The words below are wisdom from the devotional My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. I think these are wise words, indeed! "Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free..." (Galatians 5:11) A spiritually-minded person will never come to you with the demand - "Believe this and that"; a spiritually-minded person will demand that you align your life with the standards of Jesus. We are not asked to believe the Bible, but to believe the One whom the Bible reveals (see John 5:39-40). We are called to present liberty for the conscience of others, not to bring them liberty for their thoughts and opinions. And if we ourselves are free with the liberty of Christ, others will be brought into that same liberty -the liberty that comes fromm realizing the absolute control and authority of Jesus Christ. Always measure your life solely by the standards of Jesus. Submit yourself to His yoke, and His alone; and always be careful never to place a yoke on other that is not of Jesus Christ. It takes God a long time to get us to stop thinking that unless everyone sees things exactly as we do, them must be wrong. That is never God's view. There is only one true liberty - the liberty of Jesus at work in our conscience enabling us to do with is right. Don't get impatient with others. Remember how God dealt with you - with patience and gentleness. But never water down the truth of God. Let it have its way and never apologize for it. Jesus said, "Go...and make disciples..." (Matthew 28:19), not, "Make converts to your own thoughts and opinions." |

Amen, but let us also not forget 1 Peter 2:16 - "As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God."

God ain't finished with me yet." That's me! By the way, what time is his expected arrival today? I bet those pins and needles you're sitting on are getting sharper by the moment. Elizabeth

This is in reference to So what is a not-boyfriend???. Sister Jean, I have read so much of your stuff, and you have been such an inspiration to me, in my own walk with the Lord. Now, I am slowly working my way through your fiancee's material (he is as thought-provoking as you, I can assure you! ). In the above referenced post, I noticed that you agreed with one of the other blogger's opinion, which I subsequently rebutted. I am not asking you to reverse yourself, but I would sincerely ask you to consider my point of view on that situation, for I feel it brings into play the very nature of Christ, that He would have us build one another up, not jerk the rug out from one another, as Israel's post seemed to do. As I said, you are certainly free to believe as you wish, I was just hoping that the words that I placed on the post might cause you to look deeper into the matter, yourself. I find that lately I have been looking at things less superficially, and more with the eyes of He who Died for me... Love and Best Wishes to you and your Groom, -Danny Milligan

However, in regards to the verse you quoted, AMEN! I try never to do anything that I am free to do in front of someone else, if it would hurt them in any way spiritually. That would not be loving them or God, so I would be violating the only two laws in the New Testament! Be blessed!

Amen for those liberating words. Yes, all in Jesus' Mighty ways. " We are fearfully and wonderfully made." Psalm 139:14a

I think you got my point with the second comment, though I have had people use "grace" to justify sinning against Biblical commandments.

Jesus said, "Go...and make disciples..." (Matthew 28:19), Amen, too! People are like a rosebud. Only God can open it without destroying it. If we try to pull back the petals to make it bloom on OUR time, we will only pull it apart.
