Reading some of the blogs here lately, it's so disturbing to know that so many people here, only accept part of the Bible and not the Bible as a whole being inspired by God. HOW IS THAT SO??? How can one accept the teachings of the New Testament, and deny the Old Testament? That's very troubling!!! How can one just accept Jesus teachings' and deny Paul's epistles???
WHAT WE BELIEVE MATTERS...AND ALL BELIEF SYSTEM SHOULD BE BASED ON THE WORD OF GOD! But what happens if we only choose to believe certain teachings in the Bible and reject the others? Where does such belief system lies then? Where else could we find such foundation for our beliefs???
According to the survey they did years ago, 60% of Americans said their religious beliefs are very meaningful to them and make a difference in how they live. With the remaining 40% of the country guided only by what seems right in their own eyes, is it any wonder we allow the death of millions of babies, tolerate the devaluation of marriage, accepting the alternative lifestyle as a norm, turning our blind eye to violence in the home, community, school and just about all around us.
Our belief system governs our lifestyle and choices ~ it is the foundation from which we form our opinions and make decisions. For Christians, it is absolutely essential to KNOW WHAT WE BELIEVE AND WHY. Many people inherit their convictions from their parents and simply absorb those ideas without really investigating them. For instance, we hear, "My dad supported the union so I support the union," "My mother was Republican or Democrat so I am Republican or Democrat," and so on.
But to be certain our system of thinking is accurate, we must BASE IT ON THE WORD OF GOD, AND NOT ON HABIT, CULTURE, OR EVEN FAMILY HERITAGE. A belief system is like a mental grid through which all outside information must pass. IF OUR MENTAL GRID HAS BEEN BUILT ON THE TRUTH OF THE BIBLE, THEN WE CAN DETECT FALSE DOCTRINE AND PHILOSOPHY.
Unfortunately, FALSE DOCTRINE IS USUALLY MIXED UP WITH JUST ENOUGH TRUTH TO MAKE IT SOUND GOOD. Many Christians who are not GROUNDED IN THEIR FAITH ARE EASILY LED ASTRAY BY IDEAS THAT ARE GENUINELY TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. THEY EAGERLY SUPPORT AN AGENDA THAT IS INCONSISTENT WITH GOD'S WORD BECAUSE IT OFFERS LICENSE TO LIVE ACCORDING TO ONE'S OWN DESIRES. (2 Timothy 4:3)
Another reason CHRISTIANS SHOULD KNOW THEIR CONVICTIONS IS SO THAT THEY CAN PRESENT THOSE BELIEFS CONVINCINGLY TO OTHERS. While it is the work of the Holy Spirit to bring the lost to Christ, God chooses to use our VOICE and MIND to INSTRUCT UNBELIEVERS IN THE WAY OF TRUTH. Our world is full of people who are desperate, lonely , and hurting. They yearn for the amazing hope that we have. But they desire hope sourced in truth, not on someone else's opinion.
There is no question that our society is permeated with godless ideas and philosophies that can ultimately destroy us. BUT IF OUR BELIEF SYSTEM IS BASED UPON THE SCRIPTURES, WE WILL RECOGNIZE DECEITFUL TEACHING WHEN WE HEAR IT AND CAN ADDRESS REAL NEEDS WITH REAL ANSWERS.
WHERE DOES YOUR BELIEF SYSTEM LIES? WHAT'S THE BASE OF YOUR CONVICTIONS AND BELIEF SYSTEM?
MATTHEW 24:11-12 ~ AND MANY FALSE PROPHETS WILL APPEAR AND DECEIVE MANY PEOPLE, BECAUSE OF THE INCREASE OF WICKEDNESS, THE LOVE OF MOST WILL GROW COLD.
KNOW WHAT YOU BELIEVE AND WHY YOU BELIEVE IT!!!
"Create in me a pure heart, O God!" (Psalm 51:10)
Teach me your way, O LORD,and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify Your name forever. (Psalm 86:11,12)

Amen, Glo! An excellent post and very timely in view of some of the points that are regularly made on these blogs.
Here is a link to a post I did yesterday which addresses the suggestion that Jesus and Paul teach differently on some things: Law and Grace; Jesus & Paul

Yes excellent post, my Dear. You have nailed it. These people here on BC calling the Apostle Paul a wolf in sheep's clothing do not have a proper understanding of the Gospel. The reality is, the very people on here that say Paul was a phony are themselves wolves in sheep's clothing, or else they are truly naive as to what the true Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about.
Yes Peter, your article, "Law and Grace; Jesus & Paul" was excellent and I your replies to the responces you received were equally excellent. Your article is worth checking out. Law and Grace; Jesus & Paul

The deception has begun in earnest?
How many will find themselves in the hands of an Angry God?
How many will be shocked?
It is a shame they have the Whole Absolute Truth and NOTHING BUT the Whole Absolute Truth in front of them, but apparently not within them?
Who has bewitched them?
Prayer is their only hope.
.
. Without Absolute Truth, there are only lies disguised as truth, if you know not the Absolute Truth and it is NOT within you, you will embrace a relative truth that fits your eternity, that is presently before you.
Continue to be faithful, deliverance is near, obedience must be seen, be an unconditional blessing as He continues to bless you.
This time is short, serve Him well, serving all.
Without exception.
Know?
Yes?

Well, I haven't been reading those blogs but I'm with you here 100%. The Bible must be taken as a whole and not in bits and pieces!
I remember that someone in my area was visited by a Moslem sheikh to try and lure him to Islam. The sheikh told this man that Jesus said in the Bible that "There will be one who comes after me who is greater than me." The man was not well read in the Bible and thought that was true, so he went to ask our priest. So, the priest showed him that the verse was said by John the Baptist in relation to Jesus. You see how such a simple verse can cause chaos 'cos people don't read?
In this man's case, he did the right thing - he asked someone more learned than him and who was trusted in the Word. How can people here trust the word of those in the blogs when they have not tested their spirits over time? It boggles my mind!
God bless, G
