Very important...I know nothing but Christ and Him crucified....of course Paul was making a point there, he knew alot more. But that is the most important thing Jesus did for us. He went to the cross to bear our sins. We'd have no salvation if He hadn't.

Ga:6:14: But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Ph'p:2:8: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Col:1:20: And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Col:2:14: Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

And for the answer to your question :

How important is the cross of Christ to the christian faith?

Why it is the very power of God unto salvation to EVERY ONE that believes.

Ro:1:16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

2Co:4:3 KJV: But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

And to answer your second question with a question :

" The CROSS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH SALVATION AT ALL. The WORKS and the OBEDIENCE was what Jesus was sent to teach- and He did His job. "

Now do I have to tell you who said that ?

Who would be the only one so proud and arrogant in his heresy to be stupid enough to say that ?

Here, let me give you a hint :

History reveals and gives us a loooong list of heretical movements, each with its "-ism" name. All have always been fought back and confuted.

For instance notice how Docetism has slowly infiltrated into the Gospels again...

Unfortunately not everyone knows how dangerous these are for the True Sound Doctrine and how they in the long run can enfeeble and impair it.

That's why I have always advocated to discernment between central and peripheral differences, and why in light of this I don't take offense of ecumenical dialogue.

Let's therefore primarily strive to defend and to maintain the Pillars and the Cornerstone in one piece; small bricks don't need to become huge blocks...

Have a great day...

_____________
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one.

For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

these are two differnt scriptures I just choose to write them in this manner

Choose life,So that both you and your seed may live

Without the cross there'd be no me!

Lord, keep one hand on my shoulder and one hand over my mouth!

Very important, of course.

Jesus' outstretched arms on the cross...

one hand being held by His Father...

and one hand reaching out and taking hold of me!

He accused me of the same thing when I quoted him right underneath his post on Yendor's blog. Then he called me awful names, and yender took it down. I am glad someone is censoring his vile language for once. He then posted what he wanted to say without the vile language ha.

Sure His blood has atoned for our sins, but does that mean we have no need for any guidance to live by?

The guidance you are looking for is found all through Paul's writings.

But what I think you're looking for in particular is answered in Ephesians, chapters 4 , 5 and six.

All the guidance you could ask for yendor.

But get one thing straight and settled in your heart.

Salvation is a GIFT of God. Provided to us and for us by one thing only.

By the price that Jesus Christ payed on that cross in our place.

We receive this gift of grace through faith . And we trust in what Jesus Christ accomplished FOR us.

ALONE

Without adding our works which are but rags of self righteousness thereby polluting that which God has proclaimed holy.

The way we are to live is BECAUSE of the gift of salvation we have freely received.

We live a life of holiness because of salvation.

We DON"T and CAN"T live a life holy ENOUGH FOR or to RETAIN or KEEP salvation.

Good works FROM our salvation. NOT good works FOR our salvation.

BIG BIG difference.

Any way yendor, Ephesians, chapters 4 , 5 and six.

Man, I really hope this helps to clear up any confusion.

I'll be praying for your understanding.

If you really want understanding then take heed to what this man wrote here :

2Tm:2: Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

This mans name is Paul. He wrote Romans to Philemon.

I know you've been getting it from all sides it seems. But I for one pray for any confusion you have to be cleared up. But this will only come from study and prayer.

And if I in anyway have made you feel beat up, I apologise. My wish and prayers is that you as well as everyone is to see what a great salvation we have and WHO we owe it to.

A little hint yendor : It ain't ourselves.

2Co:4:3 KJV: But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

I think there is a little too much emphasis on Christ's death insofar as it overshadows his life and at least part of his message (his sacrifice was only part of that and is a bone of contention with Islam), although important there is no denying. If we were talking solely as a symbol, I prefer the original secret symbol of the early christians.
