In the States it's just a few short weeks (if that long) until Thanksgiving Day. Many folks set aside this day to be thankful. This morning I read a post that was a praise of thankfulness after a week of an arrest, a car breakdown and a daughter in hospital (out now! Whew! ).
That is overcoming faith! Personally, I start my prayers with thanks to God for all the things HE is doing. Corrie Ten Boom got through the days of prison camp torture praising God! I believe thankfulness is very underrated in this world and even amongst believers.
It is certainly something we can teach our children from an early age. By way of example-prayers of thankfulness everyday, at every meal, at each opportunity. Also, by pointing out when things go wrong-how really it could be a blessing of thankfulness.
I remember about a year ago, my brakes got so hot they really were awful with that smell of burnt brake and they were hitting the floor. I was thankful that I was going slow on a flat residential street. I was also thankful to have AAA so got a tow to the shop. The next day the auto diagnosis was in and I was thankful that they could find nothing wrong with the brakes. There has not been a problem since! I was thankful that God had protected me from some unseen danger and did a bad brake miracle. Only a believer knows this kind of crazy talk to be a blessing and can relate and smile and has had similar things happen.
Much of the problems with young people today have a lot to do with not being thankful. Young adults especially expect cell phones, all the latest expensive gear, electronics, etc.
I have not raised my children this way. No cell phones. Sheesh, I just got mine about eight or nine years ago. They may get a video game if it is appropriate about five years after it has come out and everyone else has already had it.
I must say, my daughter is very thankful and I am thankful for that. I bought her a new coat last week and she said to me: "Thank you so much for my new coat!"
It was very heartfelt and I told her of course! It is a joy to treat that kid, and she does not whine about what she does not have. We are so blessed with her!
Anyway, Bless you Saints of God, and have a beautiful thanksgiving season.
“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:20

Hi Pat, Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate that. You know, though, I can't take too much credit because God brought her to me when she was nine and it was Him who found her, brought her, and has kept us. I am missing your posts and so glad you stopped by to comment. I pray all is well with you, sis. Love to you, Rhonda

I am thankful the granddaughter still demands on a ride to church whenever I can do so, it is 90 miles round trip, and only Wednesday nights for youth group.
When she is at her dad's once in a while, it is only about 50 miles.
She seems grateful with me, but expects more from everyone else for some reason?
Some "right" is better than all wrong?
12 of the 12 th of November.
Hard to teach a grand child, but easier than a teen step child you started with in their mid to late in their teens and already going away from God, less ever really knew God.
Prayer is all that there is left for them at this point in time.
Raychel I have had since birth, maybe that is why she seems a bit easier?
You are blessed.

Saying I am sorry is WORTHLESS without real repentance.
True or FALSE ?
Without a personal and intimate relationship with God, how can you ever realize the true identity and person of God?
Continue to be faithful, deliverance is near, obedience must be seen, be an unconditional blessing as He continues to bless you.
This time is short, serve Him well, serving all.
Without exception.

It amazes me - the poorest here in the U.S. live better than people living in third world countries. I am spoiled rotten and I know it. But I still thank Him everyday for how He exceeds my expectations, giving me more than I deserve and certainly more than I need. Seems like bad stuff always happens in three's. We must Praise Him for all blessings, even though they may appear to be merely coincidences.
If you don't know me you haven't missed much - but if you don't know Jesus you've missed everything!!

Pete, Yes, there is a lot to be thankful for with your Raychel. You are obviously a very critical part of her life and a wonderful Godly example. Thank God for you, Pete. Love and hugs my brother. Rhonda
