WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET OVER IT ?

The following article was written by a school teacher....NOT ME. So, is he right ?

Andrew M. Manis: When Are WE Going to Get Over It?

For much of the last forty years, ever since America "fixed" its race problem in the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, we white people have been impatient with African Americans who continued to blame race for their difficulties. Often we have heard whites ask, "When are African Americans finally going to get over it? Now I want to ask: "When are we White Americans going to get over our ridiculous obsession with skin color?

Recent reports that "Election Spurs Hundreds' of Race Threats, Crimes" should frighten and infuriate every one of us. Having grown up in "Bombingham," Alabama in the 1960s, I remember overhearing an avalanche of comments about what many white classmates and their parents wanted to do to John and Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King. Eventually, as you may recall, in all three cases, someone decided to do more than "talk the talk."
Since our recent presidential election, to our eternal shame we are once again hearing the same reprehensible talk I remember from my boyhood.

We white people have controlled political life in the disunited colonies and United States for some 400 years on this continent. Conservative whites have been in power 28 of the last 40 years. Even during the eight Clinton years, conservatives in Congress blocked most of his agenda and pulled him to the right. Yet never in that period did I read any headlines suggesting that anyone was calling for the assassinations of presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, or either of the Bushes. Criticize them, yes. Call for their impeachment, perhaps. But there were no bounties on their heads. And even when someone did try to kill Ronald Reagan, the perpetrator was non-political mental case who wanted merely to impress Jody Foster.

But elect a liberal who happens to be Black and we're back in the sixties again. At this point in our history, we should be proud that we've proven what conservatives are always saying -- that in America anything is possible, EVEN electing a black man as president. But instead we now hear that school children from Maine to California are talking about wanting to "assassinate Obama."
Fighting the urge to throw up, I can only ask, "How long?" How long before we white people realize we can't make our nation, much less the whole world, look like us? How long until we white people can - once and for all - get over this hell-conceived preoccupation with skin color? How long until we white people get over the demonic conviction that white skin makes us superior? How long before we white people get over our bitter resentments about being demoted to the status of equality with non-whites?

How long before we get over our expectations that we should be at the head of the line merely because of our white skin? How long until we white people end our silence and call out our peers when they share the latest racist jokes in the privacy of our white-only conversations?
I believe in free speech, but how long until we white people start making racist loudmouths as socially uncomfortable as we do flag burners? How long until we white people will stop insisting that blacks exercise personal responsibility, build strong families, educate themselves enough to edit the Harvard Law Review, and work hard enough to become President of the United States, only to threaten to assassinate them when they do?

How long before we starting "living out the true meaning" of our creeds, both civil and religious, that all men and women are created equal and that "red and yellow, black and white" all are precious in God's sight?
Until this past November 4, I didn't believe this country would ever elect an African American to the presidency. I still don't believe I'll live long enough to see us white people get over our racism problem. But here's my three-point plan: First, everyday that Barack Obama lives in the White House that Black Slaves Built, I'm going to pray that God (and the Secret Service) will protect him and his family from us white people.

Second, I'm going to report to the FBI any white person I overhear saying, in seriousness or in jest, anything of a threatening nature about President Obama. Third, I'm going to pray to live long enough to see America surprise the world once again, when white people can "in spirit and in truth" sing of our damnable color prejudice, "We HAVE overcome."

I still have siblings that won't let me be more important than them in anything. How I wish learned behavior could be unlearned. We also have that attitude in the Christian community. I'm not entirely sure it's prejudice. Pride rears up in many different ways.

Steve--I dont know who this guy is But i have never in the conservative realm heard anyone say anything about Assasinating Obama--what if he sadly did get assasinated by a BLACK MAN--you assume Stve only the conservative White folks are the crazies out here--because we arent!!! I pray daily for the lord to protect our President--his wife and children--NOT because he is Black--but because he is the President and the Lord tells us in his word--topray for him!! Iknow sadly Glenn Beck has said things latley that are absurd--I really dont follow the guy--or watch his program!! Yes there are mentally disturbed people out there of all races--not just white!! As I have said before--I am not an Obama Supporter--but I certainly wish him no harm!!

Maybe some people are wanting to get rid of Obama simply because they think he is going to ruin the country, and not because hes black? To assume its because he is black is prejudice in itself.

The TRUTH is that it doesnt MATTER who the President of the United States is. BOTH POLITICAL PARTIES are working to implement the NEW WORLD ORDER, they are ALL Freemasons.

This Andrew M. Manis: is very correct, I'm sad to say. Many of us Americans with northern Europian heritage have and continue to mistreat our brothers and sisters with darker color skin.
I still remember vividly in my childhood, (and repent again whenever I think about it) of when Dr. Martin Luthor King Jr. was shot, how my friend Doug announced at school that the king of the 'N word' has just been killed, and all us kids cheered, not understanding what Dr. King really stood for. We ignorantly retained our parent's ignorance and lack of tolerance when it came to racial relations. We,in turn passed on that same prejudice to our children, even as we say we have overcome racial prejudice, and pat ourselves on the back for becoming better at hiding our own hiprocisies.

If we have so overcome the issue, then why do we still have white churches and black churches? Why are we not mixing more? and putting out greater efforts to embrace and understand our brethern of other skin colors?
I do believe we have made some improvement as a people, but we still have a long ways to go.

In my community, our city wide church prayer group, known as 'Serve the City' has nearly 50 local churches affiliated.
Our Midwest Prayer Center is now approaching having 70 churches involved. Both are very good things indeed. Yet our city wide intra-church racial reconcilliation ministry known as 'First Light' has only 19 or 20 churches involved.
We are not there yet, and anyone who says we are is a liar.

If then ye be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affections on things above, and not on things on the earth.

Since I am a man, and I think myself to be a prophet; (1Cor.13:37) I acknowledge-epignosis that the above texts are a commandment of the Lord.

Conclusion: If skin color is affecting your heart, your affections are not set right.

I am a prophet of the Lord God Almighty the Father of Jesus Christ.

ok,i personally think it is just plain crazy talk to say that obama is going to ruin this country.

(that is what bush was doing, personally i think bush was one of the worst presidents in US history)

i also believe obama is basically a good person who is also very intelligent,as a nation we need some one with those qualities,so far he is doing a pretty good job, unfortunately he has been distracted
with these health care issues,i dont think you should try to fix health care until you fix the economy,i mean why charge us more money when our pockets are empty.to me it is just a matter of simple math,(if we have more money, then we can buy more honey)

but as far as race goes,i have seen that problem; at the work place, with some of my neighbors,at the grocery store, you name it ,it is every where.

some people are simply unfixable, they refuse to accept other races.

it is sad,but it is true.

race is truely just a manifestation of hatred,if a person openly shows racism,i can guarranty they even show it to their own family members.they are probably mean to their own wifes, mother, father
etc,etc,etc.

hatred, and lack of love show itself in many forms.

so when you see a racist person,be assured, people of their own race also know that person is a problem, they will even show their hatred to other people regardless of race, color, social status, anual income, abilities or lack there of.

hatred is hatred, regardless of how it is being manifested!

The white people that I know do not have a problem with Obama on a personal level, and it is far from a racial issue. It is about what he is doing and trying to do that makes their blood run cold. They would dislike his practices and his methods just as much, even if he were white.

I could care less about what color he is. Color is a non-issue with me. I don't respect the man and his agenda, though. I believe this country will be much worse after he leaves office than it was when he entered it. Even so, I pray for his safety and health. I pray for his soul.

I don't want to see him dead and I don't personally know any other white person who does.

I believe he is the man who is supposed to be in office at this time, for better or worse. That doesn't mean I need to agree with his agendo or methods of promoting his agenda. It does mean that I need to show him repect as my president, and I will do that.

I think there are still way more people who have the race issue with Prsident Obama then want to admit it. However, they hide behind other hot topic issues such as health care, and abortion.
Health care, he is trying to fix. Abortion will never get fixed. Much to the dismay of the strong abortion opponants we have here, the plain truth is that even if you got a 95% super-majority in both House and Senate, an abortion opposing President, and all nine Supreme Court Justices that opposed abortion, it will still never again become a law.

Why? Because the real truth is that the Republicans want abortion outlawed even less then the Democrats do. They know beyond any reasonable certainity that as soon as abortion becomes illegal again, that all their support, pac money, and votes will dry up as Christians return to their complaciency, and can't be bothered with political issues.
Therefore, the Republicans will always string us along with excuses upon excuses, and always blaming someone else in order to keep that support in their favor.

We Christians are just nieve enough to believe that bullcrap too, because we want that abortion law so bad, that we will embrace anything that looks like a possibility, even if it's an outright lie.

As for me, I'd rather have in power those who disagree with me, yet will do what they say they will do, then those who will agree with me to my face, then make sure it doesn't happen, and blame it on someone else.

Dr. Dobson should know first hand; after all of the support he rallied ( from Christians ) to get Bush elected, only to have Bush turn his back on the promises he made. Then what did Dobson do the next time Bush ran ? Rallied the troops again......only to get screwed again. I guess some will never learn.
