MATTHEW

While reading tody, in the 12th chapter of Matthew, Jesus said something profound to some people who did not know HIm very well. Whenever he spoke, he was teaching. Jesus was forever teaching, forever making a point. This point is about guess what? You got it : Relationship!!--
Changed Relationships.

Jesus was doing his thing, casting out devils, performning miracles and dealing with the Pharisees. Some people came to him to tell him that his mother and brothers were looking for him.

46 While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him.
47 Someone said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You."
48 But Jesus answered the one who was telling Him and said, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?"
49 And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers!
50 "For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother."

As I was reflecting on those scriptures, I could somehow imagine what Jesus was teaching the crowd. He was not direspecting his mother or his brothers, he was just making a point about relationships. The Bible tells me that we should actually prefer other christians to our own flesh and blood family. Which means that we as christians are supposed to be just that close with one another. How many of us can actually say that we prefer other christians to our own family? Or even that we feel preferred by other christians rather than their family? How do we get to that point, if we are not there yet? What is the thing that divides us so? What prevents us from doing what Jesus has stated that we should do?

Excellent post as I agree that our spiritual family is far more important than our blood family..not that my nonChristian relatives would ever agree with that

You do ask some big questions don't U.

(((((((((2 Eyes ))))))))))

Think about this in the context of Genesis 2:24 & 25.

The family is a unit of society ordained by God from the very beginning. It is hard to loose our hold on something so inbuilt into our psyche as essential to life.

The breakdown of the family is in fact a symptom of the godlessness of our age.

Yet, for the Christian with non-Christian relatives, their family is all the people of God - those with whom they must spend eternity, like them or not!

If we could not just see this but live it. We all feel that we know how much the Lord loves us. How incredible His love for us is that He even gave His own life because He loved us. Now He say love each other as I have loved you. Do you think we fall short of this?

It is so sad that these words of your will must likely remain words rather than to stir us all to love each other more. To seek each other out to serve and love one another, to take care of to lay our lives down for each other. But words often stay words and we will agree with them but will we live by them.

Why should we do this, what reason is there that could persuade us. It is this ... The Lord said that if we love Him we would love each other as He loved us. Have we ever loved someone the way He desires for us to love all who are His? We ought to consider such things.

ASeekerofLife,

You said a mouthful. When I wrote this post, it is because I know this is not happening. I have a local church where I attend and it is so much "clik-ing" going on. You have make a certain salary, look a certain way or even wear certain clothing before you are accepted by some. It hurts my heart to see it going on, and I know that God is not pleased. I am not sure where we went wrong as followers of Christ, but I pray that we get it right soon.
