ALCOHOL gives me a headache. Literally. It's too bad really because it's the one "drug" that I know the Bible permits to some. I haven't got a handle on why yet though. I mean, I am not sure if it's the alcohol or some ingredients in it that causes the uncomfortable feeling in the head. Tonight I had a Kahlua and Cream. (Well, probably Half 'n Half, lol.) It's one of my favorites. (Not like I have many.) I think it started giving me a headache though. Not sure. Then, later, at another place, about 30-45 minutes later, I had a glass of Merlot wine. (I don't know the brand.) Definitely started getting more of one then. Within the last couple of weeks, a woman told me that RED wine causes a reaction in her, because, she said, she's allergic to the nitrate or nitrites or whatever. It's weird though that there is pain where it seems to be. They say we don't have some kind of nerves in the brain, or that the brain itself doesn't feel pain (thus the occasional brain surgery while someone is awake ), but it is like the pain of the "drink headache" is inside my skull. (Hey, I just "made that up", "drink headache" that is.) Anyway. It can be just one beer, or even less than that, and I get a headache. But, it's not every time. Or at least it didn't USED to be. So, I dunno. Maybe I'll figure it out one of these days. It's too bad, because, since I turned 21, and received Faith regarding drinking, it's been nice to have a drink, or 2 or 3 (usually with food, if that much, or for an entire evening ). If you don't have experience drinking -- and I don't have a lot -- I suggest that if you feel you should start, then do it in a "safe" environment, and start with only half a drink. And I don't mean half a "drink". But, half a glass of wine, half a schooner (12 oz.) of domestic beer, or half a shot of 80 proof (not 151 ). Some mixed drinks can actually be more like 3 drinks in one! So watch out. And a Pint of stronger beer is more like 1 1/2 beers or more. I once had a book called How Much is Too Much? The Effects of Social Drinking, about drinking alcohol, and it basically said that all the "authorities" the author consulted had concluded that in one sitting, or whatever, 3 drinks was "too much". BUT, for those who have little experience drinking, and don't do it often, ONE drink, LOL, can be too much! Seriously. So, pray about it, and be careful. And if you're going to drink and then do something that requires any kind of body movement (like driving ) anytime soon, leave yourself maybe an hour or more to let it wear off, and clear your bloodstream. And try to limit yourself to 1 drink or less per hour. That's enough to sustain a nice "buzz" without getting drunk, as it were (which is not Scriptural, traditions in the week-long Feasts in Israel excepted, maybe ). No one ever told you HOW to drink, did they? LOL! ADDENDUM -- 10/26/2008: If you are pregnant or nursing, then consult with your doctor and/or nutritionist before drinking alcoholic beverages. Some authorities say not to drink at all when pregnant. © Embarking on a new journey If you want to get to know me, or my Blog. wpx1 © |

Kind of with honest on this one!! Maybe God's trying to tell you something But just out of interest, you get a headache because alcohol lowers blood sugar levels. By how much is really variable. Depends on the size of the person, metabolic rate, speed of absorption etc. Quite a number of factors, which is why the effect is variable from person to person. But, as your brain uses a third of All sugar and starches taken in for it's energy to work, it is the first organ to feel the effects of lowered blood sugar. Hence the headache, dizziness, impaired ability to reason, etc. Try a good mocha instead!!! You'll feel much better without the alcohol and your brain will have all that lovely sugar to keep it alert and buzzing!!! Blessings, Pat.

Well you need to just stop drinking alcohol Steve. Think about this... if the old testament says God forbade the Judges to drink alcohol because it impaired their judgment... then why would a Christian want to ever impair their judgment? especially since the Bible does say the devil goes about like a lion seeking whoever he may devour and so be ye sober. It is talking about being sober minded. How can you be on guard spiritually and at the same time put things in your body that impair your mind? Jn:15:14: Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Try some pure oxygen when you get a headache... Do you know where Melchezadik is??? > pure oxygen LOL. Where can I get that? LOL. > Do you know where...? Gen 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he {was} the priest of the most high God. Psa 110:4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou {art} a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. Hbr 5:6 As he saith also in another {place}, Thou {art} a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Hbr 5:10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Hbr 6:20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, {even} Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Hbr 7:1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; Hbr 7:10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him. Hbr 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law, ) what further need {was there} that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? Hbr 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, Hbr 7:17 For he testifieth, Thou {art} a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Hbr 7:21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou {art} a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec: ) © Embarking on a new journey If you want to get to know me, or my Blog. wpx1 ©

Buy decaf.!!!! ![]() And I very much doubt you'd do yourself any serious harm with a Kit-Kat or Klondyke Bar!!! Too much wittering on about 'sugar rushes' etc. these days. People have gone ridiculously overboard!! But, if you enjoy a glass of wine my friend, and feel it's OK for you, then go ahead and have one. It's your choice. You were the one who asked about alternatives, remember? ![]() Have a Blessed day. Pat.
