LOL... A friend emailed me wondering where I have been lately and I told her that I have been spending more time in the 'real' world.. lol She got a kick out that..
Yep!.. Thats what I have been doing... We are having a beautiful summer this year in Michigan.. we've had a lot of rain, but rain helps keep everything green and pretty..
Hey I've even been on a few dates lately too (nothing serious or anyone here on BC) but it has been nice to get out and just live life... my oldest son graduated this year and we're having his graduation party next week..
There is always some kind of project around the house to get done... lol and I try to put them off has much as I can.. lol but I did put in a vegetable garden this year... so soon I'll be getting some fresh tomato's.. cucumber's.. peppers.. and some sweet corn.. lol I love fresh veggies from the garden... I love making bread and butter pickles with the cucumbers, and fresh salsa with the tomato's and peppers.. Hmmm Hmmm good... lol
My youngest son stays with his mom most of the summer.. so that means that the house stays a lot cleaner.. lol and my evenings are free to do NOTHING if I want.. lol or hang with friends or do a little dating...
Life is good.. God is good..
..so if I don't get to commenting back to ya guys too soon.. I'm probable out in the yard... or just relaxing drinking some ice cold sweet tea... lol
Life is too short so Lighten Up a bit...

LOL......I have said that to you before. "Is this a date with someone from BC or the "real" world."
HA!!
I'll take some of that sweet tea, sweet man!! But I like my pickles crunchy, sour and salty. No bread and butter pickles for me.
My sister and I tried a huge garden a few years ago - fagetaboutit!! Her yard as it turned out was too darn buggy and by the time we got the 'Skeetereater thingy machine going the weeds had overcome all our efforts. We did get about a softball size baby watermelon that we cut open and ate - LOL. Oh and in the beginning we got to eat some of the lettuce and then our city brown thumb took over.
I tried planting strawberries and stringbeans when I first moved into my home 10 years ago. Turns out that the bunnies and other animals thought we were very generous new neighbors and ate them all!!
Someday, I'd like very much to try again.

I'd share a glass of sweet tea with you any day pretty lady.. thats funny what you said about your garden experience with your sister.. lol my garden is very small.. a real gardener would probable laugh at it.. lol but too big of one is too much work.. lol so try a smaller one. you just might enjoy it more.. lol |

Hey where's my invite? I love fresh veggies and I love bread and butter pickles more. I remember when I was a little girl, my grandpa always had a garden and I would often be found right smack dab in the middle of the cherry tomatoes eating them by the handfuls. And my mother used to hide the lettuce so I wouldn't eat it all. And sweet onions (1015s and Valdalias) I can eat like candy. Hey have you ever eaten cucumbers soaked in Ranch Dressing. Hmmmmmmm delicious! I particularly like the Ranch with bacon. Now I'm starving! See ya' ((hugs)) Give your son my congratulations. Now he can enter the 'real' world lol.
Lord, keep one hand on my shoulder and one hand over my mouth!
yendor2 replies on 7/17/2008 9:47 am: ...Hey there's always an open invitation for you Sis.. lol sometimes I'll plant cherry tomatoes, but they usually never make it into the house.. lol I eat them right from the vine as soon as they ripen.. lol I've never had cucumber in ranch dressing.. I bet its good though... but I have soaked them in vinegar and ate them before... I know it sounds gross... lol but it really is pretty good.. lol |

Ohh my kinda guy. My veggie garden was such a pleasure this year. Try planting some marigolds and garlic to keep the bugs away. If you plant parsley next to tomatoes, they yield a better crop.
Its fun, lol and you get to feed your face. Enjoy.

yendor2 replies on 7/17/2008 10:15 am: I planted marigolds one year, I was told they would keep the rabbits away.. lol the rabbits ate them.. lol I guess it work the rabbits left my garden alone.. lol never tried that other stuff... I'll have to remember to try them next year.. |

Good for you, being out in the 'real' world lol. A friend of mine gave me some tomato plants last year....I forgot they were not the self watering kind hehe.
I used to have a lovely veggie garden, I loved the onions I grew, I would string them up and hang them in the garage, I loved gardening.....now I have a large garden and its mainly lawn and I just can't be bothered with it, it's too much for me...sigh.
Well, you enjoy the rest of your summer, out there picking lovely fresh veggies for dinner, yum yum!
yendor2 replies on 7/17/2008 10:20 am: "the self watering kind".. that funny... lol I never heard of stinging up onions... peppers yes, but never onions.. I can't grow things like onions, carrots, radishes, and potatoes.. I have too much clay in my soil... but I do like all those veggies though!.. |

Yendor- from a post you left- my reply by copy and paste- "My turn to apologize profusely yendor... I was addressing someone else on another browser and I DID NOT read your nickname or even look at your photo as I typed into this window. I am to the max- sorry for this faux pax and do indeed ask for you to forgive me delivering this as a reply to you. I will make certain this does not happen to you again. You are 100% correct- I did not check my window as I was supposed to do and deserve a stone- since this time I bow my head to recieve it and not let it bounce back. I mean it in all sincerity- I am sorry this happened and thank you for pointing to my error. gordy

I have gotten 4 yellow squash so far this summer from my plants. Yummy! I boil them and then put cheese sauce on them. I also have tomatoe plants but the tomatoes are still green right now. Can hardley wait for them! Glad you are enjoying your summer and your healthy eating.

Oh no that doesn't sound gross at all (vinegar and cucumbers). I was introduced to that before the ranch dressing. Yeppers I like them that way too.
Hey PJ, here's a superlicious way to eat squash. Boil them, drain them, add grated cheese and onion rings (in the can) and bake until the cheese is melted. I add the cheese and onion rings in layers. This makes a scrumptious casserole. In fact we just had it a few nights ago, I ate until I was almost sick. It is that good!

Homemade dill pickles - that's what my parents always made - together in the kitchen! Dad grew them and picked them, then he'd pack the garlic, dill weed and a red pepper in the jar. Mom would make the brine, and pour it over them and we'd all wait anxiously for Thanksgiving Day, which is when the first bottle would be opened.
Good for you for getting out in the real world! I've been spending a lot of time there as well and it's a great place to be

I am so proud of you. You have way too much to offer to just exist in blogland, and there are decent people out in the real world. I know we don't like to share you, but you can't hide your light under a bushel. (you could't, it shines too brightly, but I know you know what I mean)
we here at Blogland know how special you are. Hope these women you have graced with your presence know so as well.
Enjoy. Please keep in touch and share some of those adventures.

Your garden sounds great! All I got in this year were some herbs and one tomato plant. I'm imagining you cooking and canning in that kitchen of yours...and wondering if you've gotten around to redecorating it with the chef decor???

Hi Yendor2, Ok you brought me back to my childhood talking about your garden, here are a couple of my memories: Sitting in the garden next to the tomatoe plants with my friend Tina, pepper shaker in my hand, in her hand salt shaker and the two of us eating those fresh wonderful tasting tomatoes on a hot summer day! I can never forget my favorite summer sandwich, slice of bread, miricle whip, tomatoe slices and yes black pepper! Thanks for the memories,,,enjoy those tomatoes when their ripe!
yendor2 replies on 7/21/2008 4:49 am: LOL your welcome... I slice my tomato's and eat them with salt and pepper also.. lol |
