IS IT WRONG TO PRAY FOR PROSPERITY???

There are the prosperity preachers.
The Bible promises an abundant life through Christ Jesus.
And naturally, money is a powerful force for producing good in this world.

However, what are YOUR feelings about talking to God about your financial needs? In other words, how do YOU feel about asking God for a money miracle?
Pray without ceasing
Whatsover ye ask for in My name...
Blasphemy! Do you dare mock the Lord God
For God nothing is impossible
My comments (thoughts) on this matter are posted below

I picked one,two and four as the bible tells us all those things based on a promise that God will supply all our need..but He won't be manipulated by our greed

I agree with Caroline! I think it all boils down to how much He can trust us with before it ruins us. It's not how much we have (materially speaking) that's the problem, it's how much of "it" has us!

I also think it's terribly wrong for us to judge others based on what they have or do not have because the bottom line is, you really don't know what that person is doing (or not doing) with their money. It's all about personal obedience.

Personally, I LOVE to see Christians driving the best automobiles, living in nice houses (that are paid for, hopefully), wearing nice clothes, and living well. I rejoice when I see my brothers and sisters in Christ living in abundance.

Unfortunately, I don't see it very much. I think it's so sad to see Christians driving dilapidated, barely operating cars, living in houses that are barely standing, and struggling to meet the needs of their family.

Prosperity is relative. That's where the problem comes in, in my most humble opinion. Clearly, as Caroline stated, God is not into greed. But neither is He "into" leaving His "kids" in barely-get-along street, either.

I happen to be one who believes in the so-called prosperity message. Because, like Joyce Meyer says when asked the same thing, "Well, what do you want me to stand for? Hoping people remain poor?"

Balance...it's all about balance. I want to be blessed, so I can be a blessing.

I've been abased, and I have abounded. Personally, I like abounding a lot more!

It depends upon why you are praying prosperity.

When finances become an issue that rob us of the focus we need to have on God (whether the abundance of, or lack of we have a problem) There is proper place for finances in ones life. God will supply our needs personally and for those in need through us when it is His will to do so. We need to know that He loves us and He does not want 2nd place to anything.

I suppose it would depend on the motive for wanting this money. I am very uncomfortable with praying for money. I'm not sure I even know why. I do know that I find it easier to pray for the needs of others then I do to pray for my needs. There is no record in scripture os us needing to pray for such but that argument can hold to a lot of other things. I think in this instance and most others, such a prayer should be embarked upon only once we have exhausted all other options. Namely, can we work for the additional income. Are there family members who can help. Is your church available to help? God made us thinking beings and I am certain he expects us to think our way through things. paul supported himself in his ministry by working and when needed, requesting help from the body of Christ. God is a God of action and I would hope that we are followers who act also.

lastly, Jesus prayed that he would not have to die or at least die in the manner he knew he would. Seemingly that prayer was not answered.

I have no doubt that we sometimes use prayer as an excuse not to act responsibly.

Life is too short not to be nice.

OF COARSE NOT! Can one really suppord a family on a part time minimum wage job? Do most women over all go for a man without goals, dreams,NOT being GAINFULLY employed and still living at home with his Parents at age 30 ?

Look at the riches that Jesus has in heaven that he is waiting to give his bride once we get their!

This should be a no-brainer!

Since feb 18th, 2006, I have been "Water~Walkin' & Grand Canyon Leaping". I have had no income. The past months, I have had an eviction notice, every month and the Lord brings it to the wire, but HIS Favour shines down on me. I tithe and give offerings. Each time the LORD gives me unction as to what, where, or how I need to move to find the "coin in the fishes mouth".

I know that HE is teaching me "Great Faith" as HE did Elijah at the Brook Kerith. HE chose the place I live, I had my money down at a place across town. HE, also, gave me specific words regarding this place. I claim those Words as His Promise to me.

♫GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS!!♫

I choose #1 pray with ceasing. The bible says ask and it shall be given unto you, It also say faith with out work is dead and work without faith is dead. But with CHRIST all things are possible, above all else the bible says seek ye first the kingdom of God and all things will be added unto you. GBU
