I didn't vote for Obama - but whether I like him or not - he is still going to be my next president - plain and simple - and I plan to support him in prayer. The Bible says in 1 Tim 2:1-3 (NLT) "I urge you, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God's mercy upon them, and give thanks. Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior." This verse not only commands us to pray for those who are in authority - but it also says it pleases God when we pray for our leaders. It also says our prayers for our leaders will bring peace and quietness and godliness and dignity. Two excellent reasons to pray for our leaders in my opinion. I desire to please my Lord and I desire peace in this nation. I didn't say these words or make them up- they are God's words through Paul. I personally think it's an important scripture - especially in these days and times. We need to pray for Obama - even if it's hard for us - my experience is that my heart gets softened as I pray for those that I'm not that crazy about. Please join me in these prayers: Heavenly Father - I lift Obama up before You Lord and I ask You to touch him in a mighty way - I ask that Your Holy Spirit saturate him as he takes over the presidency of this United States of America. I ask that Your purposes and Your will be done through him as he leads this great nation Lord. Protect him and his family Lord - provide every need. Bring him wise and Godly counsel in those leaders surrounding him and giving him advice. I ask for Your grace in his life and Your mercy and Your wisdom. In Jesus Name - Amen God still reigns!! I agree! Excellent post! I have been saddened by all the hate and bitterness toward him, and all the doom and gloom being communicated here. I totally agree, we all do need to support him and pray for him (and our other leaders). Because Jesus tells us to. GBY LYS!  in your life means Jesus is in your heart.

Yes I agree in prayer... If he is even our enemy we should pray for him. He is the president, and we should pray He comes to salvation. Dear Heavenly Father, I ask You to watch over Barach Obama. Give him Your protection and guidance. Bring scripture to his mind as he goes through his day - may it be a light to his understanding of civil and world affairs. Surround him with Godly counsel. Help him be humble so that You can lift him up. Protect him and his family not only from physical harm but also from harms to the soul and spirit of pride, self-reliance, the deception of worldly solutions and denial of Your sovereignty. May he find comfort in your Name and in Your blood. May he seek Your face and may Your light shine on him. May he be a blessed water course in Your hand to do Your will. In Jesus mighty name we pray! Thank you, Dad!

Amen Marilynn...indeed its great to support our leaders in prayer always...this is indeed an exciting and also 'scary' time? in the American history of a first black President...may he indeed be God's spokesman and vessel and 'rule' with godly wisdom...may his heart search for a solid foundation in Christ Jesus together with his family...amen and amen to your prayer and others too... Man can make many plans...BUT it is the Lord who will direct his paths....
