When Flying Behave or Pay Plenty

It's no nonsense flying now. Frustrated passengers get little mercy from Airlines today. Just because there are delays, and missed baggage, that's too bad. Get mouthy, unruly and the fines are astronomical. A flight may be diverted to another city, and the cost in the tens of thousands of dollars is paid by the unruly passenger. Jail time is not in days, but in months and years.

Since September 11, 2001 the tension has grown, and meals, snacks, and seating space, is less. Even fresh oxygen is less and this may contribute to more anger. The job of the stewardess is not service to the passengers, but to be the eyes, ears, and nose to the flight crew in the cockpit. Service to passengers by the stewardess is an added bonus. Most of us don't know this.

Christians should have no problem with respect and decorum unless they are on edge and part of the fringe. How sad if some of these uptight, rebellious passengers are also Christian. I miss the old days when flying was less turbulent, and fun. The view is still great, but I wish the magical days of flying would come back. We used to really get meals. Now the pretzels, peanuts, and coke snacks are the standard fare. Why is life not fun anymore? I hope in my lifetime some of it comes back. I would like to enjoy more on a flight than the view. Tension and stress go away.

They are referred to as "Stewards" rather than Stewardess'. There are a lot of male stewards now. One one flight, I tried to tip my steward and she refused to accept my money. I hope I didn't insult her, but I was keeping her busy!

Walking, and praising and trusting my Lord for the rest of my life

Oh how times change. I like stewardess still. If a guy wants to do the job, why can't he be called a steward, and leave the women with the elegant title they wore so well so long?

interesting. every passenger was allotted 2 free alcoholic drinks. i kind of thought that contributed to the mellowness of the flight. that was just about enough to make everyone just legally high. flying high - flying high. then, lights out for a good many of the passengers. but, with the new regulations, outside of first class, everyone must pay for every alcoholic beverage. most aren't willing to shell out the extra bucks, mainly due to their memory of the free beverages from years gone by. well, i'm certain there's more valuable info to share but i'm falling asleep and about to tumble off my chair, so it'll have to come from some sharp mind and not mine! God bless you! love and hugs, shar

Well, I don't care what it costs, when I fly I want a glass of wine with some ice. I don't remember when it was free. I always paid. A little wine helped the flight for me. And besides, it was a touch of class.

Yes always an adventure. Still its a beautiful sight. Imagine some people never pay attention to the view out the window. I guess it becomes routine but for me its always an spritual experience.

Do you remember your first flight? What a rush. Second flight is still fun, but been there, done that. Third flight becomes standard procedure. After that you either fall to indifference or your mind ventures into the reality that you're not getting there soon enough even though you're flying and the vehicle would have been infinitely more time consuming.

Are you sure your first and second flight offered more than peanuts? I didn't like the idea of eating on the plane unless I was going to be in the air for some time. Peanuts would have suited me, but I do recall an airline that still offer meals in Canada.

I remember Abraham Lincoln. Ha ha, actually I do remember flying when they served meals, but that was eons of time ago. But for me it took more than the 3rd flight to feel it was routine, more like the 30th flight. I wish some good things would not go away. Flying is one of those experiences for me.
