paul McCartney! LOL.

But I still haven't seen as many as I might like to.

For years, starting when I was about 18 and a half, I basically stopped listening to secular music. LOL. On principle. "Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it flow the Springs of Life!" I could have just filtered the lyrics, I suppose, but I had other reasons to stop as well. Not the least of which, radio was frustrating--I was always flipping the dial! And as a believer, I didn't spend much time with people who actively listened to secular music. I didn't have cable and MTV. And, I couldn't really afford to buy albums. And I lived in places where people PLAYED music, and had the TV going a lot. I occasionally listened to contemporary Christian radio.

I did this for 15 years! LOL.

Of course, one can't entirely get away from music when one lives in a big city. So I heard it everywhere. TV, movies, stores, in school (where I took music for years ), people's cars, people's houses, family members, even in grocery stores and elevators! LOL.

But feeling personally embarrassed that I had never heard Washington's own Nirvana, and their famous song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" -- a song that basically brought Grunge into the mainstream -- I slowly began to selectively listen again to Secular music, though I still don't really listen much to the radio.

I also started to buy CDs, mostly Best-of CDs, which, again, I couldn't previously afford. Now I have a sizeable CD collection. LOL. But at times, I still love the silence.

Before listening again, I had over the years gone to several Christian shows. (An assembly I attended put them on.)

Shows listed:

I went to some shows for reasons other than knowing I liked it, such as someone inviting me, someone suggesting it, or me expanding my musical horizons as a musician, composer, lyricist, and songwriter.

So, from this list, you might NOT get a very good idea of what I like, which is mostly Pop and Rock, and some of the better stuff from most other musical genres.

Generally NOT listed here are Trade Shows, Conventions, and similar events, etc., though I attended several of them.

Now for the lists, what I can remember anyway. LOL. Christian and Secular are listed here and there.

CHRISTIAN and called Christian (selected):

  • A LARGE number of TV performances that are not listed.
  • A large number of venue performances not listed.
  • A number of performances I myself sang or played in. (Not listed here.)

    EVENTS
: (Artists I saw and/or heard at these are often NOT listed here or elsewhere.)

  • CHRISTIAN comedian(s). Mike Warnke, I think, among others.
  • CHRISTIAN concerts. Lots and lots, especially in the early years through Maranatha Concerts.
  • CHRISTIAN conferences/seminars. Lots. I'd like to go to more. Please, YHWH!
  • CHRISTIAN events. Lots. Various years and performances.
  • Christian Music Seminar (CMS) performances. Various years and performances.
  • Creation Northwest performances. Various performances.
  • Freedomfest / Freedom Fest performances. A couple of performances.
  • Hopefest performances. (Now called Freedomfest / Freedom Fest.) Various performances.
  • Jesus Northwest performances. Various performances.
  • Maranatha Concerts shows Various years and performances; quite a number may NOT be listed here.
  • Music in the Rockies performances. Various years and performances.
  • Seminar in the Rockies performances. Various years and performances.
  • VARIOUS Christian venues. Various years and performances.

A-Z, by artist name or genre
    :

  • Amy Grant.
  • Bethany Dillon.
  • Bob Bennett.
  • CLASSICAL. Some. May also be listed under THEATER, etc.
  • Dan Peek. (Previously from the secular band America.)
  • Dennis Agajanian.
  • Hubert and Myers / Hubert & Myers.
  • Jaci Velasquez. Maybe the loudest Christian concert I ever attended. But the music was decent.
  • Keith Green.
  • KJ52. At Freedomfest / Freedom Fest, 8/17/2008.
  • LOCAL Christian bands and artists. I want to do this more.
  • Michael W. Smith.
  • OPERA. Some. May also be listed under THEATER, etc.
  • Phil Keaggy. (A number of times.)
  • Randy Stonehill. (Multiple times.)
  • Robert Case. (Multiple times.)
  • Second Chapter of Acts. (I THINK! LOL.)
  • The Sherwoods. At Freedomfest / Freedom Fest, 8/17/2008.
  • Steve Taylor. (Twice.)
  • Terry Clark. (Multiple times.)

SECULAR, maybe Secular, or Misc. CONCERTS and OTHER TYPES OF PERFORMANCES
    : SEE ALSO THEATER section.

I've seen several shows at venues that I went to regularly or semi-regularly that are not listed here. For Example, at Jazz Alley and Tula's (another Jazz club).

And there were other shows I went to, or went to part of, that are not listed, as I didn't keep track of this sort of thing.

  • Britney Spears. (Yep! LOL! Really. As a music composer, I was curious as to what a big-name pop star show would be like. And SOME of the music is pretty decent. Nominated for a Grammy, and sold many millions for some reason!)
  • The Boomtown Rats. The one song I knew before I went was "I don't like Mondays".
  • Buddy Guy.
  • CLASSICAL. Some. May also be listed under THEATER, etc.
  • Dave Brubeck and Ramsey Lewis.
  • Dehner Franks playing with the Everett Symphony Orchestra.
  • Elton John. I saw him in Anaheim, CA, at a venue adjacent to the convention center where I was attending a music trade show called NAMM. He was being honored or "awarded" there. Before he came on, several of his songs were done by other performers as a tribute to his musicianship. Some of those names were pretty famous.
  • Jewel. At the Puyallup Fair. I saw part of the concert.
  • The Knack. "My Sharona"! LOL. Hey, for a while, it was my favorite song. (Oops. Should I admit that? LOL.) They signed something for me, but it may be long gone. Sharona, btw, for those who don't know, was a band member's girlfriend's name. LOL. I saw her backstage.
  • Local secular bands. I may want to do this more.
  • Maktub. A local band with lots of interesting music and songs, especially off albums 1 and 2. I've seen more than once.
  • M-PACT. A local a cappella vocal group.
  • OPERA. Some. May also be listed under THEATER, etc.
  • Paul McCartney. My first big concert in years! THAT wasn't cheap! But I had great seats for once. LOL.
  • Rock Boy. A local group.
  • SingTango! Songs and Dances of Argentina. Singing, and some accompanying dancing. At the "Town Hall" venue in Seattle, 11/04/2006, 8:00PM. LOL.
  • Several shows seen as part of college or university music classes.
  • VARIOUS OTHERS. Some just don't come to mind. LOL.

    VENUES
    :

  • Jazz Alley.
  • Tula's. (a Jazz club)

I saw SO MANY shows at these that I am listing the venues and not many of the performers!

Though Jazz clubs are prominently listed, I generally like to listen to the genres of Rock and Pop.

I recently started seeing more Live shows, as this is something I didn't do much of in previous years; some, just not a lot.

I might like to go to performance venues more often. (Hint, hint.)

    THEATER (selected)
    :
And I don't mean movies. Lol.

  • big! The Musical.
  • Billy Elliot. (Saw in London.) Some questionable morals and ethics, if I recall correctly. Not a bad show otherwise though.
  • CLASSICAL. Some. Or should this go under shows? Probably.
  • OPERA. Some. Or should this go under shows? Hmm.
  • Peter Pan. (Or was it Hook? LOL. Hmm.)
  • The Phantom of the Opera.
  • Sayonara.
  • Wicked. The untold story of the Wicked Witch of the West. (Saw in London.) Pretty cool actually. Corny but cool.

    DANCING and SKATING
    :

Other than dancing and skating performances, and theater dance, I myself have danced on stage. I have gone to some local dance and awards shows.

  • Crystal Ball (Local all-day dance competitions and exhibitions.)
  • Other local dance exhibitions.

OTHER SHOWS--selected. Just a few, as they come to mind
    :

  • The circus.
  • The Harlem Globetrotters
  • ~~~
  • My mom performing, in a choir. (A long time ago. C'mon, Mom, sing again! )
  • My brother performing, piano and harmonica.
  • My sister performing, singing.
  • Me performing! VARIOUS: Yes, I have done several things, LOL: Singing and playing solo piano. Singing an original at the Port Townsend Jazz Festival. Singing Bass AND Tenor in various choirs in university and community college choirs. Singing in an evening Jazz choir one quarter. Singing in a well-known local choir several quarters. CC class recitals. University class recitals. Lesson recitals. Grade school recitals. Singing and playing at a Christian College Age group. High school choir (for a short time ). Some DANCING on stage here and there. Even reciting an original poem, in front of hundreds, I guess. LOL. Et cetera! Etc.
  • ~~~
  • Sporting events (RARE! ) (Rare, very rare. WHY? I preferred to play, not watch. I did see the Sonics, Sounders, and maybe some other games, including some university, community college, local, friends & acquaintances games, and "church" games, etc. I played competitively for several years. Now I'd rather see a movie, or DO something, than watch sports.)
  • University of Washington women's volleyball. (I used to play volleyball competitively.)

    A few ending words
    :

I am not listing many shows, especially some of the Christian concerts, and shows at certain venues I frequented for a while.

Some artists many may not have heard of before. And many are from long enough ago that I simply don't recall the names at this time.

    Yadda yadda yadda. LOL.

    Enjoy!

*1* DULL EDIT NOTES, LOL, no, really! LOL:

  • 11/2/2007. Added a couple more. Changed title again. Tried to fix formatting. Enlarged all font sizes by 1. For some reason, several shows didn't show up in previous edit; maybe I forgot to post it! LOL.
